I remember a McCartney story from their pre-fame days when they were in an old van going from one club to another and ran off the road and didn't know what to do. The individual provenance is sketchy, but someone said 'Something will happen'. It became a kind of defacto mantra for them. I say it to myself every day. "Something will happen'. Something did happen--for them, at least. They changed music forever.

McCartney is the most accomplished songwriter in rock and roll history. Hands down. It's him. Beatles, Wings, solo, duets, etc. Nobody wrote and made music that sold more than he did. That goes for all people and all types of music ever
He is extremely modest most every time I have ever heard him talk. Extremely. Doesn't brag, doesn't talk down to people. He is also a considerate and caring listener when fans and reporters, etc., speak to him. In fact, the way he is, he typically acts like you are important to him when you talk to him. That is why people love him even more.

Since you do not have the ability to post without profanity I assume you do not have the ability to read and comprehend. Making a positive statement on Lennon/McCartney is not stating George or Ringo were bad. George is probably one of the most if not the most underrated songwriters ever. Ringo was very talented as a drummer, and would also fall under the category of very underrated too. It took all 4 to make what happened happen, so no I would not say forget the other 2.

I thought at each word his voice would break and he wouldn't be able to finish. I sat, enthralled, listening to his vignettes of his life with John, very moved by the stories and his obvious trial of emotion. And he pulled it off. Such grace under pressure is a rare thing to witness in the world, today.

When my twin brother Paul died from cancer in 1992, I wrote, as a photographer, to many famous people asking that I might take their portrait in my bros' honour and collate a series of images for a book of photographs.
I sent out sixty seven letters to the good and great in their various fields and crossed my fingers and waited.....
Guess who the first person was to respond to my request. Your right. The very next day...
I went down to his studios, after being met with a big hug and a cuppa,
That picture got everyone else on board for the project and I know for sure that without Paul's yes it never would have got off the ground...
I was in pieces having just lost my twin bro and best friend and your words of kindness about your mate John helped me like you'll never know....

On his last day on Earth, John Lennon was followed around by Dave Sholin, who was interviewing him for RKO. Sholin was on his way to the airport and, when John and Yoko's car to the studio did not show up, Sholin invited them to ride with him and be dropped off on the way. They apparently had a remarkable day together and Sholin found Lennon to be open, friendly and excited to be reviving his career.
When the subject of Paul came up, John did not hesitate to talk about their troubles, but ultimately said this: "He’s like a brother. I love him. Families … we certainly have our ups and downs and our quarrels. But at the end of the day when it’s all said and done, I would do anything for him. I think he would do anything for me."
Obviously, I never met a Beatle, but it always troubled me to think that the two men didn't reconcile before they died. I find it very comforting to know that they did and that they had the opportunity to tell each other how they felt.
In the end, I suppose, the love you take is equal to the love you make.

What I love about this random collection of memories from Paul is that he didn't try to canonize John; he didn't try to elevate him to super-human status. He just shows how it was the real, day-to-day moments -- even at the height of fame -- that were meaningful to him. For us on the outside, we want to see a legend immortalized, but Paul was just missing an old friend.

Ikura Prime I'm with you every step of the way on that one. Wasn't it incredible growing up with them? The music kept flowing from them to us and never dried up until the break up.
It's impossible for those who were not there to understand what they were and what they meant to all of us. Every six months a new album would come out and every track was a gem. Every three months there was a new single with music that was never on an album.
In the early 80s A Hard Day's Night was re-released in theaters. I went with my friends and all of those who were my age literally cried at the beginning of that film. It had only been a short time since John was killed and it hit home on every one of us who were in that theater that day. Try to explain that to younger people who were not there and they will just shake their heads and walk away.
We we're privileged and blessed to be part of that time and to experience all that came with it.

Yoko didn't give Julian ANYTHING, not even the letters he wrote his father. Not even his childhood pictures his father had. Julian has spent the better part of his adult life buying from collectors, his own things back, because Yoko refused to give him anything. So yea Paul got petty and changed things so that both of John's son's got his Royalties. We know Yoko got her cut for being the widow. John Lennon and Paul McCartney together as a song writing team changed the future of music. I remember seeing the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964 that was exciting. They played many songs in 4 Ed Sullivan Sunday night shows. I remember in the mid 1960s on the AM radio station they had a music competition contest and would keep playing another tune and see which song won and 'I want to hold your hand' by The Beatles won that contest. A different time in 1967 I was 12 and I brought my portable record player to a girl's place in our small town and we were playing spin the bottle and a few guy and a few girls and you kissed the girl who the bottle pointed to. That was fun. The only records we had there were The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. I remember each of the Beatles songs as they were released on the AM radio station the songs were always great.

That is because in the beginning I have a feeling a lot of the "Lennon, McCartney" songs were 80% Lennon. A couple years in I think Paul got his writing down, and a few years later George. But in the beginning I dont think anyone would argue it was Johns band (especially the Cavern and Hamburg days)

@@DimitrisDr3am Oh, yeah. I've seen it like this: Pre-1965/66, it was John's band, almost completely. Post 1966, I'd say it's more Paul's band, really.

Disagree. They gave each other credit. They were both as humble and as loyal as each other. It was in the latter years when asked post Beatles, it was made more evident who wrote what. Still loyal to his friend, but it was more Paul setting the record straight than John. I don't think John cared.... until he felt betrayed by digs in RAM songs and wrote the scathing 'How Do You Sleep' in retaliation. Interesting to note Phil (the last Beatle producer) produced it and George played on it.

A travel across the time. This is a video posted 8 years ago, showing an event from 25 years ago, whose subject was from 50 something years ago.
Great Band, The Beatles, whose legacy will last for many years to come.
    It's 2019.

Paul remembers him and miss him every single day, he lost his best friend, band member , co songwriter and very special person to his life. They're voice blended like no other.
