That they were gunna kill cinna, the spile for water, that Plutarch was against snow, that Johanna cut out her tracker, that the arena was a clock, that all of the tributes were deliberately keeping katniss alive, that beetee was intending to electrocute the arena, that the jabberjays were recordings like finnick thought. There’s many ways you can take this plot point. I think it is a parallel to the idea of pro life. People care so much about women keeping their babies but actually don’t give a crap about the life they may have after birth…all they care about is that they’re born. Say a woman is raped, or a child will be born with many disabilities and medical issues…some will only care that the child is carried to term, but won’t actually care what happens to the child for the rest of its life. It also shines a light on how brainwashed the capitol is. For them, district children are just pawns for entertainment. Their purpose is to come to the games and serve as entertainment. But with the victors, they are real people to the capitol. Many of them of celebrities and adored in panem. Katniss says in the book that the quarter quell must feel similar to how the games are in the districts. They genuinely feel for those in the games, whereas usually they’re just random children from the districts.

Love the big brother energy when Katniss is touched in a disrespectful way. i always thought the capitol was made to be very “touchy” to begin with. kissing cheeks, pecking (between people who are close but not lovers, like mags and finnick, to even complete strangers like the guy who kissed katniss). that plus the fact that they see the tributes/victors as “exhibitions” or animals in a zoo makes that touch on her shoulder so jarring to us but also so fitting in this universe! (and if we think about it, many celebrities in the real world are treated like that, when they are mobbed/surrounded by fans or even during “similar” events)
So the movie didn’t explain it all that well and very few people that haven’t read the books notice, but the body of water in the arena is salt water. Like the ocean. And you can’t drink sea water, so the lack of drinkable water in this arena is a huge problem in the games. In the book, they were super dehydrated by that point and that’s why Haymitch sent the spile. Regular water also doesn’t cure the boils from the acidic fog, it was the salt in the water that draws out the acid from their skin and heals them. It was pure luck that Katniss figured that one out.
@@Dr.DeethNutz I think the pearl coming from an oyster that was foraged from the beach is a confirmation on screen, but even then it’s hard to catch when it’s not outright explained because so much is going on in the plot. The audience learns those tidbits of information in the books from Katniss’ internal dialogue/narration, so translating that to the screen for the audience is tricky. Of all the people I have seen reacting to this film, you guys picked up the little clues the quickest 😎💡 Love this movie. My fave of the series. A perfect combination of the Games, politics, story plot and Katniss/Peeta. Crazy to see the change in Katniss, that she went into these Games assuming she wasn't coming back. Now that Prim and her mom are safe, her next priority was Peeta. It's understandable why she is so upset at the end, she thought that the game plan was to get Peeta out, she was devoting her life to it. If I could rewrite the story, I would have told Peeta about the plan. His priorities would have been the same, wouldn't have to act then he would not have been separated when the stadium fell apart. He could have been rescued with her and Finnick 😢
We appreciate you & we agree. The fact that she felt betrayed was justified in what they spoke about beforehand BUT she also has to understand that she’s the hope everyone needs/needed
@@DaKidsReact 😁🙏 Yes, this is a problem. Despite how she has acted thus far, she never wanted to be a leader plus she is only 17 😅 it is difficult for her to believe people would look to her to lead and doesn't want the responsibility of what happens when things go badly A terrible situation I would never wish on anyone, regardless of age but for a teenager!? Soo difficult
I was cool with Finnick as soon as his character came up in the book too. His character is supposed to have that aura, glad they pulled that off in the movie
i’m sure someone has mentioned this before but haymitch was the victor of the last quarter quell before this one. normally there are 24 tributes but for haymitch’s games they doubled the tributes as the “special” thing so haymitch was put in an area and had to survive 47 people instead of 23. this year was already going to be traumatizing for haymitch as the previous victor of a quell
So I'm sure you picked up on it but ever 25 years there's a special hunger games called the quarter quell every one is different. The first quarter quell (25th hunger games) the districts had to vote for which male and female to go to into the games in each district. The second quarter quell (the 50th hunger games) it was double the amount of kids thrown in the hunger games so 2 boys and 2 girls from each district for a total of 48 tributes (this was the year haymitch won his hunger games. And we're actually getting a prequel book and movie about his games in 2026! And then of course we got to witness the last quarter quell where the victors get reaped with Katniss it's just a coincidence that Katniss and Peeta won their first hunger games right before the quarter quell
you guys pick things up so quickly!! So refreshing to watch because these movies are completely elevated by the small details that most people overlook. You're also the only people I've seen figure out the clock situation before they explain it in the movie!!! My personal theory about why this arena had so much more of an aggressive environment is so that the other tributes could be taken out with no risk to Katniss and Peeta by things Plutarch could control. They were barely fighting each other compared to how much they were just trying to survive everything else. Also the whole 3 finger symbol thing- it originated in district 12 to pay respect to the deceased I believe, they did the same in the first movie; what made it so controversial this time around is because communication between the districts is banned (as to avoid an uprising) so when Katniss did the symbol in the first games after Rue died the fact that the other districts started adopting it became a symbol of resistance. That's why people in district 12 were not punished for it, whereas the other districts were.
