I loved the excitement of NYCB with the sharp and witty classical technique. Very American.

What I saw was rather gymnastics than real ballet. No daintiness and elegance that the MUSIC itself dictates. And this tempo!!! Are they in the speed race?! Horrible, just horrible!

First , American New York City Ballet. Pas de Cinque.
It's a land of entertainment. Fun is the priority and it makes me smile. I like these kinds of performances where you can relax, but it also feels a little like a school recital.
The next,Bolshoi Ballet in Russia. Pas de Deux.
Fantastic! I get goosebumps and almost cry. Ballet is an art, and the beauty of movement is expressed through ballet. I guess that's called elegance. it's beautiful.
The last is Pas de Cinque of the Royal Ballet in England.
It's fun to be elaborate on costumes and stage equipment like a theater country. Ballet is all that great either, but I can't help but feel that I'm dancing ballet for the sake of ballet, in contrast to Russia's delicate, soft and natural ballet that has been sublimated into a means of expression.
Mr. Tetsuya Kumagawa, who is also the organizer of Japan's K-ballet, is from the Royal Ballet in England, so he is very particular about the stage and costumes.

NYC version is quite horrible and bland. And Bolshoi too slow.Actually Royal Ballet version is the best.

I didn't like the slow pacing of the Bolshoi, and even if I'm also not a fan of the panniers on the girl dancer, their technique was lovely. I liked the Royal best both because I liked that Clara was involved, but also it was the most joyful of the three.

I adore the Mariinsky pas de trois version. If only it was on the list!

I’m going with the first one because I love the colors and the choreography and the dancers are really precise (most people will disagree)

    Lovely Christmas traditions! 1 and 3 are similar, but I love how Clara is involved. The 2) is not my favorite tradition, but it expresses that it's meant to represent French shepherds. 1 focuses more on the sweets. Then there is the Pas de trois tradition at Mariinsky. Apart from this, is anything else existing? (;

There are versions where it’s 3 or 4 girls with ribbons!😊

    Why bolshoi look so difficult?

So the Russians don't let their dancers perform well until the Russian candy scene??? Kinda sucked but maybe If you did so, very sneaky Russia😘. Again. America just bragging about how fast they can make their legs move at the cost of looking super tacky. Royal ballet killing it even in the nineties... Does the royal ballet just mafia run the best choreographers and dancers? What's going down?

The Royal is from about 2012 or so Clara is danced by Frankie Hayward she became a Prima in 2016 her debut was as Sugarplum fairy that year.

Royal Ballet doesn’t come close to Mariinsky or Bolshoi. All their dancers are short & thick legged and their dancing is slow and bland. Also their choreography for the Nutcracker is painful to look at.

Didn't like the first one at all, silly costumes and they seemed to be treating the whole thing as a joke. Perhaps that was the aim, but then why do that in a ballet that has to have a measure of suspension of cynicism and a requirement that the audience just goes with the flow?
I liked the second though I think they could have done without the toy sheep, that was rather awkward.
The third, just nice and light and charming. Simple and straightforward, and as another poster said, "clean",

For the first one, you're right about the costumes. They don't seem to be treating it as a joke that much, but seeing as they are NYCB dancers this may be rather easy for them. My studio performs this Balanchine version and my class, who's been on pointe for about a year, can do the corps version with hardly any difficulty. My studio has tutus similar to the royal ballet and they're really pretty. So I don't think the whole dance is bad, maybe just not this particular interpretation.

Not a fan of the Balanchine technique for some reason, and their nutcracker is my least favorite of these three. The Bolshoi does not make sense with the shepherd/shepardes in the nutcracker. TheRoyal ballets is and will always be brilliant. I did see this year at the Royal opera house with one of my favorite RB dancers Francesca Hayward as Clara. Brilliant choreography brilliant dancers all in all the worlds best company today.
