How do you think about Behringers latest endeavors of copying more recent gear such as the Arturia Keystep? Their strategy to produce reverse engineered devices at agressively low costs, putting pressure on companies that actually develop new instruments and technology, setting wrong price expectations for the customers can be toxic for the market. Dont get me wrong, i love the fact that there is a solid 808 clone that i can afford. But if that means that the classic device of the Future might not be developed because its developer got pushed out of the market by cheap producing aggressive companies i personally think its not worth it.
They also lie about it and claim it was a third party design that they licensed but the guy who designed the Keystep has publicly stated he only licensed it to Arturia and Behringer absolutely has no rights to use it. It's just a matter of time before they get sued. So many people that they have ripped off can't afford to try to fight them in court.
Yeah, maybe you could get interesting loops ... 4 oscillators playing different pitches across a 6 note arp? Possibly some interesting patterns in there... either that or an inharmonic mess!! Still would be fun to try.
I think Korg is most innovative of the bigger brands on a budget scale. Seems no one gives them a lot of credit for that, but here we go- monopoly is one of a kind synth
Being in Europe has nothing to do with the plug.. great machine... we dont buy left hand drive cars because we drive on a different sides of the road..
Good review but people stop buying stuff from big retailers just to save a couple of pounds.. support your local shop or the companies in your country.
I agree, only issue for me reviewing stuff is that people often need to see the demo before making the purchase - so unlike other reviewers who get stuff direct from Behringer pre-release I have to buy them from whomever I can early enough for the review to be useful. with this as well, I was interested from a UK perspective in how ordering from EU would work now... which I think is of interest to a lot of people at the moment. Hopefully people can use this and maybe buy local when they're available.
You're concerned about supporting better businesses and shops but you want to buy a Behringer? The company that not only steals designs from dead people but is now actively stealing current designs from other current companies? The company with zero customer support that ignores all complaints of faulty products? You can also look up reviews from people that worked for the company and see how they suck from that side as well. I'm just saying if you are into supporting less evil companies maybe you should consider supporting the better synth companies.
I shouldn't buy it. I will not buy it. No. Sounds very nice though. I prefer the sound of the monopoly before model D (or the corresponding clones to be specific).

I can't believe people are still falling for this Behringer garbage. Wait 6 months and it'll be a race to the bottom just like all their other faulty synths. Drifty osc, pots and switches that go bad in days, midi that doesn't work right, and a horrible company that does nothing but steal designs and is now actively stealing current designs from current companies as well. In a few months the market will be flooded, people will complain about faulty units but get no response from Behringer, and all the shops will be forced to lower their prices to compete with everyone else desperate to get rid of overstock. Complete garbage. Save your money and buy something better made.