Suzanne Collins is a genius! To make the sequel of hunger games, basically be a even more Souped-up version of the first book's games. While simultaneously setting up the plot of the third and final book. A lesser writer would have milked this incredible idea into 5 or more books like we see today. Since she made it a trilogy you get an incredibly tight well written series. Based on an incredibly well thought out world and games.
It wasn't just the baby gimmick that got the other Tributes (including the Morphlings) to help Katniss and Peeta, it was mostly Haymitch who spoke with the Tributes on getting them to team up along with their current hatred for being put back in the games at all. This was a universal act of defiance, except for the first two Districts who were likely being encouraged by Snow to do the opposite.
Oooh i watched y'all watch the first one just a bit after you posted and then I disappeared from TH-cam for a while cuz of school. And now this is here! I loved your first one. I'm sure this will be a good break for studying 😊
I have a theory. We never see the others in a group larger than 2 except for Joanna who got Weiress and BeeTee…was Haymich setting the expectation to be part of a group so they can protect her and escape. Because she would be crazy suspicious of them being too close to her with no reason.
That's not really a theory, that's exactly what happened. She literally says "I got them for you" when presenting them to Katniss. She was in on the rebelion and was told it was the way to get Katniss's confidence
catching fire was my favorite. Crazy how in school growing up my teachers or subs would play movies from this franchise. Thankful for hunger games because it touched on serious topics and was so well done.
@@DaKidsReact Yayyy I loved the MJ movies! Also wanted to ask (idk if it's too federal) but what region of the U.S. are you from?? I'm atl down and you all sound like northern and southern slang mixed together lmao I love it
She and Gale were NVR together. Even in the books he didn't express having feelings for her until she volunteered. They'd bn friends since their dad's died when Katniss was 12, and she's 16 when she volunteered.
Also some background on some of the characters you might want to know (no spoilers for the next 2 movies - these are things they left out). These show that everyone had some reason to fight back and join the revolution: - Snow forced Finnick to sell his body after he won because he was handsome and people at the capitol loved him. He was 14. - Snow also tried to force Johanna to do the same, but she resisted, so Snow had her whole family killed. That's why she said she's got no one left that she loves. - Annie, the girl that Finnick likes, went crazy after her game because she saw someone get beheaded (I think, not 100% sure) (Don't read this one if you don't want to be spoiled since they are making a new movie about this!) Haymitch won the last quarterquell (50th hunger games) by using something similar to the force field. He figured that the arena had edges (because it's obv not infinite) and things he threw off the edge came bounding back up. So when it was just him and another tribute left, he threw an axe down the edge and it bounced right back into the other tribute's head. He basically used a flaw in the game and made the capitol look stupid, so Snow had his mother and girlfriend at the time killed.

