I have a couple questions. I own an original Mono/Poly, so I want to know if all features are the same. 1. is the pitch wheel spring loaded? it is not on the original, and this is handy when using it on the filter. 2. The up down on the arp repeats the top and bottom note. Can be cool but often I wished it could be switched to not repeat the top and bottom. Will there be a way to do that? maybe via editor software? 3. The portamento on the original is polyphonic even in mono mode. Meaning the glide rate for each oscillator is slightly different. Is that the case here? (I always wished the rate was the same for all vco's in mono mode)
Great points. I've had an original unit too that I've refused to part with for 30 years now. In my case, the portamento behavior you describe is by far my favorite feature. I've owned a ton of synths, and nothing else quite sounds like this. With the portamento engaged, all the oscillators racing to a pitch at very slightly differing rates produces a natural chorusing effect that really can't be matched . . . even by synths I've owned that allow for a manually set portamento rate per oscillator. There's just something organic about the MP's portamento. Absolutely love it and would like to hear if the Behringer exhibits the same behavior. And the non-spring loaded pitch wheel is another big factor . . . not only because it's useful for filter modulation, as you mention, but it also just feels great for pitch bending. Having a dedicated intensity knob allows you to dial in just the right amount for your style of playing and makes it easy to bend to specific intervals. LOVE THE MONO/POLY!!

No extras is good. I didn't want to buy Poly D exactly because of that. Actual synth features (i.e. modulation and real-time control) are more useful than an seq or fx which will be replaced by a DAW or a dedicated hardware anyway. MonoPoly seems to be a winner.
dustcombo I don't get why some people are like this. Just don't use the feature you don't like. It's not like you're forced to pay huge additional cost for more arpeggio modes either.
@@huukihuuki So should I've bought Poly D even though I don't like it? Lots of useless "bang for buck" features lead to additional clutter and menu-diving. Nothing is forcing me to buy a hardware synth with so many great plugins around.
They've been using a Linn SOUNDS in so many of their demos for a long time now (including this one). I wouldn't be surprised if that was the clone in some early prototype form. As an aside, it looks like his RD8 has wooden end cheeks, which looks rather snazzy.

I'm surprised Korg hasn't still reissued the MonoPoly, nor the Polysix: glad Behringer keeps delivering cheap and amazing (both sound and looks-wise) analogue synths!
Korg made Prologue and Minilogue XD that sounds just brilliant and have a some important features that Behringer don't have - like Patch saving, effects and others.
I doubt we'll ever see the likes of the Andromeda on a commercial scale ever again. It was such an over engineered, complex analog synth. It was in many ways the pinnacle of analog synths before that whole segment of the market came crashing down from digital synths. If someone repackaged the Alesis Ion/micron in an updated package with better controls, I would be all over it. Micron was my first synth, so I'm nostalgic for it. But the depth of that engine was incredible. And the FM on it could turn things into the most broken, organic, weird, interesting sounds that nothing else has really captured since.
At some time I had both the MonoPoly and the Polysix, sitting on a two-tier keyboard rack - it was a hard and dark combo with the power of a deep mine stone crusher. I would love Behringer to clone the P6, but I doubt it, it would be almost as expensive as a vintage one.
Ewww. No. They need to offer all these in desktop versions with no keys. Let’s save a ton of space and cost while using whatever (way better) midi controller we want.
Excellent choice for renewal, had two Mono/Poly's and each one sounded slightly different from the other so comparisons are difficult but this redo actually sounds better (to me at least) than the original which was a bit anemic even though it had a lot of potential. VCS3 next ;-)
Hi, are there any plans to make a desktop version of this? Id love to pick one up but just dont have the space for another full size keyboard synth. I have 2 midi keyboards and some keyboard synths. Maybe i just need a bigger house?
Tough decision. Was sure to buy the PolyD but since no delivery i went for the Model D so I would trade it later... But now I wonder of keeping the Model D and adding the MonoPoly. Maybe it depends on the pricing.
Why not both? In seriousness I bought the PolyD a few weeks ago after falling head-over-heels for my Model D, it's such a characterful synth. Yes it's not technically 'Poly' but the Paraphonic voicing adds an additional element of personality to the synth. It's a truly beautiful thing to behold, cannot fault the build quality, and you can effortlessly produce warm rich tones within seconds of playing around.
@@joepoyda1812 100% I've had my Poly D for a couple weeks and it is such a lovely little synth. I will definitely be getting the MonoPoly as fast as I can get my hands on one.
This...PolyD dosen't even have Osc Sync so you're stuck with a lot of modulation you won't do because it throws the notes out of tune. Even when Osc sync is off on this thing there's a seperate knob to detune so you're still ready to go poly mode without retuning all the Oscillators.

