Great review. I thought that the wider lens and built in joystick is enough reasons to seriously consider this over the Osmo Pocket. How much focal length do you reckon you are getting after dewide / defish?
You nailed this review, good job. Mine arrives in the mail today. I am most excited to see what accessories are coming for the camera. Today I placed my order for the official base with mic input and Fimi website says there are more accessories on the way. A good set of ND filters will be nice.

Although the fimi does sound good, if you're looking for something to take out to vlog or talk to I recommend the dji osmo, it is better with the tracking, app, accessories, and overall a better camera for vlogging but that's just my opinion

I was curious about your review. A lot of folks have had problems with this device. Bad audio, crashes, sd card issues, gimbal tilt etc. What issues have you seen? I was going to review this camera but was put off by its issues. Thanks stay safe.

How is the sound quality?
Good review, but what about the sound? Osmo Pocket just needs a dead cat and bass boost post edit, so don't need an external mic. Can the Fimi capture half decent audio?
Does it use the same filters as the DJI? Also, I noticed some crawling effect on vertical lines while watching on YT. Was this in the original footage or just an effect because of YT compression? Enjoyed this video a lot ... Thumbs up (already subbed)
Thank you, I appreciate your subscription, ses, it is possible to use Osmo Pocket filters. I unfortunately don't know what do you mean by crawling effect.
@@TheHybridShooter It was movement along the vertical edges of windows and such. I suspect YT.
I haven't noticed anything, but there are usually some artifacts caused by the differences between upload, viewing and screen resolution, so it might be caused by that.
I'm thinking on buying one Fimi Palm, but I have the next doubt, what would be better, a Fimi Palm (Osmo Pocket kinda device) or a DJI Osmo Mobile?

How is the audio quality and can you attach external accessories?
How is the mic performance? Is it omni or directional? It is only same direction as the display? Or does the mic on the camera lens and follows that movement?

Thanks, the 4k video without oversharpening looks indeed very good. I still wish there was a version of something like this with a bigger sensor (1"/1.4 like the newer smartphones) and with a 24mm f1.8 lens.

I've spent too much on extra accessories like wifi module, controller wheel, mount... Features i hope the OP2 will have built in... Must say that the OP autofocus is pretty good now though, and the mimo app is top notch. Stay safe!
Thank you! Just like any other camera, OP is a compromise. I am afraid that with all of the stuff that people are asking built in, it wouldn't be "pocket" anymore, it would overheat or we would have to sacrifice 4K 60p and so on...

As all camera companies know by now, customers always want more :) I'm sure that one day tech will get to the point where there is lot less size/performance compromise. Really enjoyed your Fimi Palm review; very detailed and good points plus nice examples to look at. So far I'm very interested in the Palm (good pricepoint/good fov/good overal performance/good settings), but I would like to use it a bit different: for timelapses and more precise: motion timelapses! Did you get it to work? The fact that you're able to 'program' the movement on this small gimbal would be ideal for me. But so far I've mostly seen rather jerky motion lapse examples done with the Palm and because of that I'm still hesitant about getting one, if it's impossible to get s m o o t h motion lapses. Therefore my request: could you do some motion lapse examples with different settings and movements and give your opinion on that? Cheers, and keep safe!

I think I rather the osmo pocket with the wide angle lens. Having 4K 60fps is just something I don’t want to get away from lol
I wish somone could compare 4K 60fps wide angle lens with FIMI PALM 4K 30 fps :)
Łukasz the osmo pocket loses a lot of detail with the wide angle lens attached. But it runs on magic and fairy dust lol. I made a few comparisons with my full frame camera and it’s almost not worth it to get the get the extra quality out of hauling around a full frame sensor 💯

I almost got a OSMO pocket before the lockdown, but now may have to re-think that. I like the wider angle sometimes to (walking though villages or the woods). Does it have an external mic jack?
You can get original FIMI base, which has 3.5mm input. I am not sure about other adapters.
Hi, thanks for the review. How is picture quality / dynamic range indoors in decent to low light? Like maybe ISO 640-3200 range (I know the camera is auto exposure but I expect you'll know the scene EV I mean). I presume you can't keep windows from clipping in daylight, and does it tend to underexpose white walls?
Might be an interesting video to make, nobody I've seen has done an interior video quality test and considering the size and lens, it seems almost perfect for quick real estate video, assuming picture quality doesn't let you down too much.