53:52 Also, yes, they didn't do this last time! I could be wrong, if so, please someone in the comments correct me! But I'm pretty sure they started collecting the bodies of the dead tributes after cases of cannibalism in the games, the Panem and overall audience found the scenes too brutal, so the game masters decided to start removing the bodies from the field!
They have taken the bodies out since one of the early years when there was cannibalism. They didn’t show it in the first movie… probably had a bigger budget for this one.
You goofing around at the end with the glasses while he was staying all serious about the movie gave me such younger sibling vibes I couldn't help but laugh

Guys I loved your reaction. You are truly so smart, you got all of the plot twists before the revelation haha. None of the reactors I've seen do it so fast. Please don't take so long for the remaining 2 movies🥹
Mamaw from Arkansas is so happy y’all are watching ALL the hunger game movies 👵🏻👍🏻🥂 Team Peeta 🎉 Always Ps President Snow is a straight up GANGSTER President
1) Each visitor has their own house. Peeta just spends a lot of time with Haymitch since they both live alone. Katniss has her mom & sister staying with her. 2) Many reactors, for some reason, keep forgetting that Peeta can paint. HE obviously painted Rue on the ground to show his anger over the Quarter Quell games. Both Peeta and Katniss get high scores for heir behavior which makes more careers want to attack them instead of wanting to ally with them. Not sure why so many reactor think the game makers did it. Very odd. Glad you two realized what was going on. 3) ALL the animals/“creatures” that you see that aren't flying are MUTTS created and engineered by the game makers and they are made from parts of dead tributes. Ugh! 4) The spinning of the island was stupid, IMO, and made no sense when Plutarch said, "Let's see the try to tell time now." You can't lose the 12 o'clock tree as it is so effin’ huge. Now, if they could've moved the SLICES of the arena...THAT would've made sense. 5) People are quick to hate on District 1, but it's important to remember that they are victims too. Each district is tortured a different way. In district 1 they are expected/required to live in opulence and excess or be punished for being unappreciative. They know that most other districts are starving, but they are made to/expected to eat to the point of making themselves sick and pretending they are happy about it instead of having the district share with the others. When they don't fall in line they get turned into the capital and made into AVOXes (people that are tortured and then have their tongues cut out and forced into servitude) or worse...mutts. Think of Effie, woman that draws the tributes' names at the reaping. Her and the TV host, Caesar Flickerman, ...they have a job to do and that is to make these grotesque moments FEEL/LOOK like "entertainment"... or else. EVERYONE is scared, even the Presidents' own family members. The games are NOT "entertainment" to anyone. The citizens of Panem are ALL terrified of their government because they know the grotesque and twisted things it does to people. They watch the games because they wanna see their people and try to support them if/when they can. Being a sponsor demands a lot of money so the sponsor gifts are rare, but people try. You have to watch the games to see what will be needed. In this book the people of District 1 were ALL angry that the Victors were being put into the games; they weren’t cheering happily like in the movie. 6) Haymitch was one of District 12's winners. He's an alcoholic because he was a winner when he was 16 and since then has been required to be the mentor of countless tributes only to see them ALL die for nearly 24 years. He’d won his Games by using the force field against the Capitol. Though it was a Capitol creation, Haymitch was able to use it to his advantage and win the Games with it. The Victors receive income from the Capitol for life, are given a special status in their districts and are allowed to live in the wealthiest part of their district called the Victors' Village with their families. Their District is given supplies of food and other things to survive, while the lone victor (except of The 74th Hunger Games since there is 2 victors) is bathed in riches. Most of them become very popular all throughout all of Panem. The Capital, however, can summon victors whenever they want and make demands on them. This is clarified later and in more detail later.
One of those rare times where a sequel is even better than the first movie. THIS was just top tier

Love this movie.
Despite how she has acted thus far, she never wanted to be a leader plus she is only 17 😅 it is difficult for her to believe people would look to her to lead and doesn't want the responsibility of what happens when things go badly
A terrible situation I would never wish on anyone, regardless of age but for a teenager!? Soo difficult
such a good commentary - low key spitting bars at the end about the politics and all the hidden meanings
We appreciate you & it was done very well to relate to how society works. Enjoyed this film!
