Why does uber allow this? Once driver starts the trip as picked up, if you cancel the ride, you should still be charged for the fare. I don't see why uber allows this...
Benjamin Mathew perhaps you don’t care, but here in Mexico you get charged for the whole trip if you cancel once it starts there’s no way you can scam the driver
One of my friends is a an Uber driver, the area we live in is relatively small and mostly drunk women who been canceling mid trip... usually women out on the town at bars probably didn’t buy a single drink themselves... etc etc.. yea Anyway what my friend does is he stops right where the cancellation occurred, doesn’t give a shit if it’s a lonely foggy windy back road with no shoulder or lights.... if they dared to cancel in such a location they better have the nerve to also fix their situation themselves. He always demands they get out right away, if they refuse or start arguing he contacts the police who will remove them... police basically giggle about it said yea its becoming a common thing.. every one star review he gotten has been successfully appealed as well with video proof to document it... so always record and document occurrences.. A lot of low rated drivers in our area and only reason I can work out if basically same group of people trying to scam Uber drivers then getting kicked out mid ride..
It's as simple as a creating an option for the driver and the passenger to both select that the passenger is in the car. If the passenger doesn't accept, the driver doesn't go anywhere until they do. Once that has been selected, the fare is automatically charged.
Some girls cancelled on me because my phone died and they did it without telling me so I just reported it after the trip and got the full amount plus the cancellation fee . She probs gave me a goood rating becaue she thought she got a free trip until she checked her account the next morning ;)
@Brian Landers You can't rely on being able to drop off the account holder first, that's in a perfect world. IF at any time the ride is cancelled BEFORE you've dropped all pax off then you kindly tell them the ride has been cancelled and by policy this ride is over. Drop them off at the next possible exit and it's over.
DivideByZero That literally was not what Burnt_Warrior said. They are saying that people who do not pay their drivers should not get to rate their drivers. Also, what Uber driver would be that stupid to drive drunk?? I have NEVER heard of that.... People who try to scam the driver should not get to rate the drivers.
fortune.com/2017/04/13/uber-drunk-drivers/ People are idiots. Driving drunk is always a stupid idea, but people do it anyways. And it *is* what he said. If your driver shows up drunk, and you cancel because he is drunk, that means you didn't pay him.
They need to keep it there as I have picked up people that verified the name and I confirmed the address with them that are not who they say they are and the customer that was to be picked up is still on the sidewalk (I Drive nighttime Friday Saturday)
RanEncounter No, they can't. In Grab, there is a 24/7 customer service. If I press that button and tell the receptionist that he tapped pick up without actually picking me up, the driver will get screwed up immediately. They can easily detect my location and the driver's location. If they don't match, then the driver is done.
@@melchiorada then you ask to get off or call the cops. Afterwards you contact the company. That's why you have all the information of the driver in the app
Once the passenger has cancelled, they CANNOT rate you. So, if you allow them to re-ping , you are setting yourself up for another scam and poor rating. Turn the app OFF, once they are out of the car, then drive away, quickly.
I've watched a lot of videos from different Uber and Lyft drivers, but I haven't seen one that talks about the importance of writing down your start mileage (when you first leave home) and your end mileage (when you return home) for income tax purposes. Uber only tracks and charges for mileage from the pickup point to the drop off point, but they don't track the mileage in between trips, and the mileage to and from your home. It is important that you track those miles because you can deduct 57.5 cents per mile from your income tax. So, suppose your mileage is 50,000 when you leave home and 50,100 when you return home. That means you drove 100 miles. Suppose the Uber miles you drove (the miles for the trips you completed) only add up to 20 miles. When you deduct those 20 miles from the 100 total miles you drove, that leaves 80 miles. Multiply that by 57.5 cents, and that'll give you $46.00 tax deduction for that day.
+Alma Ott how do you know what miles uber is tracking for that day? if i wanted to do this would and i started tracking my mileage everyday how would i know what to subtract from the mileage uber has already tracked.
+Alma Ott is there a way to see on the app or will they send me something at the end of the year thats already broken down by days. sep1xx miles, sep2 xx miles.
+Rodney J My husband is the one who was an Uber driver. I don't know about what happens at the end of the year because they deactivated his account after one month of driving because they want drivers to maintain an average rating of 4.7 out of 5 stars. My husband's average was 4.63. So, he drives for Lyft now.
I had this happen to me. I pulled over and kindly advised them I could not continue if the ride was canceled. The passenger acted as if it was an accident, and asked me to help he re request. The trip started at a 5.9x surge, and the re request was 1.8x. I took them home in the 1.8, and contacted upper letting them know this passenger tried to buck the system. Uber looked at the details and facts and readjusted the whole trip to the original 5.9x surge. My advice is, kindly ask them to pull over, ask them to re request you, or request another driver. Most of the time, they get you back at a lower rate, then complete the trip. At the conclusion of the trip, notify uber of the attempted fraud, and they will fix it. Problem solved.
Shrek Onion I'm really active on TH-cam and comment very often, I usually get between 100 to 14k likes (yes it did happen on an idubbbz vid) on my comments so it's more than normal that you already saw me
I would've done the exact same thing!! I'm in the SF bay area and luckily so far in the 600+ trips I've completed in the last 4 months, I haven't run into this issue yet (keeps fingers crossed). The only one time a couple of drunk girls from UC Berkeley got into my car and one of them was laying on the floor in the back, saying she was about to puke. It was a long trip from Berkeley to SF (about 22 miles), but about 4 miles into the journey, the other one who was "somewhat sober" said she could not handle her friend anymore, and canceled mid-trip and they got out. Of course, in this case I was very glad this happened. Had my heart in my mouth, as I was seeing visions of puke all over my back seat!! :-D ....Actually until this incident I did not even know it was possible to cancel in the middle of a trip!
