Castaway bay is unironically my favorite board lol. The items change the gameplay drastically due to slow shroom being in the game. You basically either have to bet big that you will be able to make it to the star space, or manipulate your movement to prevent you from getting there quickly. I've had so many hype moments of people swapping between DK and Bowser. It's a shame to see it's placement :( but I understand where you're coming from lol.

While I agree with some of these picks, some like Bowser Land I can’t. The design of the board doesn’t matter. Also you can strategize around the parade. Do you try to get a star? Or run away to make sure you don’t get caught in the parade. Also Bowser’s Warped Orbit is one of the worst boards. Sure its a star stealing board like Snowflake Lake and Pyramid Park which were great boards. This is a linear board where everyone gets 5 stars like usual. But the board’s layout doesn’t work for it. The board is completely linear, and its just a circle. The happening spaces aren’t good either, one sends you to the other side of the board giving you some coins. One has Kamek switch up everyones candy’s which doesn’t really matter because everyones gonna have a Bowser of Bullet Candy, and the Lucky Spaces just give you coins and free candy. Which you’ll always have. Also, don’t get me started on the DK and Bowser spaces. They give and take a star respectively, WHICH RUINS THE WHOLE MECHANIC! HAVING A FINITE AMOUNT OF STARS IS WHAT MAKES THESE STYLED BOARDS SO COOL AND UNIQUE! NOW THERES LESS VALUE TO THEM WHICH DEFEATS THE WHOLE POINT! Also because the board is just a circle, JUST ROLL HIGH AND YOU WILL GET EVERYONES STARS! THIS BOARD IS HORRIBLE
Yeah, Bowser land ranked below Battle Canyon, Midway Madnesss, and like any board from 5 is just nuts lmao. I'd argue it's the best bowser themed level in the whole series.
Glad to see the only Mario Party for home consoles that I own happens to have many of the best boards in the series, makes me glad that it was bundled in with my N64 back when I got it at a used electronics reseller store, also makes me think back to how much the price of used N64's has increased in the past decade since then.
Kamek's Library has been giving me hell with my replay of MPDS' story mode lately, I have had like 4 attempts go wrong just cause a roll didn't go the way I needed it to (for instance I had a duel space roulette just barely pass the "1 star" option when I was going up against the AI who was a star ahead of me on the last turn) Also loosely related but as someone who actually kinda liked Island Tour when I was younger... yeah it was bad Replaying it some after picking up a copy second-hand from a retro game store, I think the mini-games Island Tour has are actually decent overall, it's just the boards that're bad cause of being either way too luck-reliant or feeling like there's no in-between on how fast a game on them goes
I respect everything in this list except Bowser Land and Toad's Midway Madness. For Toad's, one player is always going to be pissed after looping around the starting platform 3 times, wasting at least 6 turns or so. For Bowser Land, I'm just biased.
I think that's maybe the only flaw of that board, maybe if there were some event you could land on or maybe a mini mushroom minigame, at least then you could benefit somehow.
There was a time my friends and I played Toad's Midway Madness and I was stuck in that tiny fucking loop for the entirety of that damn game. It's funny hearing you say "it's not that bad," and "it's a small loop" because that is the only thing I experienced of that game And by that game, I mean the entire game, not just the board
Haven't finished the video yet (I'm planning on falling asleep to it), but for some reason I feel compelled to immediately state that E. Gadd's Garage is dope.
I got personal beef with DKs Jungle. Could've been bad rng, but out of all the games played, it was rare to get past the first Boo regularly. Those Happening Spaces kept getting landed on, sending us all back to the start. We went for a majority of our 50 turn games with the first star stuck at the on the left side of the board, while we got very familiar with the bottom right of the board.
9 is incredibly underrated. No one can tell me this is growing up bias. I got a Wii about a year ago with both 8 and 9 on it. I played 8 first and after a couple months I decided to try out 9. To this day I like that one more.
I prefer the Mario Parties made by Hudson Soft over the ones made by NDCube too. And I always thought that Bowser's Warped Orbit in Mario Party 8 was pretty much the worst game board of them all because it's just so very luck-based and you can't really influence anything. And I like Koopa's Tycoon Town but only if you don't play it for too many turns. Over time the hotels will all become 3-Star hotels and the Bonus Stars will become pretty much useless.
