He was beautiful, his name was Lazarus. 2001 Cherokee Sport in stone white. I was driving along one fateful day, and had a horrible accident. I saw my life flash before my eyes, as my head hit the steering wheel. I'm now recovering from the accident with a concussion, and big cut to my forehead. I had to get 5 stitches. It was not the car's fault, or anyone's fault for that matter. I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I'm just writing this to let you know - replace your seat-belts brother. I'm now in the process of saving all the new parts I put on for my next project: a land-rover series 2 powered by a 2001 jeep Cherokee inline 6, on a 2007 jeep Rubicon frame, with dana 44's front and rear. I'll have Jeep simplicity and reliability with European flair, and an all aluminum body that won't rust. I'll call it "The Land Rover Offender." I'm thinking about doing a TH-cam Channel, but not sure how to start. You're an inspiration.

Hi Dan, I gave my 96 ZJ away to a needy family years ago and just got it back (still runs like a dream). Going through it I noticed the illumination in the cruise controls no longer light up when my lights are on (must like the lights in the door and window controls at night.) I have a question about the wheel splines. You mentioned that they only go on one way but that there is a gap at 12:00 and 6:00, does that mean they could go on two ways? 180° apart? I suspect mine is 180° off because if I am in the center of the steering box travel the wheel is upside-down.

Ive heard of success with both a WJ clock spring and a ZJ clock spring. You just have to make sure they have all the wires for the features you wish to install

Yea, you need a WJ wheel. A 99 00 01 wj airbag, a wj clock spring. Wj clock spring wire connector. Then your gonna have to heavily modify the wj clock spring to fit the XJ. Then youll need the pac swi interference

The wheel it self should bolt on. Your best bet is an XJ clock spring equipped with CC. Not sure if ZJ buttons will work on a 97/98 XJ, please let me know!

Capacitors drain to ground, guess what happens when you disconnect that only... You get dead capacitors. Bad pcm tcm remote unlock you name it, you damaged it. Overtime this is exactly how it happens
i learned that all of the cherokees have the same steering wheel spline! thats awesome cuz that means that i can use the srk-170h hub boss to put a slim quick release and bad ass aftermarket wheel so my fatass can get in and out of my wj better!!

I think you may be good with just the wheel... it depends on your options, radio buttons, CC, will need a clock spring with that wiring. if your ZJ already has it, you're good to go