They shouldn't be able to cancel once they get in without paying, fuck uber, in this guy in the video's scenario I would of took the cash, it's my car, uber has zero say so about any fares outside the app.You don't work for uber, you are a ĉontracting taxi driver.
+Richard Schultz. Way to go man!!! People think they can rip you off and you have to sit there and take it. If you go into a store and try to leave without paying, you go to jail. This should be no different!!!
I'm a fairly new Uber driver in Los Angeles, going on just over 1 month, but I do have already over 400 rides under my belt with a 4.9 rating so you can say I've accumulated some pretty good experience and so far, thank God, it's been fairly pleasant. What this guy in the video has said is absolutely true. Don't risk it, it's not worth it. Just do your job. It's fairly easy. I drive really, really good. Just make sure to try to engage your passengers because your first interaction with them tells you a lot about them, whether they're shy, rude, nice, talkative, quiet, etc, etc and just make sure to adjust to the situation. But if at all you feel uncomfortable make sure to politely handle the situation right then and there and if you feel that things are going south, pull over at a public place with bright lights, if you can and have them leave your car. You have that right.
Steve Kimble S. I agree with all that you say with one tweak. The main Uber Horror vids come from driver pulling over and saying Done. I'd recommend as you say in the initial feel out noting if you are JUST dealing with a going South miserable person and in most cases as you alluded to you can become Dragnet just the facts stoic , get them to their designated spot and secretly rejoice that you never have to see them again. I wanted to clarify that a pit stop not good for your rating, rep and why give them the satisfaction if minimalism, professionalism and finishing the COMPLETE job can do just as well. I often share the story of how a particularly pretty young lady was snippy and bossy. I boned up on my acting and came across as demure and scared and 30 minutes later, the trip was over without incident as far as she was concerned. What helped me Let her be the Boss is I just envisioned her as some kind of Dominatrix. I know it sounds silly but imagine my inside laughter at the tense situation. Therapeutic laughter.
You as a driver should be able to reverse a cancellation, then the app would take a selfie with u and the other passengers and send it to the canceller.
Not even necessary - the system uses GPS. It should be able to tell if two people are travelling together if their two GPS locations remain matched while travelling.
liquidbraino he is refering to a situation in which your solution doesn't apply. Like: orderer x wants two stops x and z. X gets off at first location but driver still has to go to destination z. Mid destination z he cancels. That's the situation described here.
I respect you a lot for having the courage to share your feelings/opinions on something that could very well make some people feel a bit huffy. This is the internet, after all. Good for you. +1
that risk is a trade for people that otherwise would be working at mcdonalds doing shit with their life. Uber is a job for people with no talents and no drive (no pun). Anyone can drive, thats why eventually this will all be replaced with autonomous cars as taxis because its a mindless job and nobody wants to pay someone for something a machine can very well soon do on it's own.
My first Uber experience was on the way to an airport.... to be picked up from a house clearly marked (nursery with big sign below) and the house on a main junction, near a bus depot.... two calls from the Driver to confirm.... never showed.... good job I leave early for flights... grr Latest experience with Uber is less interesting, they take up all the parking spaces near the Birmingham UK office. ALL the spaces.
Damian Brown you said I was taking them all the way to Edmond. And I got excited than a MF. This the first time I seen some one from oklahoma on TH-cam lol
Brian W they get it in eyes it blinds them until they get boric acid cream in their eyes the more damage it does the longer it’s in the eyes. They can’t breathe takes their breath away. Big trucks can’t carry conceal guns against law for CDL drivers to have gun in trucks so raid wasp spray does the trick. No problem once used they don’t want anything but to get away from it. Shoots real good up to twenty feet. If it’s a crowd hit cig. Lighter real scary flame thrower. SEMPER FIDELIS
Be wary of the warning that most products like Raid bear: "Federal law prohibits using this product in a manner inconsistent with its labelling." That means if you were to use bug spray as a weapon against a person, you can be criminally charged, even if no injury occurs. Protect yourself legally. Get mace instead.
Riley Manning I binged and raid wasp spray is better for distance and accuracy . Plus it keeps attacker’s from arms lengths. Also stated in several statements that it is more harmful than maces. Sorry truckers know best. Mace up close in car yes because raid wasp spray inside car no no. Yes mace in car raid wasp spray in open. Or large limo maybe. SEMPER FIDELIS
I don't understand how Uber can allow canceling an IN PROGRESS trip. You already picked them up!! At that point the button should say COMPLETED/ABORTED (and charged to that point), not CANCEL. -_-
I think it has to do with the fact that unfortunately there are some drivers who will drop the passenger off and then leave it running to try to make it look like it took a bit longer so that they can make a bit more money. So I guess they feel that they have to have some kind of an option available for the customer to end the ride so that all the control is not completely with the driver just think case of something like this does happen, or something just goes really wrong and they get out of the car something like that
zahra shah That actually makes sense, thank you! That being said, just like Uber Man said: if the cancel mid- ride, drop them off right there or as soon as it's safe.
