For any haters about the remake of the linndrum i talked to roger linn via email here is his exact response. Thank you also for your kind compliment. Regarding a LinnDrum reissue, unfortunately I’m more interested in the present and future than the past, so I have no interest in rereleasing my old products from 40 years ago. So for those who enjoy romanticizing the past, it’s good that another company makes such reissues. Best regards, Roger Linn
It's good to see this statement from the creator of LinnDrum. I never wanted those vintage gear, I just wanted those vintage sounds. So I'm happy with virtual instruments that emulate those vintage gear.
Thank you for posting this! And it's a kind and generous response from him. And characteristic of him. He was always more interested in the future and the next project. Cheers.
Musicians before Behringer: I can't afford all the equipment I want to own. Musicians now: I don't have enough space in my home, to buy all the equipment I want to own.
Which is another way of saying they can't afford it. Thing is there are plenty of plug ins to achieve similar sound. If someone makes money out of that then they can buy the bugger house to fill with the gear they didn't need to make music :-)
not that easy. price modified his linn drum for different pitches and he also has a special side chain compression for the special price drum sound. so its not just the drum machine
Most of Prince's early stuff (1999) was LM-1 plus with various pitch tunings and also effects applied. Does this machine have both LM-1 and LM-2 sounds built in?
@@brainslayer666 Well this is a sampler, pitching drums should be easy, and it does have individual outputs, so there's a lot of room to at least get close, as I'm not sure we know in detail what Prince did. I've read he used a flanger pedal too, but I haven't verified it. Assuming this thing sounds like the LM Drum series, I need to watch the video first. 😁
@@Tt-yr9ri actually the time to be alive was when this music and instruments were being used to produce some amazing music. The people that grew up around and with that music that was being made were the lucky ones. Because no matter how they reproduce these, they always reproduce them to sort of encapsulate and adopted the modern technology so they sort of like you know there’s Atari game consoles that they reproduce now in a smaller form or portable. Well, they’re not the same and they don’t even feel the same. In other words, you messed up and nothing can re-create it. Plus, now that’s gonna be mass produced now everybody’s gonna use the same drum machine for like everything and it’s not like it was back then where these instruments cost a lot of money so only the really talented or fortunate had access to them. that’s really focusing on making great music.
I just discovered Anthony Marinelli's channel this week, and had absolutely zero idea he was the guy behind the synths in Thriller. Hearing him name dropped like that after discovering him organically was a wild moment. Shame on me for not knowing my music history more, this video was awesome and some space will have to be cleared in my studio for this machine. What a beauty.
Anthony was the main synthesizer programmer for Thriller and Bad albums. Anthony would make sounds and people like Greg Phillingains and Steve from Toto would play the synthesizers that Anthony we would program sounds for. There is another TH-cam channel called Stories In The Room that Anthony is a part of. That channel also showcases the making of the Thriller album
@@JeffCappelletti-e6l I watched his video on how to program synth basses and I subscribed pretty damn fast. He has so much knowledge AND has the ability to explain it in ways that both a musician and an everyman can understand, we are blessed to have him on this platform sharing his knowledge with us. Thank you for the rec on the other channel! I saw he had a couple of videos breaking down the production of Thriller and I thought that the guy was, rightfully, just very enthusiastic about Thriller. Getting the context for that enthusiasm in this video was amazing, my jaw hit the floor instantly.
Been working on this for a while , it's a big step up from Rd8 etc and it's a wonderful machine to use It's gonna make a lot of people very happy, Behringer are killing it 🙂
Recently rediscovered a set of excellent LM-1 samples, but already know I'm not going to be able to resist buying this. William Orbit was one of the early owners of the LM-1 in the UK when he was part of the band Torch Song, they used to rent it out via ads in the music press - you had to travel to Guerilla Studios in Maida Vale, pay a reasonable hire fee, and give Grant Gilbert your passport until you brought it back :)
Unreal, Uli and the team just keep drooping hit after hit. This looks and sounds fantastic. What a gorgeous piece of gear. And, another banger of a demo from Patch. Well done Behringer.
Be careful to the BLINDING LIGHTS of these marvelous ...and tantalizing.... and sumptuous... and legendary machines !! Dont Buy ! Donnnn' t buy my friend !! 😂😂🤣
"Shout" by Tears For Fears was the first song I recall singing. It was 1990, I was two and a bit years old and I fell in love with that song listening to it on a cassette on a Walkman. Of course, being Italian, at the time I mangled that chorus's lyrics into some weird language that certainly wasn't English, but I loved it and it certainly signalled the start of my musical upbringing outside the realm of cartoon themes and nursery rhymes. Now, to see you guys at Behringer restore the very same Linn that provided the backbeat to that and other TFF hits, and use it as the basis for a new affordable recreation, is even more legendary!!!
Behringer is hardly the name I would've expected to see high on my wishlist, but with the Wave synth and now this, Behringer is really gunning for my wallet. 💸💸💸

They do, supposedly, habe a bx700 mini in development. Mini groovebox and fm synth with an added analog filter. Tho, for the money, the sonicware xfm is hard to beat. Only 4 operators, but great hands on control, each op has feedback and it has an open algorhythm so any op can affect any op.
