As always, your videos are top notch. Got the linkage replaced inside a couple hours and even think the alignment is halfway decent. My bud that helped me couldn't stop talking about how awesome your vids are. We've used three so far just this month on replacing axles, ball joints, steering gear, and driveshaft. Thanks again, man!
loved this video man. straight to the point, no annoying unnecessary back story, or intro music splash screens, or 20 minutes of nonsense before getting to the actual meat. and you put torque specs in there. legit was refreshing. thanks for you work!
OK, done & dusted! All new steering linkage and stabilizer shock installed... Whew! Took me a lot longer than than expected, but doesn't it always? LOL.. I did the track bar yesterday, and yes, gettin the cotter key off the castle nut on the frame side was a BEACH! Thanks again Ray.. You are the man!!
Im so grateful that you exist and basically have repaired everything on the same model Jeep that I have. Also your videos are flawless. Simple, quick and clear... but so many people mess that up with repair videos
Very well done, young man! "No problems, only solutions." I need to do this to my 1993 Grand Cherokee. I replaced the steering stabilizer and trackbar, but still have a wobble. I think I basically need to replace every steering component and bushing up front.
Did you have your wheels re-aligned after lifting your GCH? Especially check whether the front wheels are not converging. You need to make them slightly divergent. This helps to suppress the wobble... Of course exchange every component, where there is some backlash...
Your videos are timeless with the ZJ’s. You’re no bullshit style is impeccable as well! I watch all your stuff working on mine and it takes away any headaches. (I’m not a mechanic) Appreciate you bro! Thanks
This must have been one of the best videos I have ever seen in terms of information, camera cuts and quality. I dont even own an ZJ and still watched it.
I have a 98 grand Cherokee that had the death wobble. I used your video for this repair, have never done a big suspension repair before, I just wanted to show my appreciation, you are excellent in front of the camera...Da Bomb, hope to see more from you...
Thank you for making this tutorial. I really appreciate your "to the point" d-i-y style, along with your attention to the details, even providing torque specs and socket, wrench and tool sizes. An excellent video for ZJ steering components restoration!
Love your videos. Short and straight to the point. I went with the synergy manufacturing drag link tie rod assembly because of my lift. Its beefy but because of its heavy design it feels sluggish when you're driving above 35mph.
Brandon Klinger I put a 2 inch lift on this ZJ so I just went with the OEM style replacement. Rides great and the wife loves it. thanks for support the channel bro.
Funny story about doing this a couple weeks ago. Was getting everything ready to install, putting the zero fittings on and noticed one didn't have one drilled. I was cursing Moog up and down, Googling how and if you can drill them. So I drilled it out and went to put grease in it and next thing you know grease shoots out a hole in the side.. Yeah, the hole for the zero fitting on the drag link I believe.
leakyjeep5.9 haha seems like moog is loosing their quality. theres a guy with a 5.9 that just commented on this video needing help removing the steering stabilizer, I told him to try hitting it with his purse... maybe you can offer better advice haha
+BARRICADE GARAGE Damn auto correct, I meant to say there was already a zerk fitting on the side for better clearance, so I end up with 2 holes lol. My original stabilizer popped right off, with the right tool(pitman or tie rod puller) and some heat gun action of course.
Yo 1:27 That's that feeling when you finally get that old junk beat out after it's been in there for 20 years. I know the feeling. Love the video. Thanks man
Your videos are a life saver dude. I’m finishing up my 4” rough country lift on my ZJ today and I’ve watched a bunch of your videos over and over for help along the way
I'm doing the same parts to a 96' XJ, this was a great reference to see the parts com apart from the vehicle, even though they are slightly different ;) Thanks!
I’ve been doing the same things to my ZJ. I actually ran out and bought the same Milwaukee tools you’ve been using. Thanks for making these videos. Sure mad my life easier! 🙏
Bro you videos are the best ive ever followed. Simple to the point no bs. Great content. You helped me with using the ball joint remover. Keep that ish up man.
Bro I never comment on any video I watch, But I gotta say... the execution of this video is flawless. great angles, lighting, video/audio quality is spot on. delivery of information was direct, no nonsense, no confusion... I've never been so impressed with youtube content lmao. Big help G, thanks!
Just found your videos. You do excellent work with explaining and showing. Gotta love anti seize no matter what you do it gets all over but well worth it.
Just a tip from the old timers that taught me to you, never ever hit the tie rod ends from the top like you did, instead you want to hit the casting that goes around stud with a mallet as it will deform slightly and drop right down, but hitting it from the top can cause several different issues one of which is a gigantic pain in the ass if / when it does happen.
Doing my 96' soon. Always nice to see someone get on these things before I have to. lol "a little anti seize.. " You mean a shit ton! lol Good job, I feel better tackling it.
PT Johnson Steering stabilizers are similar to shock absorbers. While those dampen the suspension, the steering stabilizer dampens the steering. If you’re driving, and a tire hits a pothole, it tends to cause the steering linkage to jerk, and this gets transmitted to the steering wheel. A steering stabilizer absorbs that energy and slows it down considerably which allows for more controlled steering, and less chance of you losing your grip. However, you dont have to run a steering stabilizer if you have proper steering geometry and I know people with lifted Jeeps that dont, so in that instance it boils down to comfort and preference
Very helpful I will be doing this in the near future; my grease cups oozed grease (not at the top and bottom; out the walls) like the chocolate fountain at Golden Coral one even gushed out water.
This is great - I have a question though... do you know if on your 97, is it the same exact layout as on the 97-01 XJ Cherokee? I'm about to embark on a rebuild myself...
still best video out there came back to do my stabilizer bar after already doing tie rods and sleeve n drag ling n ties to that wound up saving money so i bought a new stabilizer bar just cause and thnx again for the clear video and ibs per on tightening
These are some some quality mf videos lol shout out man, your videos are awesome. Straight to the point, I can hear you loud and clear, and the video is never shaky. You def have a supporter from me
And the fact you give every piece of info someone would need. I.e. what a part does, what it connects to and where. Plus torque specs on each bolt? Bruhhh killing it lol
The only mechanic I watch. But off topic my power steering has a electric solenoid on top of the high pressure side of the pump it's self. I can't find it anywhere, not even in the book. Dealer wants $200 for a new one, and I can't find a pick a part with the same thing. Eliminating it (solenoid) shouldn't make a problem should it? Thanks
Sup man. Doin a lift kit on my 98 5.9 and I’m trying to smash this steering stabilizer out as tie rod is in good shape. How in the hell do I get this stabilizer out of my tierod? I’ve pulled the pin, removed the nut and his thing won’t budge. PBlaster doesn’t do shit. Help me bro!
Very informative - no rambling dialogue or excuses , no BS !!!
- just getting down to business - love it - keep up the good work !
We have no problems, only solutions! Love it man. Great instructions. Keep it going!
Michael Perry thanks!
Camera work and information details are impressive. Thanks.

