In the book, the pearl Peeta gives to Katniss is an inside joke between them that is related to something Effie told them. It kinda seems weird in the movie without the context, but they still kept the scene as we see the pearl multiple times in the next movies.
Small question, but it's one of those 'it was in the books' things! Katniss continues to hunt, because she is helping to feed Gale's family. She has enough money, but Gale won't accept money. However, he will take game, because it's not from the Capitol. Since he is required to go in the mines now, she is helping his large family get food on their table. Both she and Gale's father died in the same coal mining collapse. That was the first time she met him.
Katniss slapped the shit out of Haymitch. In the book, she attacks his eyes with her fingernails. She's pissed ! "To punish Haymitch, who, of all the people in this rotting world, has turned Peeta and me into pieces in his Games. I trusted him. I put what was precious in Haymitch's hands. And he has betrayed me." The issue is, Peeta came to Haymitch first, so Haymitch promised him first that he would save Katniss. Of course, the plan was to save both of them, that's why Maggs and the morphling sacrificed themselves to save Peeta. I still think Haymitch should have warned Peeta, at least he should have told him to never leave Katniss's side.
Also, not sure if you remember in the books, Katniss was never in love with Gale. The first time she got those kind of feelings was when her and Peeta kissed in the cave.
The books _are not_ the movies. You bookers are all alike and can't seem to make out the disconnect -- each series is written for a different audience. They can change whatever they want to fit the intended audience, and they changed quite a bit in that regard.

20:05 just so you know this kiss with Gale never happened in the books, they added it to fuel the non existent love triangle. In the books you can clearly see she never felt anything for him, only for Peeta.
There was definitely a love triangle in the books as well. Of course, once we know the end it's easy to say "of course it had to be Peeta" but really Katniss is conflicted about how she feels for both of them almost the entire trilogy. With the movies we don't get to experience her feelings so adding a kiss was a good way to convey this conflict. I think they did a great job translating the whole thing on screen.
@@misterwhyte I don’t count pity kisses as a love triangle. She never had romantic feelings for Gale, she just didn’t. She never felt the stirring in her chest and the hunger for more when she kissed him, it only happened with Peeta.
