Very cool design and nice looking watch! I am glad they put positive display! This watch was designed to be worn on the sleeve (diving suit or uniform) - not directly on the wrist. And you should wear it higher - over wrist bone, where you won't block your wrist.
Great job as always. I saw this but here is my complaint - for the size of the watch the display is WAY TOO SMALL. This is why I went with the GD-010JF (incoming from Japan next week as its not released there till the 8th or 9th). For all the tough solar lovers (like me), I will take a 10 yr battery and not complain as the watch looks better and has a proper display for the case.
I bought this same G-Shock. It is really similar in size to the GWG-1000 and GSG-100 Mudmasters. I also have the GXW-56BB as well. As a former Infantryman, this GX-56TU is the ideal watch for the field. Highly recommend.
got my KOG utilitarian today and here's my quick comparison to my negative display KOG. *its not electro luminescence... only negative displays does have AEL.. *after hours of wearing, it looked like cheap and small compared to my negative display that look chunky and professional (or maybe my eyes just playing tricks on me)
Man, that looks great. That whole series looks great. I'm tempted by several of these too. I don't have that issue with the hand raising because my forearm is so long that the back of my hand will never rub against where I wear watches.
I bought the 6900 version. In person I didn't like the strap colour so I ordered the strap from the recent two tone 6600 from Casio UK. I hope I like the colour combo more. Thanks for the video.
You have almost perfectly expressed my sentiments and experience in your review. I had refrained from getting a GX-56BB owing to the predominantly negative displays, but I decided to get the two tone because of the positive display. I also ordered it from Japan, only to be surprised by the US release. I didn't think it would be too big for my wrist and taste, as I have a Mudman, a Rangeman, and a Frogman, but this one just seems a bit too big even when compared to my Master of G models (granted, I only wear my Frogman for swimming/water activities, but my Mudman and Rangeman both fit comfortably). I have not yet been able to wear it for a full day, switching it out for a smaller square sometime after lunch. 😛 At least this slight disappointment is from it being a bit too large for my taste, instead of it being a limited edition, then NOT a limited edition! 🤣
I bought it from Japan at the end of July, it's very big, I had never had a KING, I really like the color of the strap and the orange writing, they remind me of the GWG-1000DC, I'm just sorry they didn't use the module with MB6, it would have been perfect if radio-controlled
It's very big, but it's supposed to be that way. There's a bajillion smaller Gs and Casios out there. 6.75” wrists and I love my GXW-56BB... for certain outfits. Definitely not a "one-watch-collection" type of watch. As for the negative display, it's solar so auto-light is on 99% of the time.
The older JDM release GXW-56 has both positive display, solar, and MB6, but it is double the price - a great watch if you can get your hands on one. I'm sure if Casio released it worldwide, it'd be a great seller, but they seem to like to save some of the good stuff for the JDM only!
@@edwardsjohnpaul I hope they re introduce the GXW models with MB6 that would be great and even better if Casio releases an MR-G King, MRG-56 that would be so cool.
I recently bought a gwg 1000 mudmaster. Honestly, it's ridiculous. I wear the gw9400 more often. Thanks for the review, I have been looking at the ga1000. Any experience with that piece? Thanks.
Nice looking watch, but too big for me from the looks of it. You never know how a watch will fit, my wrist circumference is 6.5in/167mm, but it's very flat on top, and the heads of the ulna and radius bones protrude, keeping a watch away from my hand. If I try to wear a watch "on the bone" it just slides off and flops around. I've never had a crown push into the back of my hand, even on a very large watch. My main issue is that straps are usually too long, I've had to replace straps on many watches. I can get away with wearing the steel GWM-B5000, but just barely. I think I'll skip this one.
It's really a chonker! Somehow G-shocks get away with being huge, and it helps that they don't weigh much. I'm tempted by this one, but I'm not trying to collect G-shocks, and I'm still quite happy with the GW-5000U. I'm leaning away from this purchase, but it's a cool watch IMO. Thanks for the show & tell with it, Sam. 🍻
Darn it, I've ordered one. It's a bit "out there" just because of its size, but they priced it right. I'll have my fun with it & probably sell it on. It's relatively cheap entertainment, at least.
I have the Jap market only positive screen King of G and I love it. My wrist is same size as yours and if you undo it to to fifth tang like you did when it was looser, I have no issue with any ‘digging’ of the push buttons. Great review.
G-Shocks are the epitome of rugged durability, built for the toughest of men who demand a watch as strong as they are. But let’s be real-these watches, as tough as they are, are just too small. If you’re a man who embodies sheer strength and power, you need a G-Shock that’s at least four times bigger! Why? Because a true man needs a timepiece that doesn’t just withstand the elements but dominates them. A watch that not only tells time but declares, "I am here, and I am colossal." Four times bigger means more presence, more muscle, and let’s face it, more manliness. And you know what? Maybe even that’s not enough. Maybe five times bigger is the sweet spot-because why settle for anything less when you’re a giant among men? A watch so massive it could practically double as a shield, because if you’re going big, you might as well go titanic.
Ordered mines from Japan soon as it dropped. I love the watch but this thing is massive. My garmin 7x pro was my biggest watch. But this Gshock beats it.
Its a great looking G-Shock, but the miniscule (almost unreadable) display looks just ridiculous on a big watch. Casio REALLY need to increase the display sizes a LOT on so many models (newer versions of old models), as this is an area where they're falling behind the competition on.....and quite badly.
@@kms08711 Clearly, you have no idea about designing... Display is the weakest part of any watch. Big display = bigger chances to shatter it, break it etc. Compare GW5000 with GW5500 for example. And if you have problems with reading time from such super displays like Casio does - contact with your optician.
Add Multiband 6 and a MIP display would be nice. I doubt Casio will listen to me. I would swap the strap for black, I do not need a strap to match combat boots.
Casio would never make the perfect watch. This could’ve come with black strap for example regardless of its massive size. That strategy keeps you looking for more
To much plastic and they should upgrade the main display to a bigger and shrink the thickness and make it more sleek design and have more useful features and people will buy it
watch got bigger but same sad small digital cheap display. Why can't they get it bigger .To make it worst negative display. If they don't want people wear watches ,just make it so big.Nevertheless ,it makes sense to wear in the violence street nowadays (In US /UK .) without worrying been damaged during the attack!

