    Replacement Return hose has shown up and works great!!!
    Do not use a heater hose like I said in the 1st video!!!
    I can't get the link Amazon closed my affiliate account.
    AMAZON Search
    Edelmann 71296 Power Steering Return Hose
    This is the cheaper/shorter hose. I can't confirm this hose completely due to it not being here but shows the size is correct.
    Gates 349970 Power Steering Return Hose
    This is the 10ft hose I received and can confirm it is correct and fits.
    .....BUT...is way more expensive.
    Thanks for watching!

    Thank you so much for both videos! Doing this right now for my 98' XJ. Very good explaining and I like watching your videos - you're a good man.

    Goal met. Outstanding. Thank you. What I appreciate about this is that the finished product appears somewhat stock. Fits right in with my resto mod theme on my 99 2door.

    The larger return on this WJ pump is from the hydrofan. The smaller outlet IS the one that comes from the steering gearbox. It is the engineered setup, so I don't see why there is a need to do the 1/2" hose mod. The reports about cavitation sound highly suspect. Why would the stock location cavitate? Thoughts? Maybe because without a hydrofan return in operation along with the gearbox, the issue arises? Did I just answer my own question?

    This pump also would work great for a hydroboost conversion. Stronger pump and 2 returns is what you need.

    I'm in the process of installing new pump. Thanks for the clarification. I'm not drilling either. If it starts sounding strange, then I'll drill. I'm also on 33's.
    Thanks for posting and update.
    Looking forward to the next episode.

    I swapped my 96 with the 2002 era brande new lares wj pump and swapped the high pressure fitting and got A 97+ high pressure xj hose to fit. However it is making a whirring noise no matter how much i burp the thing. Im out of ideas besides buying a new pump.

    In regards to your lower radiator hose, get another chauffing guard that is on the upper hose and put it where it contacts the steering lines

      Solid idea but I shortened the hose at the waterpump and it no longer touches the lines.

    Inline reducer 1/2 to 5/16 or 3/8 what ever you need and lose the extra hose

    Update: Gonna have to grab some smaller hose clamps the two I put on are cranked down and not cutting it. I'm running the less expensive version you have and it's leaking like a siev. I am running 35" tires and will say I started with the fitting not drilled out and I could tell 0 difference between the stock xj pump and the new wj one. I then drilled out to 5/16" which is still smaller than the factory hole on the WJ fitting. I feel like it's TOO loose now lol. It takes such small amount of force to turn the steering wheel I think it doesn't want to return to center after cornering with any pressure on the steering wheel. I'm going to go to the junk yard and maybe grab a couple fittings off xj's and play with it a bit more with smaller holes. The people who blow high pressure lines tend to be the ones who drill out to wj ID. Just my observation... I'm running a 4 turn red head box that has a higher gear ratio than the 15:1 3 turn standard boxes so hoping that with only drilling out slightly and the advantage of the 18:1 box my high pressure lines will stay happy. Still buying duralast spare hose to hold onto because of that sweet sweet warranty. Cheers!

      @seanmacdonald8476 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Update 2: i did get some lightly smaller 3/4" clamps but the real trick to stop the leak was to put the clamps on the actual lips of the metal fitting vs in between. At least that's what worked for me! All seems well now tho the pump just seems a bit loud but perhaps I'm just being paranoid. Buddy grabbed me another xj high pressure line fitting that I drilled out to 13/64" and it's a happy medium.

      If your running 35s and have not modified your axle, you likely do not have much or enough caster to have the steering want to return to center. I cut the inner Cs off of my 1976 Ford F150 D44, rotated the pinion to where it lined up with the T-case output then set the caster at 9-10 Degrees and re-welded the Cs. 10 is where Gen Right builds their axles and they wheel there stuff HARD!

    • @seanmacdonald8476
      @seanmacdonald8476 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@tomhubbard353 with the new xj psc pump on the steering wheel basically snaps back to center with the same set up. Agree that caster plays a role but think the strength of the WJ pump is just overriding it IMO. I think i'm running 8*

    I wonder if this will work on the TJ, I put a 4.0 in my sons XJ out of TJ and had to swap ps pumps only because the pulley did not line up(Different pulley). My guess is yes, just not 100% it is an upgrade on the TJ, could be the same pump. I will have to research.
    As soon as I saw you were using heater hose, I thought, OH! That is short lived, soon to be a gooey mess.

    i have to ask... i see u bought the gate 10 foot return lines to replace the 3/8 hose.. the gate hose is now $50 to $120 between local part store and online rockauto.. rockauto is cheaper.. but the question to that is what is wrong with using the wj grand cherokee return line.. they are actually $30 and its cut to fit.. they also look like they are the same size as the gate 10 foot return hose. this is wj grand cherokee 4.7 v8 return line Part # 13404024.. let me know. thanks.

      I think when I did it I was worried about using a pre bent hose would kink up. I went with the regular hose because I wasn't sure about routing it and wanted to avoid that. If I was doing it now and the hose was that expensive I'd definitely try the oem cheaper hose and see what happens. Worst case it doesn't work send it back and try again.

      because there is no hi pressure port to hydro fan...
      pressure line goes from pump to hydro fan then to gear box. the hydro fan is located in line between the steering pump and steering gear box. the fan also has a return to the pump, but not a dedicated pressure feed