I’ve done dozens of these on our jeeps and never ever did I consider taking the whole damn thing off at one time. Fantastic video man!!!

Great assistant too! Thanks for all your hard work...
You and BleepinJeep are the most informative channels about Jeeps... Thank you!

Easily the most informative video out there for this process. I wish more TH-camr mechanics would watch this video and see how it's done.
Been searching for a clear and concise video for all of the parts you mentioned and worked on here, so glad i found this!
Your videos are timeless with the ZJ’s. You’re no bullshit style is impeccable as well! I watch all your stuff working on mine and it takes away any headaches. (I’m not a mechanic)
Appreciate you bro! Thanks
Your basic ZJ maintenance stuff is neat, clear and well filmed. Subscribed!
This must have been one of the best videos I have ever seen in terms of information, camera cuts and quality. I dont even own an ZJ and still watched it.

I really like this video because one, it is informative, and two it wasn’t 25 to 30 minutes long like most videos. Well done 👍

Damn, you Rock Dude! You helped me with some of your other videos finding annoying knocks and loose feeling steering. Thanks!
Great video production. Fast simple and easy to follow.
I followed along with this and your wheel bearing video and did it all myself. Would have been much harder without these videos man you’re awesome
I’ve been doing the same things to my ZJ. I actually ran out and bought the same Milwaukee tools you’ve been using. Thanks for making these videos. Sure mad my life easier! 🙏

You the man, awesome easy to follow instructions.
Doing my 96' soon. Always nice to see someone get on these things before I have to. lol "a little anti seize.. " You mean a shit ton! lol Good job, I feel better tackling it.
Nice job. You must live back east where there's a lot of rust because that's a lot of anti seize. Here in Phoenix we don't have that problem. LOL
Very well done. You did an amazing job explaining and demonstrating this entire process. Thank you for all the hard work
Very cool 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 thanks for sharing the knowledge ..... & like everyone else has already posted, great presentation .
You should definitely have more subscribers, quality videos!
Excellent video. Perfect descriptions and camera work

Exactly the info I was looking for. Great video and very informative. I appreciate it! Loved the thumbs up shot!
Great video one best one's I've seen on TH-cam

You make it look easy. Why do some vehicles use a stabilizer and some don't?

It's a JEEP THING, FACT, like a lot of other things.
All your videos are very well done..super informative..no bulshit just work
Thank you
dude : *bangs hammer underneath the car*
girl: what the hell was that?
Next time you need to do your front end look up Doetsch Offroad in Arizona. They have the really nice aluminum steering linkage. I have it on my JK.
I'm about to embark on a rebuild myself...
officialmikethompson yes they have the same inverted "Y" steering linkage setup as the unless it has been modified by a previous owner.
@@barricadegarage5361 Perfect, thank you! This is one of the best, clearest, and to-the-point videos on the subject I've come across.
Awesome video. Thank you for bringing this to everyone who needs it.

The thumbs up and the nod got you another subscriber ! Lol great job on the video very good description of what you’re doing !
Thank you
So now how tall do you need the lift for you to add the steering stabilizer?
Juan Duarte you dont need a lift for the steering stabilizer. this Jeep was at factory ride height
best one I've seen on this..great job my man!
Hey man. Thanks for the great video. Just wanted to know how good is the Detroit Axle kit holding up? Thank you so very much!
Its holding up great. I have that same kit on both my 96 & 97 Jeep ZJs and After 2 years have not had any problems
@@barricadegarage5361 thanks 4 the reply brother, I'll keep watching your vids!

You make really great videos! I might be biased because I have a 1994 Jeep grand Cherokee, but your videos really are good.
Bobby Graham haha but seriously though...use a pickle fork on the actual stabilizer and wack it with a hammer