This is my all time favorite series. One of the rare ones where the movies were just as good as the books.
Loved this one!
aww the love for mags was so wholesome
That was our grandma too😅😢
I was cool with Finnick as soon as his character came up in the book too. His character is supposed to have that aura, glad they pulled that off in the movie
GREAT addition to the team! W/o him they wouldn’t of had made it!
Mags didn’t deserve this😢 51:20
Definitely didn’t😢
She was such a brave and kind soul. She knew she was 100% going to her death from the beginning
I can't wait for you guys to see the mocking jay part 1! 😀
We are watching MJ part 2 Thursday on Patreon! Part 1 will be on yt in 2 weeks💙
AHHHH IM SO EXCITED y'alls reaction to the first one was so good!!
We hope you enjoy this one & we are happy you enjoyed the first💙
I totally agree
Loved it
👵🏻👍🏻🥂
i’m sure someone has mentioned this before but haymitch was the victor of the last quarter quell before this one. normally there are 24 tributes but for haymitch’s games they doubled the tributes as the “special” thing so haymitch was put in an area and had to survive 47 people instead of 23. this year was already going to be traumatizing for haymitch as the previous victor of a quell
Haymitch's weapon of choice was a dagger. He is going to be an absolute savage in this coming book, surviving 47 other tributes.
New Sub… love how smart and empathetic you guys are and your attention to detail is top notch! Can’t wait for the rest ❤
WELCOME & we appreciate you & your support! Much love💙
Yall are so good with the little details. It's great watching yall!! Yall understand people's motives perfectly!!
We appreciate you & truly happy you're enjoying our reactions
@@DaKidsReact of course! excited for the next one :)
Hovercrafts always remove the bodies of dead tributes they just never showed it in the first movie
you guys pick things up so quickly!!
It’s always great watching people experience this film for the first time. Fab reaction guys!
We appreciate you!
ahh i’ve been waiting on this video! i love catching fire sm it’s so hard for sequels to surpass their original but this movie does it with ease
We hope you enjoyed it & this movie was a good 9/10 for us!
It is so nice to watch someone discover the Hunger Games series. Can’t wait to see your next video reaction.
LOVED this series, MJ pt1 coming in 2 weeks!
Hunger games reaction got me to subscribe to your Channel. I am looking forward to this next one.
WELCOME & we hope you enjoy this next one as well💙
@@DaKidsReact I just finished all the Lord of the rings reactions over the weekend. Keep up the great work!
We hope everything w/ school is going great for you & welcome back! We hope you enjoy this one as well💙
Movie BANGS HARD. This whole series is insanely well done.
Finishing up MJ pt2 tomorrow & loved every movie so far!
This is my favourite movie series, ever. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch this
No problem, after finishing MJ pt2 Thursday, its one of our favorites as well now!
Catching Fire is one of those sequels that’s better than the first
catching fire was my favorite. Crazy how in school growing up my teachers or subs would play movies from this franchise. Thankful for hunger games because it touched on serious topics and was so well done.
Definitely our favorite one so far! We finish up MJ Pt2 tomorrow!
@@DaKidsReact Yayyy I loved the MJ movies! Also wanted to ask (idk if it's too federal) but what region of the U.S. are you from?? I'm atl down and you all sound like northern and southern slang mixed together lmao I love it
Yep, Government games are always rigged against it's players. It's our response to each other that matters. Much love, Old Musician From Seattle
Watched your first reaction (great), you didn't disappoint me on this one! Can't wait for MOCKINGJAY part 1. You both are great🔥🔥
We appreciate you & happy you enjoyed the first 2 reactions! MJ coming in 2 weeks!
17 HOURS⁉️😭😫🔥
She and Gale were NVR together. Even in the books he didn't express having feelings for her until she volunteered. They'd bn friends since their dad's died when Katniss was 12, and she's 16 when she volunteered.
