Dude on the yfz450 knows how to race
Body weight difference & mods done made the difference. They would be very close stock vs stock with same weight rider.
They won't close Stock. That Yamaha was king back then. Only thing close was the 660

The gears also make a big difference
Yamaha has always been a faster machine. ( in a lot of cases) but Hondas always had great handling and that’s why they are prefed in most cases with atvs

I love Honda had a 85 200X in the 80s but, after the Banshee and Blaster came out they have OWNED Power Sports
Those older carb model yfz are faster than the new efi models.i prefer the carb one

As a fellow TRX450r owner I would say either that TRX isn’t running strong or it needs another rider there’s no way

Stock head, probably stock or low compression piston.
as a YFZ rider no, both stock a YFZ450 or 450R either way will beat a TRX, if you mod a TRX yes they can get fast

Got a '10 YFZ450X & Raptor 700R-SE..both are awesome. Only Yamaha makes brand new sport quads anymore!

I got the same two quads. Just getting yfz running. But my Honda is pretty fast. It’s gonna be interesting. Whichever one turn out to be the slowest is getting sold for a street bike. Gas prices is killing the wallet

They need to swap riders and see how it goes. My 2001 416 ex w high comp piston port and polish job, racing cam, white bros pipe, jet kit, and I foam uni filter would hang w yfz 450s pretty much dead even until we would hit fourth. Most yfz I rode w had pipe and jet kit, one had the timing advanced or restarted a tooth or whatever that trick used to be w those things for more power. Never got to try me ex on a TRX 450, just yfz 450, 660, or the 700 raptors. The raptors were my fav at a grass field or parking lot. That little 416 starting from a dead start in 3rd gear and slip the clutch to keep it from spinning, there would be some wouldn't even stop at the end of drag to talk I would beat them on grass so bad. Cut turf tamers, I think they sale they now like mine were cut but there isn't a razr or holeshot that will hook like the cut turf tamers

That trx450r looks tired plus that guy probably weighed 70lb+ more than the yfz rider. Whoever has more money in their bike will win. It costs money to go fast.

Hard to say I think the market is still high on sport quads currently so I think for the price range maybe a Honda 400ex, older Yamaha YFZ 450, I’ve had good luck with Polaris oultlaws for that price as well

The yfz is just a better engineered machine for going fast. But I think the trx is more reliable

Well ttheres about 100 pound or so difference in the weight of the riders plus differet upgrades and the rider makes a big difference to ..yamaha is track race ready from showroom and the trx is not but i still think even if both had the same work done everything the same i still think yamaha would be the trx but i wouldnt spend my money on the yamaha id buy the honda or the suzuki 450

The trx 450s aren’t any good till the 07 and up Honda even said they didn’t manufacture them right with the 06 and down
Not much if anything changed from 06-14 man the YFZ was just set up better

I have a YFZ450 with exhaust, intake, jets, ignition and I run all over Honda 450s with cams and other work like nothing the Yamaha engine is just far superior for flat out racing DOHC with 5 valves is designed for torque and high RPM hp that's hard to do but with the 5 valve design it works it's a more advanced performance engine vs SOHC 4 valve Honda its very limited because you can't completely separate the intake and exhaust that gives engineers alot less options for power vs the DOHC the YFZ450 is a great machine great balance and definitely looks better front end on the Honda looks like they grabbed parts from another machine it just doesn't look right handle bars and forward

@lifeatv I don't understand why Honda hasn't answered better with the looks and more aggressive engine after around 17 years I like Honda grew using them seem since the 80s just don't get it how they haven't done anything with those 2 things its been talked about since the beginning they threw it together last minute and never changed it that much, the chassis is pretty good races good just got a goofy look and plain engine that's not nearly as aggressive like the Yamaha and few other manufacturers with DOHC engines
