G’day Jim from Sydney Australia. The new King has been available in Aust for two weeks and the price is equivalent to USD$240! I bought a Japan exclusive GXW-56 with the old school positive green display about two months ago & I love it! Keep up the great work. Love your content. Looking forward to picking up this new King when the prices drop.
The KING is supposed to be at the peak of the most "RESIST-ALL" G-Shock watches - it should be utilitarian first, not fashion first! POSITIVE DISPLAY is a MUST
I agree with you on the GA-700. It is a better design overall. That is why I am looking forward to the new GA-010, which is based on the GA-700, but of which I find more functional looking.
Hah, you read my comment! I appreciate it Jim| Eeeh, maybe flip the Nasa 6900 and another G shock you don't use and get the KING. It's the KING Jim! Or maybe you can return the 6900? Also just checked the website for Spain where I'm based and they don't have the 2 tone king. Dang it Casio get it together.
At the first place, I don't understand what does it means ''tacticool'', that's some military thing????? Is it cool or is it tactical? It can't be both...definitely it isn't tactical, but is it cool? Yes, it is. As a soldier, a last thing on my mind is to have a big old slice of plastic at my wrist....34 mm Marathon GPQ would be my first choice in front of any Casio, no doubt, but just in a dry conditions, for anything else, a War Machine Mudmaster GWG1000, Mudman GW9300 or a Frogman GWF1000... ''the utility''...what type of the utility? I absolutely love my positive Elephant (the King), but that has nothing to do with any type of ''utility'', that's just ''in your face'' G, a square on steroids, that's it....yes, that's a Mudman's father, but nothing else. (that thing is great, there's no other word...speaking about the durability it's very probably above any other Casio, and yes, it's more resistant to anything cause you're basically pressing a double button, the outer button which is phisically above another inner button, a case above the inner case, including 10 gaskets). I'm really not sure is that new Elephant solar atomic or not, but I wouldn't say it is (I see, it's just a solar and not atomic, which is cheapening again, and I see a thickness of the numbers is a bit different than a good old Elephant). Single tang buckle is not a problem, in my life I've never heard about the single tang buckle being twisted, or destroyed, it's always doing the good job. I don't know how many watches with a double tang I got, probably more than 10, but I don't see any advantage....I see a disadvantage, because a gram by gram is going up.....I absolutely don't prefer a double tang, that's just for show but okay, it is what it is. I don't like CasiOak at all (2100 series) but there's a reason probably why that MRG thing is cost a thousands....a materials, a million more things....I don't like to say that, but it's probably worth that money. I'm not a big 6900 fan since that dial is in my opinion a waste of space, but that thing is doing the job very properly, so why not? If someone likes that thing, cheers, all good, good choice. NASA or not, just to let you know, a first watch ever in the space was a Sturmanskie mechanical chronograph (pilot, military version) at the wrist of Yuriy Gagarin, I think 12.04 1961. good old soviet monster...I would like to have it but I got a diarrhea from winding it every day. good video
I agree with you, nowadays is just marketing around this watches, but most of them have no real utility. The older models were fine targeting different categories of users. I still have the G-9000 mudman which was designed for rally drivers and motorsport, with dual chronograph, 5 second countdown before start, and with the double button design and relatively compact case. I don't have the Elephant, but I'm wearing the mudmaster GWG 1000, which is a great outdoor watch, with sensors and compass. The GW 9500 is the digital version, just like my older gw9400 rangeman. Is there a nickname for this one?
@@JimKinkade The astronauts used a lot of watches for space missions, even cheap casio watches were used. Omega, sturmanskie, Panerai, and more. But I don't know which one was weared outside, without any protection like a spacesuit or other equipment, tested in the cold and exposed to direct radiation.
@@JimKinkade Good accurate Chronograph is the best possible secondary thing in the space, it doesn't have to be waterproof, just like Frogman is the best possible secondary thing for a diver....a time is literally a life, in the space or under water.
What is a'" tactical " color? And why do you need a :tactical" color? Will a tactical color make you feel more like a wannabe soldier. How about black. I like black. I want a black one. With no bright orange accents and no two tone. A black one with a positive display. Yeah that's the G-shock king I wanna see. It will go good with my Kamala for president T-shirt.
All my hair has been pulled out with the King negative display 👨🏼🦲 This latest version is better with the positive display but without atomic time? Why Casio? Come on now! 🤬
Thanks for the mention! You da man 💪🏼

I've got an old GShok king with the orange shock cushioning material showing!
Thanks Jim. The King positive will be my next buy but I’m still going to keep the all black.
Lovely. My backup to my dive computer has been a square G for close on 13 years.

They are very similar. Almost too similar.
Positive displays look decent 😎👍
Agreed! I like the negative display as well but id rather have one of these!
@@johanvandersandt8904 fancy meeting you here dude 🤣😜
They’re listening to us! Finally we’re able to read our watch!
@@thetimebombardier Right? hahaha!
@@JimKinkade Did you ever stress test one of the old ones? I always loved the king but that display was not great.
Everytime I find a used car battery I bring it to the jerks at Autozone for the credit & then spend it on either microfiber towels or blue rags haha
I throw my batteries in the ocean and take the blue rags from work.
the gx56 but with some smart functions, that would be the perfect watch.
You know that's pretty much what the GPR-H1000 is!
@@JimKinkade that's why I got it :)
Negative display sucks!
why?
Exactly!
Ok how much boss
And how can I buy it boss
Here is south Korea
I looked at gshock’s japanese website and it looked like it was still available for ¥23,100. I don’t know if they ship to South Korea.
I believe the utility tools are coyote colored

Me
I have the GXW-56BB and I got foggy glass when hiking up a mountain in the winter. But that was the only time.
Does the gx56 king g have a plastic clasp/buckle on the band?
Want to get this but I’m not sure if it does
The buckle and pin are metal.
@ okay thanks. And that’s for all the versions of the gx56?
I bought two gshocks, how do I get the points?
Did you buy them from the gshock website?
@@JimKinkade no I bought them from Amazon
Has anyone else got the model that shows the cushioning material through the crystal?
The King?