If you became an Uber driver before September 2015, the commission that Uber keep it is 20%. After that date is 25%. Alert: I had a rider that was either stupid or honest or both, she stated that she always uses pool because is half the price, and once she is in the ride, she tells the driver that she is in a hurry or an emergency, and demands from the driver to not to pick up another passenger. Well, I had several passengers already doing this to me in Chicago. Furthermore, if you drive in the suburbs like I do, 1 in every 20 rides that are pool, will not have a second or a third, so you are making less for greater expense. I brought this to Uber, instead of resolving this issue, I got a threatening email, that my account will be deactivated for refusing pool! I think it is fair for the driver to decide if he/she wants to pick up people that request pool. Also, WTF with those riders that expect a limo service but they pay less than they would pay a taxi, let alone a limo service! Remember: Uber is a 50 BILLION dollar corporation, they are like a pyramid, they make money on the new drivers because they are not aware of the trap. Have in mind that at the end of the year, when you file your income taxes, and because you will receive from Uber a 1099 form, you are responsible to pay Federal income taxes, state taxes, FICA/Social Security and Medicare tax, this is an average 1/3 of your pre-25% commission. One more scam is that the rider fee, Uber place it in your 1099 as if you received it, but in reality they keep it! In the suburbs of Chicago, we have to pay taxes to the city, even if you don't drive in the city!!!! On top of all this, and hopefully you do not get into an accident, and if you are lucky that your regular driver insurance does not find out that you have been using your personal vehicle for commercial porpoises! Just remember 50 BILLION DOLLARS IS WHAT THAT COMPANY IS WORTH! They have their HQ in Ireland, and other Tax heaven, they pay little or no taxes, while you and I are stuck with the tax bill. Final thought: How much are YOU worth for them?
I have not used UberPool since January, because of my concern that any Uber driver not driving a licenced taxi or limo isn't properly insured. Uber does not require drivers who choose to drive on its UberX platform to have valid commercial insurance, although if I were starting up an Uber-type company, I WOULD require prospective drivers to: (a) if working no more than 20 h/week, obtain valid ridesharing insurance (b) if working more than 20 h/week, get a valid taxi or limo driver permit, plus commercial insurance I would start using UberPool if I could determine a driver was properly insured. While I was in Edmonton for a short trip in April, I tried out TappCar, a local Uber equivalent, and was very pleased with the service. Because Alberta requires a class 4 commercial driver's licence to legally operate vehicles for hire (aside from buses with seating capacity of ≥25 passengers that require a class 2 licence), it is likely Uber will have to operate differently if it ever wants to bring UberX back to that province. As of now, however, not even taxis or limos based there can use Uber. I hope that TappCar will expand to more parts of the world, and hopefully force Uber to require its drivers to carry valid ridesharing or commercial insurance.
Do you make more money if you drive into the city for short rides? there's a big mall area close to me, like a mini Las Vegas. Hopefully it brings in good money.
Well they now allow you to decide if you want to take a pool trip or not. I see now that they have a no thank you button, that you can click on and turn it down. They are trying to improve the service.
I'm from a South East Asian country. Grab is much more popular than Uber. I'm not sure why cancel is available when the trip has started. We can't cancel once the driver tapped "pick up". If we tap "I've safely arrived" from our app, the driver will charge out credit card and he can chase us off. Uber is really stubborn at these. No wonder Grab is way more popular than Uber over here.
Uber man is right about the insurance. Also, taking cash to finish the ride is a big no-no. It cuts uber out of their cut on the remainder of the trip. I know Uber frowns on that as well. If the trip gets canceled, it's over period.
Rob Koch, these SOB rip off artists should be dropped off, right away, in the most dangerous of locations and made to fend for themselves!! First off, it is *"almost"* a charity, the way it currently is, because the per mile charge is so low, and drivers sometimes have to travel long distances *FREE* to pick up passengers. If that were not enough they pull this kind of crap. SOB bastards!
vicarouza My favorite is when I drive 12 minutes for free. Then when I get there, I get a complaint that I'm 2 minutes later that the app said. And then comes the icing on the cake, it's a minimum fare. Delightful!
Driver Norman fuck Uber's cut. I'd be more concerned about how this all may affect my ability to continue using their platform. I wouldn't worry about Uber's pockets.
When a passenger does something slick such as cancel after you pick him/her up, go ahead and complete the trip, then click on "Help." Select "problem with the passenger." The last trip you made will appear with a box where you can explain that you completed that trip and include the pickup and drop off addresses. Uber will immediately adjust the price. If the passenger wants you to make additional stops, complete the trip, click "Help" and select "I have an issue with the fare," then indicate that you made multiple stops and include the addresses. If your app won't allow you to submit the information or if it freezes up on you, you can still go on the partner website, select help, and enter the information on the website. (I have found that using the help function works faster than sending an email; and if a rate adjustment is needed, it will be done instantaneously.) All of this only applies to the paying passenger. Once that person gets out, the other passengers have to get out as well; because, as you (Uber Man) said, it's illegal to transport passengers who did not request it through Uber.
I have watched many of your videos. They are all great. BUT this video is absolutely the best one with the best advice I have seen. I would have done what you did but I had not even thought about the insurance issue. That is absolutely a show stopper. Thanks so much for everything you do....
Jack Jones I had a mystery shopper. I knew it when he got in the car. He offered me cash, I declined it, and said "you can tip me on the app if you'd like to" After the ride (about 7 miles) he said I did a great job, 5 starred me and tipped $20.
Makes sense, but you could easily prevent that. If riders say that there are multiple stops, you can cancel the ride OR you can drop off the unscheduled stop first then drop the final destination passenger off last. This safe guards you from the originator canceling the request.
I think that would depend on the location of the drop off destinations, if one lives much closer in the other one further they're not gonna let you do a loop all the way back around because that would obviously cost a lot more, they probably just request another driver.
The same darn thing happened to me before but what I did was complete the next to drop offs of the requesters friends then went off-line and contacted UBER. I explained in detail what happened and the locations of all drop-offs for that trip and they did a fair adjustment to give me all my money owed. The last drop off even vomited on my car door and they charged the ride requester for that as well. UBER customer service didn’t give me any issues and the entire fare was added within 30-45 min after I reported it. In all I made ($56 Surge fare) + ($80 Cleaning fee) = $136 for that one trip. Costumer Service is awesome sometimes when you have jerk drivers. I’m pretty sure he tried to fight it but UBER never said a word to me about it and I reported it as soon as it happened while all details were fresh in my mind.