SPOILERS BTW: you have no idea how much joy seeing my favorite board from one of the only two actual mario party games i played being at number 1. I watched this video specifically to see how high it would get placed, as it is my favorite board. Thank you for doing this masterpiece justice. Koopa Tycoon town is without a doubt the best board ever cuz it is super cool and stuff
He opened with Thwomp ruins being last and I knew he was extra Based --- Finally someone talking about the boards which are the main vessels of the Mario party experience. I always see people saying mechs or items or aspects of minigames are the main good parts of games but it always comes back to boards for me. Especially when so many of the titles and SO MANY boards have night and day experiences within the same game. Why can't Nintendo do it right all the way thru for once.
What if you were to rank Mario party 9,10, and and the 3ds titles in a separate video, could that be possible? (Especially since Mario party 9 is a guilty pleasure for me, because kamek never returned as a playable character since)
I’ll end up doing that at some point. I don’t know when, but I’ll do it eventually. I have other rankings planned right now it will be a while before I get to it.
0:12 Why couldn't you say ,,essential Nintendo multipalyer franctiness(es)''? 32:10 But DK's stone statue is in one of 3ds(means: three deck shop) games.
lol Yoshi's island is consider best board but it's not all for people. Funny about Mario Rainbow castle board, they are bring it back in the next mario party game. lol Woody Wood is definitely 1st place unless there's a board that can beat Woody Wood. My complain about all the boards, they are all small like they should make it little bit more big for more fun.
Idk man, i grew up with star rush and every mode outside the main one and coinathlon is not worth playing, and i'm not a fan of the boards of that game, minigames are decent i guess, better than island tour And i guess top 100 is not awful considering the context of being a mario party game released on a dying handheld.
I disagree with all of my soul that Koopa Seaside Soiree uis the best board in Mario Party 4, is it by far the worst in the game and in my top 3 worst MP boards of all time. I hate this board so much.
I highly recommend mixing your audio better. You kept the main audio low and raspy but then the countdown ones REALLY loud. It made it extremely uncomfortable to watch, I had to stop about 15 mins in cause it was very frustrating. Sorry.
@@ryanhlfc yeah i agree if he was not going to rank the mp 9 and 10 boards then he should have changed the title becase he is not ranking all the mario party boards only 1-8 + ds
I swear... EVERYONE freaking loves Koopa's Tycoon Town... I actually hate that board with a passion and it's the worst board of Mario Party 8. I really do not see the appeal of the board, and no doubt about it, I'll always critize it more than any other mario party board. And that includes all of 9, 10, Island Tour, and Star Rushes Boards as even if they are not "exceptional" they have something good that I can honestly praise about it. Why does you, or to be more precise everyone who talks about this board always praise it to death. What makes this board so great? I'm probably gonna get a chance to play this board with friends directly, and see if my opinion changes.... and if it doesn't it's gonna be my EASIEST 1-star rated board that I'll ever give. Especially since there is a broken strategy that forces the other players to fight and try and choose someone to dominate, and yet you can EASILY use that to your advantage. The 2 Lucky Spaces, get 100 coins for each Lucky space (200 coins) Slowgo-dice onto those spaces, snag both Lucky Hotels, then all's you need is to grab 1 more hotel, and you basically have an easy win, if you get 2.... It's Impossible to lose. The true best board of Mario Party 8 and one that is way too freaking low, is King Boo's Haunted Hideaway. That board is perfection.
You talk like 200 coins and slow go candies are easy to farm, the only bad thing is if you play so long that all the hotels have reached max money then you can't do much anymore.
@@mrpiccionedivino5598 that's the thing. In short games (10-20 turns) it's fine. But when you go to 25-50 turns, And it's a long game... That's when it becomes a major problem. If you are skilled enough of efficient enough, and get lucky, you can snag both lucky hotels, have no way for anyone else to get it, and it completely puts you at a massive advantage since the other 5 are fought by all 4 of you. Take control of 1 of those 5, And you are guaranteed winning. Your opponents are forced to decide if they have one person hold all the hotels so you don't win. Leading to two high scores and 2 low scores. But since everyone probably won't want to team up... It's gonna have them fighting over the hotels and you can just sit pretty and make sure you keep that one hotel that it yours safe. If they had just eliminated the 100 coin hotel limit, that would have made this board better.