You guys are so good at catching small details! Can’t wait for the next two reactions
Also some background on some of the characters you might want to know (no spoilers for the next 2 movies - these are things they left out). These show that everyone had some reason to fight back and join the revolution:
- Snow forced Finnick to sell his body after he won because he was handsome and people at the capitol loved him. He was 14.
- Snow also tried to force Johanna to do the same, but she resisted, so Snow had her whole family killed. That's why she said she's got no one left that she loves.
- Annie, the girl that Finnick likes, went crazy after her game because she saw someone get beheaded (I think, not 100% sure)
(Don't read this one if you don't want to be spoiled since they are making a new movie about this!) Haymitch won the last quarterquell (50th hunger games) by using something similar to the force field.
We are happy you enjoyed our reactions, next one coming next week💙🔥
Been WAITING for this one!!❤😊
I clicked this video so fast! My new fave reaction duo! I cannot wait for y'all to do the last 2 movies. And the prequel movie about President Snow when he was a teenager, A Ballad Of Songbirds and Snakes.
We hope you enjoyed it & we appreciate you & your support💙 We will definitely jump into that movie once we finish up MJ pt2 tomorrow🔥
The glasses look amazing on you! Thanks for keeping these movies going, its truly one of the best book to film adaptations ive ever experienced. You lose a bit without Katniss' inner monologuing, and they cut out some of the detail ofc, but overall i love it every time i rewatch.
Thank you💙 they’re blue light glasses to help bc i (Swizz) am prone to migraines so they help a lot! This movie was definitely the best one so far of the 3 we’ve watched (finish MJ pt2 tomorrow)!
@@DaKidsReact cant wait to watch the rest, and always excited for the next thing yall pick up
yessssss, im so excited! Your reaction to the first movie has become my favourite reaction! This one is even better, im so excited to go down this patch with you guys, this series is amazing
That means a lot to us, we hope you enjoyed it & much love💙
Loving the reactions , keep it up guys !
We appreciate you & much love💙
@@DaKidsReact Same to you bros
Finnick is HIM!
Ya'll are so good at predicting what happens in this movie 😂 good job guys! On to the next one!!
We appreciate you! Mocking Jay coming next week🙏🏾
Yes it's true
They have taken the bodies out since one of the early years when there was cannibalism. They didn’t show it in the first movie… probably had a bigger budget for this one.
I assumed they took the bodies quicker than last game because of how Rue became a symbol. They didn't want any of that again.
Yall are so good at predicting omg it’s actually amazing
You goofing around at the end with the glasses while he was staying all serious about the movie gave me such younger sibling vibes I couldn't help but laugh
🤣🤣 i (swizz) am older. I like messing w/ annoying him (older brother things)
@@DaKidsReact hahaha siblings energy at its peak then 😂
La actriz de Johana es una de las hermanas bennet de orgullo y prejuicio. En los libros Finick siempre le recuerda a katniss del embarazo 😂😂😂
Joanna Mason played young girl interested in ham radio set. Then her dad dies young girl turns into Jodi Foster in "Contact" movie.
The first one was relatively low-budget. Then it was a huge success and they got lots of money for movie #2.
u guys are wonderful, picking things up, its amazing
I remember watching this in theaters. Everybody lost their sh*t when the mockingjay changed at the end. That was a good time. Definitely a rarity when the sequel is actually better than the first.
My favoriteeeee one of the franchise
Loved y’all’s reaction and the on point predictions ❤
We appreciate you💙 Next one in 2 weeks🔥
So HAPPY YOU CONTINUED WITH THE SERIES, hope you watch the others 😍
We hope you enjoyed & definitely will! Finishing MJ Pt2 tomorrow over on Patreon🔥😅

Ps

GANGSTER

The fact that this is happening in Palestine right now is heartwrenching
This may be off topic but I loved that relentless shirt! Had me going to the website to check out what other merch they had 🤩
That’s one of my good friends brand! Here’s the link: www.relentlessathleticwear.com/men
1) Each visitor has their own house.