I dont know how your keeping it cool while making this video. I made the exact same video and as i was filming i was so pist i just cursed way to much i had to delete it and not upload it. I know how frustrating it is with this people trying to work you and the system.
People build up a tolerance to painkillers. If you of chronic pain flare ups, youll eventually build up a tolerance and need more for the same results. Same deal with anything else. Granted there is a point where eventually you're tolerance will exceed what you're body can handle but thats a whole different scale compared to this. Like having people blow a 4.7 while not suffering from heavy alcohol poisoning. Thats the magical aspect that has allowed humans to get to the top of the food chain, our diverse adaptability.
+Solidmoon even if he has tolerance to it, it doesn't mean its not destroying his liver, 6 tylenols is 6 tylenols, no one is supposed to be taking that amount, it's literally putting yourself at a health risk.
Christopher Gray ya well he is clearly just peachy and his skin doesnt have the yellowish tint it would have if his liver was acting out. Different people have different physical limitations, his is at least 6 Tylenol a day.
Great public service announcement. I know in the moment shit is tense and people don't know how to act with stupid people but this is great advice to uber drivers.
I have had an uber pick me up and then it about 5 minutes into the ride the driver said I had just cancelled the ride which I didn't. After realising he had picked up the wrong person and drove them in the wrong direction, he politely asked me to get out. Good work uber you just gave me a free ride to nowhere what I have to pay for to get back to where I started.
I once had a passenger do this. The remaining passenger said she was an attorney and would sue me if I just dropped her off in some dangerous area. She offered some cash. It wasn't that much farther than a couple miles though.
Shlomo613 I'd have replied with, "then you surely have a capable phone and can afford to request an Uber ride right? I'd get that going in the next five minutes or you getting out here, or I'm driving to the nearest police station and telling them you're robbing me for a free ride with threats of suing me. What will it be Cherry Mason?" xD
Sue my a$$!! You should've told her, if she is so concerned about danger, you will call the police for her. When the ride is canceled, she is *illegally* squatting in your car. You are under no obligation to provide any "protection" for her by using your car!
This is old, and I assume you're still alive, and your liver is still in tact, but dude, you CANNOT take 6 extra strength Tylenol at the same time. Please don't ever do that again. You really DO need your liver!
Yes I'm still here. I no longer take Tylenol. I suffer from persistent migraines and I had no idea I could die from Tylenol. Now I take 2 Excedrin Migraine pills in a 24hr period when I get one.
Uber Man Are you sure it’s not the first stage of motion sickness from driving so much? I had awful migraines the first month of uber and had to force myself to find several tricks to prevent it...
I understand. I have TMJ disorder that causes severe headaches. Ask your doctor about Botox treatments for your migraines. They work wonders for some. Best wishes man. I know what it's like to heave a headache every day of your life. It's just absolutely horrible.
Yeah, but each pill only has 300mg of acetaminophen. You'd have to take 10 of them at once to total the same amount of acetaminophen Uber Man took with 6 extra strength Tylenol. If you were taking 10 at a time, then I applaud your liver, sir!
Spills51 Yea...the liver can only metabolize acetaminophen so fast. Any excess binds to your liver and breaks it down on the molecular level until your liver is shot. The FDA has dropped the 24-hour limit from 2,000mg to 1,500mg to 1,200mg to 1,000mg now. There were just too many accidential overdoses. I personally don't go over 400mg a day, and it's usually every other month when I get a migrane and I can't sleep it off. edit: Although, I think those are just coedines, right?
stop in your tracks where you are. tell them to continAQue the ride they have to re-request you. or better off uber is on your side that's why they will have the recordings in your car. they will give you the continued amount from first drop off point to end if you contact them. WHO OUYT THERE AGREES WITH ME AND THINKS UBER SHOULD HAVE A DRIVER CONTACT HOTLINE FOR TIMES JUST LIKE THIS INSTEAD O HAVING TO WAIT AN EMAIL RESPONE
+Shane Bean I agree! Uber should have a driver contact hotline for such issues. Maybe all Uber drivers should bombard Uber with requests for a hotline.
I’m watching this in 2018, and looked in the comments, and HOLY *HECK* you’re STILL liking and replying to comments? I wish the other youtubers I’m subscribed to were that cool... Cuz youve gained one 👍
Good advice! I've had to pull over many times for cancellations. As for the cash requests there are many people in downtown Denver that offer large bills if you take them instead of your scheduled ride.
My understanding is that you take passengers to their destination and then email Uber that trip got cancelled before final drop off. Uber will then calculate the full fare and charge customer. This happened to me taking an Ubertaxi fare so I charged his credit card outside Uber system. Explained what happened to Uber and they say in future don't charge customer outside Uber, just email them and they will charge customer.
Never have the rider who is off the app in your car and email Uber later! What happens if there is an accident? You are not on the app and therefore responsible personally as your private insurance will not cover anything.
DrJill SM I highly doubt that. Your insurance is your insurance. It doesn’t disappear because of an app! Mistakes happen. Uber has always adjusted the fair to show what you did! By your logic you should kick everyone out when you lose the signal on your phone when driving in a dead zone. Ops accident dead zone no signal to call for help either what do I do 😪!
They should add a feature for drivers. When the driver picks up the passenger they press a button confirming they picked them up and it locks in the ride so they can't cancel it.
