Making it a rich environment for artists like Casey. Whereas in LA the density is lower, people are more spread out, they spend a lot of time in cars and suburbs. Less reliance on others, less friction, less stories. Casey is so good that he can do well in LA but he needs pressure to create. NYC provided that naturally. In LA he has to look for it.

I think New York is really their home (and both Casey and Candace realize that), but they are trying to make a go of it (and a new home, obviously) in California. I know they moved out there to be closer to family, but closer isn't always better. You tend to miss people and appreciate them more when you don't see them as often. Sometimes it's more about the diverse environment that provides better growth opportunities for kids instead of "family visits." One thing is for sure, you can plan things in life, but things don't always go as planned. It's better to have tried than not, but realizing something isn't what you thought it was and reversing direction can be the best course of action, if you're brave enough to admit it.