@@MacXpert74 I've no idea either.. just going on what Behringer told me. I contacted their support after a couple of people had mentioned the same thing. It might have been good for them to let people know - as there's a trimmer on the back you can increase the frequencies, but I'm not too confident I'm not going to do something wrong!
The video shows a 'proper' mod (not just a turn of a calibration screw) so at least I can see if it's been done on the one I'm getting hold of :)
It's 480p. Is this TH-cam acting up again?
No.. looks like FCPX rendered it at 540.. no idea why. I'm uploading a 1080 version that I'll link in the description.
Oh no, you mean it's a paraphonic synth with only a monophonic output at the back!? Quoted in the guide as a 1/4" TS output... :(
And yet the headphone output is quoted as being stereo I am assuming as it has a 1/4" TRS output quoted in the same guide?
Answered my own questions sadly... even the Thomann site confirms it in the specs:
"Line output: 6.3 mm mono jack
Headphone output: 6.3 mm stereo jack"
How do you think about Behringers latest endeavors of copying more recent gear such as the Arturia Keystep?
Their strategy to produce reverse engineered devices at agressively low costs, putting pressure on companies that actually develop new instruments and technology, setting wrong price expectations for the customers can be toxic for the market.
Dont get me wrong, i love the fact that there is a solid 808 clone that i can afford. But if that means that the classic device of the Future might not be developed because its developer got pushed out of the market by cheap producing aggressive companies i personally think its not worth it.
Its such a complex subject I can't really respond in a comment here! ... but I might write a book :)
8:36 People demoing synths should do that more often
Lost opportunity here ........to allow the oscillators to be tuned to intervals.
I thought that at first. But it’s easy enough to use the chord memory. Just another way of doing the same thing.
@@StarskyCarr
What about the arping thing though - the way it can cycle through the oscillators - intervals would be nice here
@@asynchronicity I think you can arp the chord mode.
Yeah, maybe you could get interesting loops ... 4 oscillators playing different pitches across a 6 note arp? Possibly some interesting patterns in there... either that or an inharmonic mess!! Still would be fun to try.
PT is Portuguese
Great Channel....
I think Korg is most innovative of the bigger brands on a budget scale. Seems no one gives them a lot of credit for that, but here we go- monopoly is one of a kind synth
The demand is clearly there for analog synthesizers. Too bad other brands are too full of hot air to release the things we want to buy.
I wAs checking the polyD but in my opinion the mono poly is better than the polyD
I had the Original .. Sold it a few years ago... Arrrghhhh !!!
Behringer 2600 Grey meanie hmm do i really need 1??
Who were the 6 sad sacks that disliked this video? FFS!
Behringer haters ;)
Being in Europe has nothing to do with the plug.. great machine... we dont buy left hand drive cars because we drive on a different sides of the road..
Eh...? Something to do with the regs.... The analogy doesn’t stack up I’m afraid.
Why doesn’t Thomann reassure its non-EU customers that we’ll be able to buy goods with a suitable interchangeable plug, not just an adaptor?
Because it's Behringer, not Thomann, that provide the plugs in the boxes. Don't shoot the messenger.
Damn, I want it. Just need 700€ hehe
@@VincentPresley heard it already
I shouldn't buy it. I will not buy it. No.
Sounds very nice though. I prefer the sound of the monopoly before model D (or the corresponding clones to be specific).
What a night mare brexit is
EU is nightmare, not brexit.. its they who tax the shit out of everything, open market my ass
And u dont get a receipt from upc ?very Gangsta
Wait, what?
GB is still European!
Well it's on the European continent but no longer in the European Union... so there's no longer free trade and we have import duties etc just like we do from everywhere else now. transporting goods over the borders has become a massive hassle if you need to return anything.. (well it is if you want your VAT and duties returned from the government!) I've even made a video on the changes since Brexit and how there.s an administrative nightmare faced by anyone doing it.
I see the dilemmas of it all. Wasn't meant to be rude, more like a bad joke.
Just got surgery and was maybe a little aroused by painkillers.
Love what u du and hope u keep going strong
@@janoshe haha no worries. I’ve no idea where you are btw.. so was just explaining why it was an issue. Most viewers aren’t from U.K. or EU so have no idea what I’m talking about or why I’d mention it.
Thomann pricing is shit since Brexit.
Worked out 20 quid cheaper buying it in the UK.
Easier to say it cuts off at 10
shit hurts my ears lol
Hah... sorry about that. I was making sure I hadn’t missed anything. I was certain that one of the knob twists would increase it ... but no.

That wasn't my cat's favorite part.
Two 15s unskippable ads. Stopped watching halfway through the second one. It’s a shame because this is a decent channel. Cheers.
I’ve even taken out some of the the TH-cam suggested ads… ie trimmed what TH-cam wanted. maybe this time of year they’re milking the advertisers 🤷♂️
Leaving the EU has consequences for everyone (and nobody wins, actually). It's just what your country chose. Only the British are to blame for this stupid situation.
Yeah... not all the British are to blame. although we’re all having to deal with the fallout.
@@StarskyCarr Yeah, you're right.
@@StarskyCarr Yeah, it was really terrible not to want some unelected bureaucrats in Brussels deciding what's best for the people in the U.K. 👍🏻
@@sonicimperium don’t want to get into a Brexit arguement - but that’s simply not how it works. All Eu laws have to be approved by the EU parliament which is comprised of elected members. We all elected our EU parliament members in elections.. they approve the law (the U.K. was instrumental in most and voted for nearly all of them btw) The bureaucrat nonsense is just a fallacy spread to mislead people. The Eu has bureaucrats yes.... but no more than most cities... and only a fraction of the bureaucrats employed by the U.K. so following the logic I suppose now we’re being ruled by our own unelected bureaucrats at least? Just what I want .. a load of Etonians deciding my fate! 👍
@Richard South A switch has been thrown across the globe, deal with it. It's the progressives that push politics onto everything by politicizing everything and will continue to do so until you push back. I have a feeling if this uploader wanted to do a video on the supposed injustice/inequality/oppression/etc in the synth world, you'd have zero problem with the of pushing politically orientated social justice issues here. You'd be bending over backwards with praise for the politically-adjacent content I'm sure.
Thomann are Cool tho,
Me Neither After watching damn, i aint paid for my Behringer Oddy jet. ps I feel that Vat buisness. after brexit add 100 to the price from the Eu. and if its broke you lose fees.#buyBritish
This would have been cheaper before Brexit.
Synths, not politics, please!
Escapism through synths
It seems useless : always the same sounds...syths are different in shapes but sounds are always the same.It is analog garbage.
Just got a real Mono/Poly that looks brand new for $1200. It's my favorite Korg ever made and well worth the extra money to have a real synth.