This could be abused by some drivers as well. What if a driver claims they picked you up, but does not, and "confirms" it. The passenger could not cancel then.
Finish the ride. Go on the app. Say the rider ended the trip early.. Adjust the ride. EVERY TIME you'll get paid more for that adjustment than the actual trip.
What if they had something that both the passenger and the driver had to confirm, then the passenger is charged an amount equal to the distance of the optimum path (maybe using Google Maps?). That way the driver can't drive in circles or say they picked up the passenger when they didn't and the passenger can cancel the ride if they WANT, but too bad you already "signed the contract" and you are charged.
I don’t work for uber but I take them throughout the week. I appreciate the drivers so much, since it’s there car they’re allowing me to get in too! These videos help me be a better passenger
Question for you. If your passenger texted you stating, I'm blind and I need you to come inside the doors at my destination and assist me to your vehicle, then assist me to the door at my home would you be willing to do that? I've thought of trying Uber because Paratransit rides are so hard to get sometimes. I'm just worried about drivers leaving and charging me for a cancellation instead of offering the assistance I need. Thanks for your time.
This happened to me before when a girl allowed her guy friend to use her Uber account. She put the wrong location in the system and the guy who was in my car did not know exactly how to get to his destination. He called her and ask for her to give the correct address. She was upset with me because the guy was still in the car. So she canceled the ride while the guy was still there. I did the GPS system with the correct address and took him to his destination without the additional payments. I should have stopped the car once she canceled the Uber but I felt bad for the guy.
Violating Uber's TOS is immoral? Are you insane? Remind which one it is that is making billions by exploiting desperate labor and adding maybe 10% of value to the equation? Because I'm pretty sure it's Uber, not the drivers. If anybody is immoral here it's not the the drivers trying to get an extra crumb or two for busting their ass.
I don't drive for Uber and never would. But that does nothing to address my actual argument. Claiming violating a company's TOS to be immoral is insane. That is not even remotely logical. There is no correlation between the two. It's a business arrangement. Both parties are looking to get as much out of the relationship as possible while investing as little capital as possible. Morality doesn't factor into it. And Uber certainly isn't going to put their best interests behind the best interests of their employees. Why on Earth would you expect their employees to do so? You make no sense. They are not your friend. They are a tool to make money.
I don't understand what got you so worked up. If I drove for Uber; I wouldn't want people to try and rip me off either. He clearly said that paying with cash would null any insurance that would be used to cover any accidents involving the passenger. To take someone without being paid could cost you a lot of money in the long run.
Don't have Uber, don't have a car, don't have a clue why I watched this and enjoyed it
LOL I appreciate the view!
Fuqn UpaRaLad LMAO same
me too. I live in he middle of NO WHERE. I'm talking 110 miles from the nearest taxi.
Up The Ra get a horse
i live on an island...does uber got boats too?^^
Why does uber allow this? Once driver starts the trip as picked up, if you cancel the ride, you should still be charged for the fare. I don't see why uber allows this...
Exactly.
Benjamin Mathew perhaps you don’t care, but here in Mexico you get charged for the whole trip if you cancel once it starts there’s no way you can scam the driver
Because Uber is a shit company that doesn't care about its employees? Become a taxi driver.
One of my friends is a an Uber driver, the area we live in is relatively small and mostly drunk women who been canceling mid trip... usually women out on the town at bars probably didn’t buy a single drink themselves... etc etc.. yea

Some ubers phone died on trip. When he got it charged they charged me 3x the amount saying my trip was long... I got the difference back though.
Hope you did

that sounds sweet man
@Brian Landers You can't rely on being able to drop off the account holder first, that's in a perfect world. I don't understand why Uber allows passengers who don't pay the fair on a driver to rate the driver
What if a driver tried to pick you up while drunk? You going to risk hopping in and probably crashing so you can rate appropriately?
DivideByZero That literally was not what Burnt_Warrior said. They are saying that people who do not pay their drivers should not get to rate their drivers. Also, what Uber driver would be that stupid to drive drunk?? I have NEVER heard of that.... People who try to scam the driver should not get to rate the drivers.
fortune.com/2017/04/13/uber-drunk-drivers/
People are idiots. Driving drunk is always a stupid idea, but people do it anyways.
And it *is* what he said. If your driver shows up drunk, and you cancel because he is drunk, that means you didn't pay him.
Fare*
DivideByZero then you call the police
Uber should disable the cancel option once the driver has confirmed the pick-up.
They need to keep it there as I have picked up people that verified the name and I confirmed the address with them that are not who they say they are and the customer that was to be picked up is still on the sidewalk (I Drive nighttime Friday Saturday)
Drivers could abuse that functionality easily, so no.
RanEncounter exactly
I disagree. I do think that you should be charged a fee for canceling though.
RanEncounter No, they can't. In Grab, there is a 24/7 customer service. If I press that button and tell the receptionist that he tapped pick up without actually picking me up, the driver will get screwed up immediately. They can easily detect my location and the driver's location. If they don't match, then the driver is done.
Driver should still be payed the money they earned before they cancelled the trip. Why is that not a thing?
Emma Taivalantti If you report the situation. you might get some sort of income. I'm sure there is something you can do
Emma Taivalantti because uber sucks shitty ass!!!!
3 years later you're still liking comments? That's honestly awesome.
I don't forget why I'm here :)
Thanks man, great videos.
I’m not even an Ovoo javer but I’m still pissed people do this.
Jessica Ravan Uhmm I never went to Ovoo Javer
Jessica Ravan lmao Ovoo Javer
The kids that said ovoo javer come to my school lmao
T-s Sosa nah b I’m too cool for school 😎
T-s Sosa He went to school but not too Ovoo Javer
Uber should change that. You shouldnt be able to rate a cancel ride
Agreed!