I have the Negative Green Display version of this watch & plan to put it on an after market strap to reduce the Lug to Lug
Great review! I really love the 6900 version of this, but I really wish it was at least solar.. if not multiband

I've been a fan since red and black my 1st then orange positive display and black and gold positive display now this one on its way
The only thing bother me about this watch is the small numbers, if the numbers where the same size like g8900 will be part of my gshock collection
just wish it was MB6 as I wonder why that functionality is missing from some models.

Where did you get the bracelet for the square all metal watch mate
This one Chris? tinyurl.com/3xt2vfzf
@@CasualWatchReviews in in the UK it won't let me see 🙈
It was from Aliexpress I made a video on the channel specifically about it
Sir. Did you got the foggy glass issue? I am planning to buy the same siblings i.e gx-56mf-1dr fluorescent color please help
Me
Yup, I have a foggy issue with my GXW-56-1B. Loves the watch but since the lens becomes foggy. It's been laying just on my display cabinet😢
great watch. But it is a pity that the numbers on the display are not bigger
I prefer the GW-9400Y as a large and maintenance-free G-Shock. As a watch for everything, I recommend the DW-5600.
Nice looking watch, but too big for me from the looks of it.

A XXL Square! Take my money,please 😂
If you were military Police Fire or something like that maybe but i don't see this for the everyday person.
Well, there are us silly collectors whom will buy it anyhow. I am guilty.

That’s big…but a I like it. Shame about no atomic time, though. You think being that big, a lot more features would have been added.
All the best.👍🏾🇬🇧
Holly molly thats huge man
This is absolutely true, the sharp part of the watch's side irritates my skin... 2:30
Thanks for the backup I thought i was going to get a few harsh comments after saying that about the wearability 🤣

Wow that's almost comedic. Shame because I love the style and colour. Greta review.
No, it isn´t. I have the stealth black version of the King for 10 years now. 18cm wrist, and wearing it without a problem.
*My man!!! 👊🏾*
Mine is 17.2cm absolutely love this
I got one today! Suits my 9.5 inch wrist 😅
Ordered mines from Japan soon as it dropped. I love the watch but this thing is massive. My garmin 7x pro was my biggest watch. But this Gshock beats it.
Yep I have an epix 2 at 47mm and easily 20mm thick but seems more wearable!
If hockey pucks could tell time.
I have one, and big g-shocks are no problem, and frankly I prefer them...💪💪💪
57mm is not big
That is a wall clock 😂
Casio should chill out with the size
50mm is just fine
G-Shock : King Kong
Looks like a Pip Boy, ridiculous thing is the LCD isnt even that much bigger than your average g shock
It does look like a pip boy! I wish I have thought of that for the review love the fallout games!

Yeah, that watch is friken huge ! It looks like a stop sign on your wrist. 😂😂😂😂
Despite being huge, the full metal is way more easy to read.
Casio G-Shocks series are tool watches. if someone complain about display size etc. - clearly he/she has no idea about G-Shock principles and design.
A tool watch where you can't even see the display 😂
Come on now
No excuse for this ridiculous size
50mm is perfect

Big watch with small display. It looks weird. The display should have been proportionate with it's overall size. Isn't it?
Just wear this thing on your upper arm.
Not so big compared to my mudmaster 1000😅😅😅
Reloj gigante.
pero para ver la hora si tienes más de 40 años no la ves
cartoon sized big.
Those numbers are far too small for the case size. They cheaped out. Stupid big.