Whenever I see Patrick's face on a Behringer video I know sweet patches and good tunes are coming...
Sold my OG M/P a few years ago. Regretted it instantly. I can not wait for this
Sounds excellent
It sounds amazing. When is it released?
I'm surprised Korg hasn't still reissued the MonoPoly, nor the Polysix: glad Behringer keeps delivering cheap and amazing (both sound and looks-wise) analogue synths!
Korg made Prologue and Minilogue XD that sounds just brilliant and have a some important features that Behringer don't have - like Patch saving, effects and others.
@chief tp Lol, Prologue a one LFO polysynth. What on earth were they thinking?
How about an improved version of The Alesis Ion and the Andromeda done by Behringer?
I doubt we'll ever see the likes of the Andromeda on a commercial scale ever again. It was such an over engineered, complex analog synth. It was in many ways the pinnacle of analog synths before that whole segment of the market came crashing down from digital synths. If someone repackaged the Alesis Ion/micron in an updated package with better controls, I would be all over it. Micron was my first synth, so I'm nostalgic for it. But the depth of that engine was incredible. And the FM on it could turn things into the most broken, organic, weird, interesting sounds that nothing else has really captured since.
I still have my Ion. 3rd one I've owned. Totally underrated but could be so amazing.
It's a shame Uli did not consider an alternative logo for the synth line.
Behringer Polysix with keyboard of 5 octaves please!!!
relax....

Oh! yes!
“Relax don’t do it”
At some time I had both the MonoPoly and the Polysix, sitting on a two-tier keyboard rack - it was a hard and dark combo with the power of a deep mine stone crusher. I would love Behringer to clone the P6, but I doubt it, it would be almost as expensive as a vintage one.
Ewww. No. They need to offer all these in desktop versions with no keys. Let’s save a ton of space and cost while using whatever (way better) midi controller we want.
I like the decorative black keys. They really set it off.
Damn that intro jam is phukin based.
Rip Danny!!!😢😢😢
I can't wait to make this purchase and live off beans for a few months
Wow !!! Great analog sourds 👍🙂
Yess, chord memory! Instant old skool.
I've been trying to set my MG1 to audio rates (as explained at 16:27) , but cannot hear anything...Has anyone here managed to do it?
Really excited about this one.
I used to have the original. This is spot on.
Great synth.and review ! Congrats
I got the Model D . The PolyD and MonoPoly have perfect keyboard/ cases. Is there a setup like this for the Model D?
Excellent choice for renewal, had two Mono/Poly's and each one sounded slightly different from the other so comparisons are difficult but this redo actually sounds better (to me at least) than the original which was a bit anemic even though it had a lot of potential. VCS3 next ;-)
Ordered mine yesterday from Thomann, going to receive it this monday.
Hi, are there any plans to make a desktop version of this? Id love to pick one up but just dont have the space for another full size keyboard synth. I have 2 midi keyboards and some keyboard synths. Maybe i just need a bigger house?
This or the PolyD? I love Korg's products, but that one has a lot more goodies thrown in.
@@validcore Tuning before you play really isn't a bug bear, takes 20 seconds at most, plus it's just part of the style of Synth it's based on. I've never had any issues with notes being 'thrown' out of tune either.
Give me the Monopoly and that(hands crossed) LinnDrum clone that’s peculiarly fuzzy in the intro.
Nah that's the original. It's massive look. I don't think they could turn around a clone this quick, not even a dummy. There's no real point.
Behringer stop teasing me!!!When is the MonoPoly coming out?
That poly arp mode is pretty fucking cool
I’ve never preordered musical gear, hands down going to preorder this when available.
I can't wait for this beast!!! What a fucking souuunnddd!!!!
RELEASE DATE? 😭😭😭
When the RSF Kobol Clone is coming! ;-)