@@goldenyoshistar1I think it’s very boring against CPU’s, even on very hard difficulty I still win with all 7 hotels at 3 stars. I do think it’s the best board with real players
@corn1zgud4u42 even then... it's awful. My friends and I just played that board last night and 3 of them left after 23 of the 35 turns and it basically resulted in my sweeping the entire game. I could genuinely feel myself falling asleep listening to your audio. Not sure if it's your tone of voice or a lack of enthusiasm, hard to tell.
I wouldn’t say it’s all that bad. Though if you want him to sound more enthusiastic, put it on 1.25x speed.
Great video! As a huge Mario party fan, I can definitely stomach a lot of the placements. My personal favorite will always be Bowser Nightmare.
There was a time my friends and I played Toad's Midway Madness and I was stuck in that tiny fucking loop for the entirety of that damn game. It's funny hearing you say "it's not that bad," and "it's a small loop" because that is the only thing I experienced of that game
And by that game, I mean the entire game, not just the board
Bruh LMAO
11:50 I'm glad I'm not the only one who remembers this pbg video, whenever I see the spinner from twilight princess that is what comes to mind 😂
Haven't finished the video yet (I'm planning on falling asleep to it), but for some reason I feel compelled to immediately state that E. Gadd's Garage is dope.
I definitely disagree with a lot of your opinions but regardless nice video! I’m glad to see someone rank boards and not minigames for once lol.
Warios Battle Canyon is my least favorite. I played the board 3 times and was only able to buy one total star in 60 turns. It’s a miserable experience
I thought the max was 50?
@@NickMario1 played it 3 times. 20 x 3 = 60
I LOVE WARIO'S BATTLE CANYON BEST BOARD EVER
ALSO I HAVE ONLY PLAYED SUPER MARIO PARTY
Bowsers pinball will always be my #1
I got personal beef with DKs Jungle.
I love the video but anytime the numbering comes up the volume is 10x louder than your voice
9 is incredibly underrated. No one can tell me this is growing up bias. I got a Wii about a year ago with both 8 and 9 on it. I played 8 first and after a couple months I decided to try out 9. To this day I like that one more.
I had the same experience but the only thing about 9 i prefer are the minigames and the side modes
Thats literal growing up bias tho
@@lucatriunfo8023 no?
Really well edited video. Good job!
My man sounds like he's gonna cry
The allies are a legitimate nerf as they provide even more RNG that counteracts your choice of die

The Leaning Tower of Pisa isn't in Venice.
It's in Pisa.
I’ve had a lot of fun on Pagoda Peak and Windmillville.
So happy a Mario party 8 board won! My favourite board is shy guys perplex express from that game
Im just happy someone gave ds the respect it deserved.
When he said "except for John" onto hrs pinball map I had to rewind to make sure, That's my name and I DREADED bowsers pinball machine
I also do like the part where Donkey Kong punches Bowser in the face.
So what I'm hearing is that I'm correct in believing in MP8 supremacy
I prefer the Mario Parties made by Hudson Soft over the ones made by NDCube too. And I always thought that Bowser's Warped Orbit in Mario Party 8 was pretty much the worst game board of them all because it's just so very luck-based and you can't really influence anything. And I like Koopa's Tycoon Town but only if you don't play it for too many turns. Over time the hotels will all become 3-Star hotels and the Bonus Stars will become pretty much useless.
SPOILERS BTW:
you have no idea how much joy seeing my favorite board from one of the only two actual mario party games i played being at number 1. I watched this video specifically to see how high it would get placed, as it is my favorite board. Thank you for doing this masterpiece justice. Koopa Tycoon town is without a doubt the best board ever cuz it is super cool and stuff
I will always accept more MP8 appreciation
Here are the boards that I disagree about the placements:
Whomps Domino Ruins
Boos Haunted Bash
Peaches Birthday Cake
Bowserland
Neon Heights
King Boos Haunted Hideaway
Pagoda Peak
Koopas Seaside Soiree
Bowser Nightmare
Woody Woods
Chilly Waters
Clockwork Castle
Creepy Cavern
“I adore Wario’s Battle canyon” (places it at 46)
He opened with Thwomp ruins being last and I knew he was extra Based --- Finally someone talking about the boards which are the main vessels of the Mario party experience. I always see people saying mechs or items or aspects of minigames are the main good parts of games but it always comes back to boards for me. Especially when so many of the titles and SO MANY boards have night and day experiences within the same game. Why can't Nintendo do it right all the way thru for once.
