How old is Eleonora now in 2019? Tell me about her. There is little information of her in Google.
I am just thankful there was a boy there! My son just started ballet and a proud daddy I would be if he were to come close to dancing like this. A masterpiece. Really enjoyed watching over and over again!

Russian ballet is the real ballet. Only he excites and pleases the heart and soul. This is the Russian soul, Russian spirit, Russian civilization. Everything else is just dancing.
French ballet is different again and also exquisite. Russian male dancers are non plus ultra. Judgement can be biased.

+nba1906 No. Actually it is very common (in Russia) to applaud during performances.
Applause is fine and even expected in a particularly impressive solo, but people who clap in time are REALLY ANNOYING.
I like how they dance is it hard and embarrassing for the boy to dance with two girls and no other boy 😜!

In this particular version of the ballet- Mirlitons is always a favorite section for me.

The strength of these dancers is amazing...and it really doesn't take away from the overall effect...it's stunning , creative and new but not so new that it strays too far from the original.
I think I'll be voting for Mariinsky

Some audiences will never learn the importance of silence.
I disagree in this case, because the dance is supposed to be a performance in-universe, therefore the clapping does not disturb the suspense of disbelief.

Jay DePalma In Russia it is normal to clap during the performance if a dancer does something really impressive and the dancers appreciate this
As a dancer I love when people clap while I'm dancing. It tells me I'm doing a good job and people like it.

@Pauline Meier -- btw, not sure where you are, but one of these girls is now in Bolshoi and the other one is in Mariinsky. @Cristóbal Acuña - the video is from 2012. I am not sure about the boy, but Eleonora Sevenard graduated in 2017, so she must've been around 18 in 2017. The video is from 2012 which would make her 13 at the time of this video. The other girl is Yulia Zolotykh, and according to her instagram she graduated in 2016, so she'd be a year older. The boy's name is Roman Surkov, but I don't know anything about him. It's not likely he is 11 as this would put him to the 1st year, and it's not like a first year students would be cast, though it's possible if he'd had prior training.
Excusing my ignorant Americanism, I was wondering about the identities of the 2 lovely girls (twins?) and the young boy. Anyone know?

Russia has long been famous for good ballet but that doesn't make it the cultural capital of the world.

Where can I find/watch this version in its entirety? I miss this, to me it was the best overall. The kid dancers were actually kids.
I like it too. At one point, the full version was here, but someone must've taken it down for the copyright probably. This was apparently shown on the Ovation tv channel. I've just seen the DVD on the amazon, search for Mariinsky 2012 Nutcracker.

So after many years of practicing, only a few dancers get the main roles?
Different dancers rotate through the roles. There are 3 sets of Billies for a week’s worth of Billy Elliot shows in musical theatre. And there are understudies who fill in last minute for injuries and sickness. There a multiple versions of this choreo with different kids casted. There are multiple sets of costumes and in different sizes.

Dude, there's no such thing as a height requirement for art. Should the kid not have an opportunity just because he hasn't finished growing yet when his skill is what matters?
@@etcetera1995 they don't mean he shouldn't be on stage because of his height. What "Leilani" is saying that he should have been paired with shorter girls. It makes his and the girls' dancing much easier if he was taller.
They rehearsed well and adapted to their personal situations, both the girls and the boy, which is what trained dancers are able to do. His artistry is what mattered, not his stature.
I literally wrote that comment when I was 12 guys. Chill out. I wasn't saying he shouldn't be a dancer. As a female dancer myself I know it can be harder to dance with a partner shorter than myself. But now I probably wouldn't comment at all because I'm an adult with better things to do with my life 😂

This dance has a few names, such as marzipan, mirlitons, toy flutes, and such. So you're not wrong, it just depends on the company. :)
Yes, in Russia it's called the dance of the little shepherds, but I also saw it referred as "children marzipan".

Mirliton is a type of French pastry. Act 2 uses a lot of sweets.

@@annamarichev8969yes and the French pastry mirliton resembles the eunuch flute in that it has a tubular, rolled shape :-). The alternative name of the piece is Dance of the Reed Flutes. My Chinese traditional bamboo flute (also held horizontally) also uses a membrane like a kazoo :-)

Quadnumber the tempo is slow. It was directed slower to accommodate the dancers. The actual tempo listed for the piece by Tchaikovsky is Allegro which falls between 120-156 bpm. Was it wrong at that tempo? No. Music is up to the interpretation of the director/conductor.

its called an entrechat quartre and is very difficult to do, so being able to execute it at such a young age is noteworthy.
