My old G-Shock DW6900 that I had for a long time died recently, and I had no watch. The GD010 looked good to me, so I bought the black one with positive display (GD010-1) directly from Casio and received it on September 19th. Its #1 feature for me is the highly legible face. I loved my old 6900, but the triple eye configuration above the scrawny LCD display was not a great watch experience. My new 010, on the other hand, has a big, beautiful display, and it's still a G-Shock. The case itself is not too large, and the watch is very comfortable on my 8.25" wrist. It is a Carbon Core Guard build, has a ten-year battery, fits under a sleeve easily, and has all the features one would expect from a G-Shock. This doesn't have Bluetooth which is great for me. All in all, I really like the new 010 and I highly recommend it to others looking for a new G-Shock.
Hey Jim.. I just received my new 010 in the mail today and absolutely HATED the strap on it. It fit exactly as you described. The single tang along with that super awkward side gap made me think I needed to send it back. I had a new double tang strap made for a GD100 lying around and decided to swap out the bands. It looks AMAZING!! The fit & finish looks flawless. No more side gap, more ventilation and much better looking double clasp strap. Wish I could show you pictures, but trust me on this one. .
Been watching your love of the Mudman for a while now - Finally caved and found one I liked / bought. Now, I own this one (GD-010 from Japan) and the new Mudman GW-9500MEC-1JF - I am being converted and spoiled by the Mudman. As cool as this watch is it will never have the premium features / feeling of the Mudman. MUDMAN!!!
I agree with Ken Shivers that solar and atomic time keeping are not all what they are cracked up to be. They are something that one can easily live without, especially at the premium Casio wants to charge for them. I'm happy to not have them on the GD-010 in order to keep the cost down. Sure, if the cost didn't increase I'd be happy to take them.
Hey Bro. Jim. I just received my new GD 010. I have small wrists. You are right. It does have a big gap between the lug and your wrist. But I do love the watch though.

I got the GA-010 ani/digi this week. It's larger than I realized, but the carbon core case makes it lightweight. The analog hands and indexes are extremely legible, and the digital lcd display is very clear. The case and band quality are very much G-Shock and not Walmart Casio. It does have a party trick I didn't realize - pressing the lower right start button give you a "quick start" stopwatch like a few other G-Shock models.
Great video and comments, I'm waiting for your review on the GW 9400 rangeman. This new gd-010 is interesting in this price range. It's a budget friendly option, but actually I would pay a little more for some extra options like solar or maybe multiband 6,atleast one of them. Somebody mentioned that casio may release a better version of the watch, and we will buy it. Just like the metal bezel on the GW 9500 mudman, but it will cost more. They also updated models in the square department. Today I'm wearing the GW 5000U which is a great update for the older version, and very similar to the original g-shock square. Metal case under the resin, and yes this GW-5000U can show you the real time when you are using the stopwatch and timer, or setting the alarm. And you can change the date format on the home screen. The display and digits are smaller but they managed to include the solar cells, and multiband 6. So the strategy will work, as you mentioned. We will buy the better and upgraded versions, even if we already have the original one, resulting in a lot of watches, and before we realize, we have a great collection. My wife asked me about the squares, they are all the same she said. I have to explain all the little differences, the new ones are better, because of........ But fortunately she is very calm. It's a never-ending story. 👍👍👍👍
Entered the contest for the wall clock immediately. I have a Marathon LCD wall clock that is pretty nice. It has atomic time as well but it's no G Shock.
That would be an awesome wall clock! Whooooohooo! Cant wait to see that certain Citizen! I think you are right. Casio knows what we want but releases inferior versions beforehand so that they can sell the version we do want at a premium. Yeah you are right about the king. Its cool but a bit unpractical. I think that if Steven Seagull wore Casio's he would wear a king because its so over the top! 😂 Have a great weekend man!
I have had the GD-010 for about a month now and far as Casio watches go this a one and done. I will still rotate with my other Casio El Cheapos but at least for work and around town this is it. I prefer a 10 battery than solar (10 years between battery changes is great and probably more robust)and atomic time keeping is not essential.
That G wall clock is really cool, it has never been officially available to the public so that's a big surprise...I had a chance to buy it but it was extremely expensive, I don't remember but at least 500 USD (plus the customs) which is a lot....it's cool but also almost 700 USD is not very cool for a wall clock. I would rather buy (I will very probably) a vintage G alarm clock which is even more cool but also about 10 times cheaper. Protrek has never been designed to be a G shock, a purpose is different, even though I absolutely love my Protrek PRW60FC (it's one of my favourites), I wouldn't take it at the same place like for example Mudman GW9300, or a Mudmaster War Machine. Speaking about a wearing it at the wrist It's not just about the size of the watch, it's also about the lug length, shape and the angle. I have no trouble with the GPR-B1000 because with so much ''property'' lugs are almost non existent (there's a couple of really thick good old bolts off course), so it's good to go. A gap usually doesn't exist on all models, because a purpose is different for each model....including a million more factors, like a wrist shape, watch placement at the wrist, lug shape, lug length....for example I got no gap when I'm wearing Frogman (that thing is really special), and that thing should have a big gap since it's designed to wear over a diving suit...so how's that possible? Even though I feel that weight very well....but when you diving (which is a purpose is it?) there's no weight. It's really hard to judge about any watch, will it be too big, will it be unconfortable until you don't put it at the wrist, until you try it. And even if it's bad, make it to be good...that's my advice. good video Jim
That GD010-4A is completely orange, there is a g shock series in Orange that had just came out on their website, guys, if you guys wanna do a video always say ladies and gentlemen, please do that, please!
You pronounced my name pretty close, but don’t accent the last vowel. I bought it at Walmart on-line. Yes, I agree it is a mature design, I am 65 yrs old after all. I can’t wear something that looks stupid.
Got the GWG 2000 1A3JF ! Smashes the rest ! Keep it ! I paycash if i want ! I dont have the need for giveaways and gimmicks ! God bless in Jesus name !

thanks for the info! just ordered a gd010 myself. its not here yet. but if it wont fit, I'll buy a new gd100 strap for 22 bucks.

I’m not sure if the gaps are good or bad.
FOr someone who doesn't work in a harsh environment, like an oil field, is a screen protector necessary for the GD-10?
Help please. My watch sais 9:20. I want it to say 21:20. How do I change?