Very odd, this is the second review of this that I see where the highlights are completely clipped. Yet, I just saw a guy called Mauro's video, and his footage had great dynamic range. Though he did mention he was using the LOG profile. Were you using the standard profile for most of your shots?
Yes, I use standard setting. This is a consumer device and most people will use default color settings. Using Log profile for most of the footage and color grading footage would be misleading.
@@TheHybridShooter It'd be nice to see it anyway. Any chance you could do a Standard Vs. Log comparison for this? I'm seriously considering getting it but the standard profile is horrible, and most videos online don't specify which profile they use when it looks good.
Most useful review of the Fimi Palm I can find. Was looking at the DJI Osmo Pocket or Osmo Action (I have a DJI Mavic Mini drone which I like and I am positive towards DJI) but field of view is a limiting factor. The Fimi Palm wide FOV is attractive as is price but I was worried that Xiaomi may not have the expertise to develop a good gimble or provide good image quality in the Fimi Palm but you seem to think it’s competitive with Osmo Action or Pocket?
Thank you, as I have explained it is mostly an alternative for those whose use an action camera as points and shoot camera. Osmo Pocket produces different kind of footage.
The Hybrid Shooter Thanks. The upcoming Feiyu Pocket looks even more competitive with specification but at a higher price point although Feiyu has plenty of experience with gimbals. I have one of theirs for another action camera

Can you use the joystick to controll where the camera points. Ie keeping the palm still push left on joystick and the gimbal will pan left ?

Hm, main complain of this camera is wide angle apparently. Coming from GoPro, I 'm looking for some travel point and shoot narrow angle camera without the fish-eye look. Is walking ok with Dewarp on? Is the battery user replaceable?

Hello sir , big question when you say the fimi palm is always in focus you mean like an iphone 11 ( your review) because i have the dji and it can not focus inside and outsidd of the car at the same time. Hi there, I recently got myself a feiyutech wg2x to film my horse riding in the forest.
However I am sending back as I don't think it will be safe (too bulky and dangerous if I were to fall) So now I'm thinking of getting one of these instead but I'm worried about how it will fare on a stuntman chest mount.
Do you think you could do a review with it body mounted, as it would have to basically be in selfie mode the whole time due to the location of the thread. Would be grateful if you could help?

At first, the low price made me suspicious - but I'm gaining more confidence. Firstly, Xiaomi have a reputation to protect. Secondly, to compete with DJI the camera is likely being sold at cost, or even less. The Osmo Pocket is superb, but I choke on the price of the necessary accessories.
I wanted a cheap-as-possible (UK price) camera I can use for vlogging, I don't need very high quality but my smartphone is definitely not up to the job. The DJI Pocket looked good... but the accessories started to make the cost unreasonable (at least for my requirements). I have heard the mic is not good, but the official stand is cheap and you can plug a mic into it.

Yes, it does. I haven't used it for a while, so I don't know about updates.
If you hold it with the gimble down, does it flip the image or is there a setting to invert the image? I want to use it on my WIRAL Lite cable camera. Then I can use the phone app to control the gimbal to shoot the subject as the camera moves past the subject.
It flips the image automatically.

Well , I'd have to say that if I didn't already own an Osmo Pocket that I would definitely get this camera. It addresses nearly all of the short comings of the Osmo, saves you from having to buy brackets and has integrated wifi, and last but not least ...it's cheaper than the Osmo Pocket.
I have seen a lot of issues with the Osmo Pocket auto focus... HOW DOE FIMI PALM PERFORM ON AUTO FOCUS?
As I have explained in the video, there is no autofocus on FIMI PALM. Autofocus on OP was also fixed in FW 1.09.

Idk how but the footage looks shockingly good. If i did a blind test i would 100% say that its from a gimbal stabilized DSLR.
It is good for what it is, but modern mirrorless cameras are still in completely different league.
William, have you heard that FeiyuTech announced its own clone of the Osmo Pocket, called the FeiyuTech Pocket. It has built-in WiFi. I hope you will be able to get hold of one and compare it to this FIMI Palm.

I don't think so, there is no particular reason why should DJI release new OP so soon. It is not a smartphone, 1 year cycle would be way too short.