"with an explanation mark" i see why you are a youtuber
Finally TH-cam recommends the content I deserve
16:54 don't think it don't say it don't think it don't say it don't think it don't say it
Great Video! All the haters just gotta cope harder, this is awesome!
Dawg are you ok
What if you were to rank Mario party 9,10, and and the 3ds titles in a separate video, could that be possible? (Especially since Mario party 9 is a guilty pleasure for me, because kamek never returned as a playable character since)
I’ll end up doing that at some point. I don’t know when, but I’ll do it eventually. I have other rankings planned right now it will be a while before I get to it.
finaly! this video exists!
Faire Square is no doubt top 3 at least
Very good list, good work
0:12 Why couldn't you say ,,essential Nintendo multipalyer franctiness(es)''?
32:10 But DK's stone statue is in one of 3ds(means: three deck shop) games.
You should get more credit for the effort you put into this video
Great video, I like it a lot!
Neon Heights deserved better
If rules land is not number one, then we riot
So its nobody going to talk about how morshu from zelda cdi games in the thumbnail
Maromaster 56. I think the ranking sequences kinda reminds of Schaffrillas
Couldn't disagree more about Peach's Birthday Cake. That board with 50 turns is peak Mario Party.
Toad’s midway madness is way too high on this list
Mario Party but we take out 1/3 of the games
Did you just use the YeeHaw from the Bungie Zombie from Plants vs Zombies?
I love Goombas Booty Boardwalk
Pagoda peak needs to be wayyyyyyy higher
lol Yoshi's island is consider best board but it's not all for people. Funny about Mario Rainbow castle board, they are bring it back in the next mario party game. lol Woody Wood is definitely 1st place unless there's a board that can beat Woody Wood. My complain about all the boards, they are all small like they should make it little bit more big for more fun.
honestly i am just wondering why space land is at number 9
Good video!!
I'd take Windmillville over Tycoon Town anyday
The ghost tree is pretty good
Wow this needs more views!
Good video, but also liking clockwork castle and wario's battle canyon? Now that's something I gotta disagree with.
Well I mean, the latter opinion is based on irony alone.
Clockwork castle is an amazing board wtf
Mario Party: Star Rush and the Top 100 were solid entries though.
Idk man, i grew up with star rush and every mode outside the main one and coinathlon is not worth playing, and i'm not a fan of the boards of that game, minigames are decent i guess, better than island tour
And i guess top 100 is not awful considering the context of being a mario party game released on a dying handheld.
WALUIGI HAVE A BEST MAP !
Are you ok bro
I disagree with all of my soul that Koopa Seaside Soiree uis the best board in Mario Party 4, is it by far the worst in the game and in my top 3 worst MP boards of all time. I hate this board so much.
Clockwork Castle is my least fave unlockable board, yuck
Hate me, but Koopa's Tycoon Town is overrated
You sound like Chris from family guy
AMAZING
I highly recommend mixing your audio better. You kept the main audio low and raspy but then the countdown ones REALLY loud. It made it extremely uncomfortable to watch, I had to stop about 15 mins in cause it was very frustrating. Sorry.
You're right but I still finished the video.
mfw 60 is not bowsers magma mountain
Not counting 9 and 10 is dumb but decent video
Bro he said they're completely different from the first 8 + ds tracks so the ranking would be complicated(especially the star rush boards)
@@mrpiccionedivino5598 then he should change the title
@@ryanhlfc yeah i agree if he was not going to rank the mp 9 and 10 boards then he should have changed the title becase he is not ranking all the mario party boards only 1-8 + ds
thats not dumb
not counting island tour is like not counting 8
So dumb i never understand this
@@evolutioner8573 just rank every board or separate the games. Anything else is so arbitrary
(Punishment for them leaving as 8's CPU's are total shit) the one person who stayed, ended up in second place. Overall, our rankings averaged out a 1 star. Yeah, that board is not as great as everyone says it is. And it's massively flawed beyond hell.
@@goldenyoshistar1 I think I enjoy it a lot because me and my friends our pretty equally skilled at the game which makes it a lot more competitive. Also we also just really like the setting of the board and music
I was the 1,000th like!
that was 50 minutes to get through all that lmao says the bad games are stupid yet likes most easy and not fun and punishing mechanics
You sound like Chris from family guy
