Thank you, you are one of the few channels that provide deepest and most honest review about any synth, just the synth itself and not about the brand. I'm sick of people hating on the synth because of the brand it bearing. So many "experts" out there look down on clone like these because they hate the company, which makes newcomer and beginner also look away from those spectacular synths because the "experts" told them so.
I'm glad there was a little box inside a box because I was trying to figure out if the synth was really big or maybe you were really small. Big first box thew me. Thanks for the review.
Glad I'm not the only one who has to turn every knob on a new synth to get sound, even though I've been playing synths for 3+ years. I *really* want one of those. Never thought much of it till I watched the demos, and it sounds so good.
Liking the on camera reviews 👍 the only thing that's stopping me from getting one of these is the lack of patch memory. But this could be a goldmine synth for many people.
I recon that Moog Model D have similar boxes just cardboard and black print =) Thanks Starsky for your awesome rewiews and inspiration, also love your laughing it makes one joyfull Thanks from my heart. Love Cheers
Hello there, I asked a while back about the Jan Hammer sounds. I was wanting to know if you could control the sync filter via the mod wheel. I have a patch on my Kurzweil PC3K6 where you can control the filter resonance with the mod wheel (similar to turning a knob), I was curious to know if you could do that effect with this thing. Thanks man
I think the power supply plug thing is only a regulation if you're ordering from a UK supplier. You've imported this so they're not obliged to send you a British power plug.
It was EU regulatory alignment which meant Thomann used to be required by law to send a UK plug /adapter when the UK was part of the EU. Now the UK is a third nation, they don't have to bother. Along with customs fees to couriers, paying extra for a power supply or mains lead is just another bonus of leaving.
Is a very ,very ,very great sound . also of excellent solid construction. Like the Poly D that I love. In short, I am happy with Behringher products, the first was the MS 101. It's not that I only have Behringher, but Moog Novantion Alesis A6 etc ... I like the sound of every car. Now a very nice IK Synt X pro is out.
I have the plug in version from Korg. I always wanted to know how The Prodigy got that bass sound for Everybody in Place. I thonk this is the Synth they used.Great Price for a great Synth !
Great review, thanks. I wanted an original waaaay back but couldn't afford it so I was really looking forward to this. However, I've also been looking at reviews of the Poly D and I'm stuck between the two. The Poly D has aftertouch and a sequencer which are appealing. Would love to see a comparison video between the two.
Thanks man! It's me again with another question about this synth. I was looking to buy one (mainly because of the sync feature) and was wondering how well this thing could emulate a Jan Hammer type patch. Again, thanks for helping me with the poly d last time!
Hi. That’s hard to say as he used lost of types of synths. The more glassy tones or bell like ones are likely to be digital or samples (DX7 or Fairlight) with strings probably a Jupiter 8 and the sequenced basslines maybe an analogue mono. But it’s really hard to say. I wouldn’t put the Monopoly as typical Jan Hammer… but it could do the basslines and some bell like tones … you could get 4 voice pads as well. In other words you could get something close but it wouldn’t be identical. This is why we end up with loads of synths!
@@StarskyCarr Hi, thanks. The type of sound i was wondering about was the sync lead on Led Boots of the Wired album. It sounds like a keytar, but I was curios to know if this synth could do that.
Thanks for the vid. Can you not get anything musical with the cross mod feature, maybe using higher frequencies on the modulators? I just heard a couple of seconds of some sci-fi and nothing that held to scale. Cheers!
Yes, of course.. this was just a quick flick through the various functions. I think I show more on my Korg vs Behringer Monopoly comparison in the X-Mod section th-cam.com/video/7oVmk1k1M_0/w-d-xo.html
it's still different from the standalone version, of course, the standalone has extra features. but waaw, it sounds so ahh, just to play on it on a Sunday is so satisfying.
I problems so far… I don’t hammer stuff like some folks can though. Everything stays in mint condition - but can have issues obviously. This is still working fine.
It's been MANY years since I last had my hands on a MonoPoly, but I thought I remembered there being a 'round-robin' style voicing on the original synth. Each press of a key cycled which VCO sounded. Maybe I missed that in your video or maybe I'm misremembering!
This one.. I still really like the CAT and Pro1 but the size of this is just nicer to play. A full size CAT or Pro1 would make the decision much more difficult
When I first received my Mono/Poly I couldn't get sound of it either. I thought I had a broken model. One thing that did fail was the power supply after three sessions. :(
Yes. It’s in my rack. One thing I notice against everything else is, like the Poly D, the output is comparatively lower than others. But yeah it’s still here.
For me it's timing.. for a review its important people can get the info before they buy it. I don't get sent synths before release like some other reviewers, so have to really on being able to get my hands on it early enough for reviews to be of any use. Most other stuff is UK, but for some reason Thomann always get the Behringer stuff earlier than anyone else.
@@StarskyCarr there's an agreement between Thomann and Behringer since a few months, for Europe. Called "super partnership". There's a new one for the UK with Anderton. For USA, it's Sweetwater. For Canada, it's Cosmo.
Did you say this cost you £511? I thought they cost £650 new, I'd expect to see used ones for around £500 infact there is a used one in a pawn shop right now for £475.
Costs may have gone up… lots have. All Moog and sequential are now more expensive than it was a couple of years ago. I bought a Rev2 for £1050 new when they first came out. they’re now £1500
I’m not sure if there’s any difference in audio rendering between the 2 tbh, but some people like to zoom in the settings which you can’t do with the 480 version.
Almost... but not with as many pixels!! It uploaded at 480 so I got loads of comments about quality. I thought it'd be better to rectify before it was up for too long. Really annoying that Final Cut changed the output settings automatically, hence why I didn't notice. Also made a few TV shows at 480 without realising as well, which I've had to redo...aargh! But thanks for watching twice :)
@@StarskyCarr It's happened to me too no worries :D But i did notice it was 480 when trying to spy the settings for the 'instagramable' sequence haha, you're right, absolutely beautiful ! Sitting here with my DM12 trying to recreate it somehow lol. Thanks for the upload !
Behringers documentation is terrible, particularly for the td3 found the original Roland documentation much better. Had a read through the sub37 manual and that thing was bliss :D

They are both the same writing wise, the only difference is the TD3 has midi in an out , exactly what was the problem with the Behringer???
yea right who the hell want this at a live situation ? can't recall presets this sucks. now explain why in hell this company will not add a preset bank . i don't understand.. i will not buy this because of that.
It’s the same as the original and all vintage monosynths - it’s actually not that hard to tweak between patches once you know the synths, and part of the fun - designing a set with sounds you can move through. Saving patches is rather useful though.

I could not believe it, I walked in to a music store today and they had 3 of them in stock, just picked one up right away!

Also very clever putting the frequency spectrum on the keyboard
great as always starsky - it is a solid machine, filter adjustment round the rear if you want more range it has it - way up there to dog range
Ooh nice info

26:04 the arp seems to jump to new notes immediately (instead of in time with the arp pattern), is that behaviour that can be changed?
I don’t think so. It’s behaving like the original.
