My car is a BMW E36 316i 1998 model with a manual transmission. It has been my trusty car the whole winter season! Bought it pretty cheap and been happy with it on cold and warm days! a cheap beater can really give you a lot of fun!

What we do in our country, if a car is like this(like yours(and not only)), we sell it to parts because that way you can make more money and there actually is a quite big demand for old e36 parts. The things like diff alone can cost 50 euros.

It’s sad that the e36 compact is leaving, it was a fun car. Maybe this time for a toy car you could buy e46 compact or just another e36 compact. I hate when a car has to be crushed... especially BMW’s .

If I were you, I'd buy another E36 compact, for cheap of course, gut it out, just to lose weight, put in that nice seat and steering wheel that you had in this one, strut bars to front and rear, weld the diff again, a nice stainless straight pipe exhaust (60-70mm or so) with a double square tip rear muffler, and let the new beater beat it up 🤤
Do you think is a good ideea to buy a car from Norway? I guess these cars are usually well mentained, but I guess weather is very cold, so there are many cold starts and roads are salty.... I am considering buying an e65 730d from norway.

I wouldn't rev the cold motor, the scrap yard could still sell it.

They dont do that in norway, you get 3000kr to send it to the scrap yard to get crushed.

Anything is fixable, but is it worth the time and effort? I hate to see an E36 die but it's not as if they're rare or anything.

you can take out the engine of the compact and then maybe buy anoter e36 without a engine in it and then put the engine from the compact in that e36