If ur driver is actually crazy and you don’t feel safe why not ask to stop and cancel, rate low and write “felt unsafe”
@@melchiorada then you ask to get off or call the cops.
Afterwards you contact the company. That's why you have all the information of the driver in the app
Yes 💯 %
Once the passenger has cancelled, they CANNOT rate you. So, if you allow them to re-ping , you are setting yourself up for another scam and poor rating. Turn the app OFF, once they are out of the car, then drive away, quickly.
+Jeffrey Fike Good point!
Jeffrey Fike nice to know this Bit of info
Tell them they have to get out and walk 20 feet away for the system to be able to ping your car and not another Uber by mistake and then drive away.
Can you refuse pickups in a situation like that? Like if you didn't turn the app off when it canceled?
Jeffrey Fike thanks for this tip, I'm just waiting for my background to clear before I being
I have taken them to police station and reported them for theft of service
Hell yes!!
the person who canceled the trip was already dropped off. probably wanted to play a prank on his friends or something
no you didn't. They would either walk off, or start beating on you when attempting.
the passenger shouldn't have an option of canceling the trip while the car is moving and until the ride is completed.
I agree.
when i am paying the cash i want control
respect yer security but i want control
Uber? Cash? Then don't take Uber.
so you want the ability to steal.
Nah. If you've ever had someone get in your uber instead of you, there's NO WAY you should pay for it.
What i would do is drive them further from where i picked em up and drop them off! Worth the waste of gas
9,999,999M views
I guess that's illegal
Error404 Not found still worth it lol
9,999,999M views or drop them where there is no WiFi on a random location hahaha
They could claim you were kidnapping them lol
Dalton Campbell ye
How much ya wanna bet that all the dislikes are people that try to rip off Uber drivers?
I'll bet quite a bit of the dislikes is uber itself.
+Alma Ott EXACTLY!!! :) You are on point.
+Alma Ott Download APPlication SSHERPASHARE to Record Mileage
+Mike Kovacic Perfect advise! Thank you.
underrated comment. I hope if this ever happens to anyone again they get full paid for their trouble (surge price)
5.9 surge. Who is ripping who off?
Rex Cowan the person who cancelled the trip. Don’t like surge pricing? Take a taxi. Taxi too expensive? Take a bus
Mike Kovacic Bravo Mile care Jes pametan
Happened to Ryan...
I came from that video
Sarah Ray lol she started hitting them
Sarah Ray I remember you commented from a past video from a different youtuber I just forgot which one
The Highground i love you
Shrek Onion I'm really active on TH-cam and comment very often, I usually get between 100 to 14k likes (yes it did happen on an idubbbz vid) on my comments so it's more than normal that you already saw me
I don't drive or use Uber. I also don't have a licences. But i still enjoyed the video.
Thanks man!
Just stumbled onto this video having no idea this was AAR, I’m like “Randy is that you????”
They rage quit on you. I know that feeling.
AdversaryOne No one stays in Rainbow six siege Ranked I lost my diamond because of it 😭
ive had this and i said get the fuck outta my car.
Richard Schulz lmao
If they cancel in the middle of the trip do you at least get paid up to that point?
+Steve Kimble Nice rating man!! I agree with you 100%.
Over 100 rides a day? Bullshit
Riley Koziol what that math doesn't even add up
Riley Koziol What planet are you from? It's an average of 13 rides per day, not 100. Don't come on trying to act smart when in fact, you're an idiot.
You as a driver should be able to reverse a cancellation, then the app would take a selfie with u and the other passengers and send it to the canceller.
I wish!
I’m not going to drive for uber or ride with them. I’m not going to risk anything to join an organization that is risky to me in my opinion.
I can respect that.
I respect you a lot for having the courage to share your feelings/opinions on something that could very well make some people feel a bit huffy. This is the internet, after all. Good for you. +1
I agree with you completely Earl.
+twarfield1204 Doesn't the union ask for % of the drivers income, since there isn't union Uber they don't have to pay that%?
that risk is a trade for people that otherwise would be working at mcdonalds doing shit with their life. Uber is a job for people with no talents and no drive (no pun). Anyone can drive, thats why eventually this will all be replaced with autonomous cars as taxis because its a mindless job and nobody wants to pay someone for something a machine can very well soon do on it's own.
My first Uber experience was on the way to an airport.... to be picked up from a house clearly marked (nursery with big sign below) and the house on a main junction, near a bus depot.... two calls from the Driver to confirm.... never showed.... good job I leave early for flights... grr
Latest experience with Uber is less interesting, they take up all the parking spaces near the Birmingham UK office. ALL the spaces.
Damian Brown You can always report them to Uber.
Damian Brown you said I was taking them all the way to Edmond. And I got excited than a MF. This the first time I seen some one from oklahoma on TH-cam lol
gage prewitt he said Birmingham uk which is in England so I'm guessing he is from England
That’s what you get for being brummie
Über in Birmingham uk is terrible
I carry a can of raid wasp spray. They try to play stupid I play raid wasp spray. I always carry raid because it’s the equalizer I maces 😜😵
Look up videos here on TH-cam of wasp spray vs pepper spray...
wasp spray is useless, get some real mace.
Be wary of the warning that most products like Raid bear: "Federal law prohibits using this product in a manner inconsistent with its labelling."
That means if you were to use bug spray as a weapon against a person, you can be criminally charged, even if no injury occurs.
Protect yourself legally. Get mace instead.
jlpolcat13 have fun getting charged for assault
TechnoMageB5 I don't get it either, but it happens.
Agreed, they should change that.
They need to change that. Uber don't put up with th e passengers tryn to get free rides...the driver does.
