  • In this video I show you how to remove the clock in my 2006 Toyota Corolla. This should be the same process for the 2003-2008 Toyota Corollas. The clock is not displaying anything so I show you what I did to get it to work again. I have other videos about my 2006 Toyota Corolla on my channel, if you are interested and have time, please check those videos out. Thanks for watching!

I realize that this is an old video, but I wanted to post this comment for others who may be experiencing this problem. I have a 2005 Corolla CE, and my clock was exhibiting the same behavior. I attempted to perform this repair, but the problem still existed. I noticed that when the weather was cold ( I live in PA), the clock display would work, but as the vehicle interior warmed up, it would go out again. Yesterday, I had the console apart to evict a dead mouse, so I pulled the clock and took it into my shop. I powered the clock from a bench power supply by connecting +12v to pins 1 (B+) and 4 (ACC), and 0V to pin 2 (E) of the 4-pin power connector. I used freeze spray to isolate the faulty component, and I found that diode D1 (located next to the connector; it is connected in series with the ACC pin which enables the display when the car is on) was the culprit. Since I did not have any surface-mount diodes, I replaced it with a 1N4148 diode, and it has been running well since yesterday. I plan to put in back in after I alleviate the putrid odor from the mouse carcass, but I suspect that it will operate correctly from now on. Just food for thought if the above method does not work for you.

Thanks for the video. Fixed my 2006 Corolla clock. The hidden screw under the control knob was key. Toyota likes hidden screws and bolts :) I bought the car new in 2006, it's got about 280000km on it.

Excellent video. I did a replacement in 2016 on my 05 Rolla and without a good video I had to consult a shop about how to get the panel piece off. Those top two clips can be a challenge. Plastic pry tools help. That time I sent the clock in to be repaired, ebay $20, but had to wait a couple of weeks to get the return and take it apart again. This time, before I saw your video, I found one already rebuilt on ebay for $30. With your help it was installed in all of 20 minutes. Now I can solder the previous one and have a ready back up. Thanks a lot for a clear and easy to follow video.

You don’t need to add solder you can just apply heat from the iron on the joints. This does work. Takes about twenty minutes to do the whole job start to finish. Great video and info.

Your solder did not flow onto the parts properly because there is a plastic coating on then. Either skip the solder and just heat the old solder joints or remove the plastic before you solder.

Yours is probably like the Australian version, looks the same but the clock is LCD and the backlight bulb blows, T5 apparently. Seems people replace it with an LED T5. Don’t know why they use a different clock module in the USA version, seems odd to design two different ones 🤷‍♂️.
