All the .50 GI is is basically a heavier bullet, it doesn't go faster than a 9mm and it certainly doesn't smack harder than a 9mm it was a ploy, the .50gi is a trash round with ballistics worse than the already ballistically trash .45 acp.

It's hollow point bullet - it was designed like that so the bullet won't simply go all the way through when it hits the body, but instead, the bullet tips expand, create a bigger wound and transfer full energy to the target. Combined with 50 cal it's hard to imagine someone could survive a shot like that.

If you're putting holes in cardboard at a competition 9mm wins in less reloads needed to score. For self defense it's whatever you feel most comfortable with. Humans are easily killed with calibers designed to hunt varmints so there's no need to think too deeply in what caliber is most efficient at it.

I tried hitting a target maybe 50 feet away with a 30 round mag I missed almost every shot, and there were failures like stove piping, trying to double feed. The only cool thing about a switch is how simple they are. The one I saw had both semi and full options depending on which side you pushed on the side of the switch.