Why is this even possible? Why can't there be something to "block" the passenger from cancelling the trip once they've entered the cab?
I don’t play that.. stuff lmao nice save bro
LOL Thank you.
I get the same with passengers in SF Bay Area. Passengers ALWAYS use uber pool.
I have not used UberPool since January, because of my concern that any Uber driver not driving a licenced taxi or limo isn't properly insured. Uber does not require drivers who choose to drive on its UberX platform to have valid commercial insurance, although if I were starting up an Uber-type company, I WOULD require prospective drivers to:
(a) if working no more than 20 h/week, obtain valid ridesharing insurance
(b) if working more than 20 h/week, get a valid taxi or limo driver permit, plus commercial insurance
I would start using UberPool if I could determine a driver was properly insured.
I'm an Uber driver in the south Chicago suburbs. What burbs do you drive mostly?
Well they now allow you to decide if you want to take a pool trip or not. I see now that they have a no thank you button, that you can click on and turn it down. They are trying to improve the service.
I'm from a South East Asian country. Grab is much more popular than Uber. I'm not sure why cancel is available when the trip has started. We can't cancel once the driver tapped "pick up". If we tap "I've safely arrived" from our app, the driver will charge out credit card and he can chase us off. Uber is really stubborn at these. No wonder Grab is way more popular than Uber over here.
Now that I've tried Uber, Grab sucks imo
Delightful!
Uber already makes a huge cut, who care if they don't make their "share" they already jip drivers.
It's also illegal in some states
Driver Norman fuck Uber's cut. I'd be more concerned about how this all may affect my ability to continue using their platform. I wouldn't worry about Uber's pockets.
1.2k people either use Lyft, Cancelled a ride, or drive a Prius.
Why am i here? I dont even have uber
Haha... same here!
There aren't even any Uber drivers within about 100 miles of me, yet here I am watching this
I don't play that...stuff
candyapu3 he is absolutly right if they cancel get the fuck out ...
Just ask for $2,000,000 that should cover insurance to the most extreme degree.
LOL
Just a small loan
Nah I think a little more than that and it should be fine lol
+Alma Ott They also have a chat feature in the app now. VERY helpful.
Uber Man just be a dick. Drive the 5 miles in the wrong direction
Omg this is when he was going to do Uber vids then he went for rebuilds and I’m happy he did
That's crime for thief, they should've be arrest for that.
TheWalletWaffling "crime for thief"
ah, yes. Crime FOR thief.
MrFallout2 what about “arrest for that”
They committed theft/thievery, they should have been arrested for that.*
The actual crime is Theft of service.
If it's multiple stops you would want the last stop to be the person who has requested the trip.
Maybe call the police to the location you dropped them off
Wow 555 likes :,,,D let's get to 100 gazillion
I feel like it's not illegal to cancel mid-trip. They'd most likely just give them a warning and that's it..
Jesse Mills would be considered a scam which is illegal
If the Uber driver isn't there to show any proof, the officer wouldn't be able to do anything.
Jesse Mills thats why he waits 😐
That wasn't aforementioned.. "Drop off" typically means dropping off the passenger, then leaving the area...
I have watched many of your videos. They are all great. BUT this video is absolutely the best one with the best advice I have seen. I would have done what you did but I had not even thought about the insurance issue. That is absolutely a show stopper. Thanks so much for everything you do....
+Eric Krug Thank you, and you're very welcome.
Uber man looks just like guy from auto auction rebuilds, crazy
This is why there are no Uber/lyft drivers in Austin Texas.
Earl Lewis uber is in Austin.
Earl Lewis lots of drivers lost jobs. The city of Austin made that decision. I knew a veteran who earned $800 each weekend as a 2nd job driving uber.
LynRuiz they brought it back
I literally just took an Uber to and from bar hopping in downtown Austin a week ago.
Jake Weise I’m
Happy to hear that!
Interesting about the secret or mystery shoppers that may be taking a ride checking the driver.
I don’t drive for Uber nor have I ever gotten a ride but this was recommended and it’s 6AM and I haven’t slept so thanks for the information man
Man I'm glad my Uber Lyft trips have been quiet here in West Palm Beach. It's been quiet and peaceful. No bs. great video.
i'm sure 90% of the uber drivers have accepted cash during their time of driving.
AxTenTen
I do.
Unless you count tips, then I'm in that 10% that hasn't :P
AxTenTen Semantics. You are accepting a tip Not a fare. Next World Issue.
AxTenTen don't think so more like 90% don't.....its easier not too
AxTenTen i tip in cash cuz i usually use someone else’s card to uber
I dont know how your keeping it cool while making this video. I made the exact same video and as i was filming i was so pist i just cursed way to much i had to delete it and not upload it. I know how frustrating it is with this people trying to work you and the system.
LTK TECH That's a fact man lol. It really pissed me off!
548 people have tried this
jmastaice 1.4k
Lazzor thousand
Uber shouldn't even allow that to happen
I agree.
take em back to the starting point lol
You cannot do that once they are cancel the trip you are not under insurance you got them off exactly where they're at
Why do them the favor? Drop their asses off on the next exit and they can walk back
You can't take 6 extra strength Tylenols, man.
really though
yes, you can.
you can't snort fentanyl either but I've done it
I've taken 11. What's wrong with that
Kratom (granted the dea doesn't decide to still (*trigger warning*) rape the consumers) is a wonderful alternative to the liver destroying Tylenol.
6 Tylenol's ?? your liver must hate you lol
yeah seriously i hope he was joking, that much will fuck you bad
Exactly what I was thinking...
+Solidmoon
even if he has tolerance to it, it doesn't mean its not destroying his liver, 6 tylenols is 6 tylenols, no one is supposed to be taking that amount, it's literally putting yourself at a health risk.
Thank you.
Randy u look so young man! Btw very informative video 👍
I’m not an Uber driver nor can drive why am I here
I have no idea.
Samantha Kitty i love your shirt!!! MCR FOR LIFE!!!!
What a cutie.
“I don’t play that sh-stuff....”
LOL
Idk why I’m watching this cause I’m 13 and I’ve never even used uber
I appreciate you watching! Thanks!
Same 😂
Perfect advice and 10000% right! I’ve heard of police having to be called to have the passengers removed
I'd never work for Uber but I liked listening to you.
I once had a passenger do this. The remaining passenger said she was an attorney and would sue me if I just dropped her off in some dangerous area. She offered some cash. It wasn't that much farther than a couple miles though.
broke ass attorney.
+Shawn Clear Good point! Why didn't she call her own cab?
+Shawn Clear 😄
Shane Bean for president!
They do
I’m watching this in 2018, and looked in the comments, and HOLY *HECK* you’re STILL liking and replying to comments? I wish the other youtubers I’m subscribed to were that cool... Cuz youve gained one 👍
Good advice! I've had to pull over many times for cancellations. As for the cash requests there are many people in downtown Denver that offer large bills if you take them instead of your scheduled ride.
take the cash hope for the BEST.
What's illegal about UBER ¿ MY insurance company asked me if I was driving for UBER I told them yes , they did nothing to me!
***** above post is for you , I forgot to add your name
They do after your policy reaches it limits.
My understanding is that you take passengers to their destination and then email Uber that trip got cancelled before final drop off. Uber will then calculate the full fare and charge customer. This happened to me taking an Ubertaxi fare so I charged his credit card outside Uber system. Explained what happened to Uber and they say in future don't charge customer outside Uber, just email them and they will charge customer.
leroyybrown Exactly.
UberX they told me I should have stopped the ride. No fare adjustment.
Never have the rider who is off the app in your car and email Uber later! What happens if there is an accident? You are not on the app and therefore responsible personally as your private insurance will not cover anything.
No they don't. They just say you're fucked.
*Who got this recommended in 2021!!*
I wish if you cancelled your ride you would be charged 50 cents more
A dollar would be better :)
Uber Man good point... wait isn't this like 3 years old?
Forget the exit! Shoulder looks like a comfortable stop!
They should add a feature for drivers.
When the driver picks up the passenger they press a button confirming they picked them up and it locks in the ride so they can't cancel it.
This could be abused by some drivers as well. What if a driver claims they picked you up, but does not, and "confirms" it. The passenger could not cancel then.
woah, caught me for a surprise when you said Edmond and OKC
LOL
+Uber Man hey maybe you'll be my uber sometime
Caught me to, i'm from Stillwater
happen to me, i got out the car and opened there door and told him to get out. im from the ghetto homie dont play that lol
LOL nice!!
Departing valuable knowledge. I love it.
Wow this was in my recommended and how far you’ve came is awesome dude
I would have left them on the side of the freeway.
LOL
Exactly what if the next exit is like 20 miles away
Holy shit Randy you were so young here. :O
Holy cow! Edmond Oklahoma, been a long time since I heard that name, used to live there 10 years ago
Finish the ride. Go on the app. Say the rider ended the trip early.. Adjust the ride. EVERY TIME you'll get paid more for that adjustment than the actual trip.
Thank you so much for putting this information out there... I didn't know this because I haven't had this happen yet.
I can’t drive yet why am I watching this
I have no idea. But thanks!
Same 😂😂😂
Uber Man you figured out the youtube algorithm and found a way in the recommended videos. Thats why.
Congratz.
For future reference, its not like you will not drive in the future.
Same
What if they had something that both the passenger and the driver had to confirm, then the passenger is charged an amount equal to the distance of the optimum path (maybe using Google Maps?). That way the driver can't drive in circles or say they picked up the passenger when they didn't and the passenger can cancel the ride if they WANT, but too bad you already "signed the contract" and you are charged.
Yes putting Oklahoma on the map !!!
Tryin to lol
This can be abused too easily they really need a fix for it
Amen!
I should have stopped the car once she canceled the Uber but I felt bad for the guy.
kristenjdec there's a special place in heaven for people like you
Jorge Rivas lol
This is where Uber should let the guy pay in cash. I assume we are adults and can handle paying in cash correct?
Brian Cunningham yeah but uber wants their 25%
Just a thought. Next time give the guy the web addresses for MGTOW.
Oklahoma ✊✊✊✊

Dude has come a long way, probably the name Randy is "SAVAGE" 👍🏼
What an epic intro for a modern taxi driver.
Hey man I live in okc and ma works for uber saying she has alot of fun with it! Keep up the good vids you've earned a new sub lol
Nice to meet you!! Thanks and wish your mom good luck for me plz.
Uber needs to fix that. Seems simple. Once you show they have been picked up, the trip should not be able to be cancelled.
I agree. IDK why they don't fix this.
If you don't like Uber's TOS then don't accept them and find another J O B.
You could say that about just about any job ever.
Of course you could. I don't see how that's a useful thing to point out. It certainly doesn't have anything to do with my argument.
I don't understand what got you so worked up. If I drove for Uber; I wouldn't want people to try and rip me off either. He clearly said that paying with cash would null any insurance that would be used to cover any accidents involving the passenger. To take someone without being paid could cost you a lot of money in the long run.
You said Edmond and my ears perked up. 👋🏻 hey from OKC!
Hey there. I'm in OKC as well.
Hey I’m from okc as well! Nice to hear there’s a pretty big youtuber around.
