    Picked the same bike up last spring, it has been fantastic. As long as you understand what your buying, the Zhongshen motor is excellent and similar in performance to the old Honda XR series of 40 years ago albeit with a better frame and suspension. Stay on top of the maintenance and these are really fun little bikes.
    One thing to do is pop your tailight off and caulk around the inlet where the wires go into it, this will keep water out and reduce the chances of vibration breaking the solder joints.

    While I was putting mine together I put the Nibbi carburetor on and the Nibbi ignition FYI attach your fuel hose to your carburetor before you install it it will make it much much easier! NGK I radium spark plug. Changed the rear sprocket to 42 teeth and RK chain. Drain the oil before I ever startedhundredpercent synthetic 10 W 40.. Everything is lubed and loctite . The only complaint that I have about the motorcycle is the body panels can be a bit of a pain. Take a look. That chain needs some proper slack when on the stand. As the suspension compresses it tightens the chain. This can cause the chain to stress the counter-shaft and crack the engine case.

    • @trevorjameson3213
      @trevorjameson3213 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      That will certainly happen if the chain is too tight! At best, it will only destroy the counter-shaft bearing and oil seal. It drives me crazy when I see a motorcycle with the chain too tight, they have no idea how bad that is.

    I appreciate you making the video. My personal experience with owning some Chinese motorcycles is that the metal is sub par, so bolts are constantly striping or breaking, along with brackets bending or breaking. Electrical gremlins, carburetor issues. When you go to buy parts there's no consistency in parts manufacturing and the china ads don't always list precise sizes, so you don't know if what you're ordering will fit. My neighbor has only ever bought china dirtbikes and every camping trip we are either working on them before we leave or working on them the entire trip or both. Ive had my experience with them and for a little more money I just buy used Japanese brands and they work every time I pull them out of the shed

    Being a long time deep woods off trail rider, This is what exactly why I would buy one;
    250 means short stroke, ain't gonna chuck you out over the handle bars like a 650 would/will in first grear low speed low reves.
    No raditor to poke a tree/scrub oat branch through ( solid core oil cooleer added ). 6 speed, so when you do the road there is no whinding the engine out till is pukes holding high speed (which it was never meant to do ). Just the ticket I've been/was looking for over and above my XR650L. Welcomed addition for sure....

      I have a DR650 so I know what you mean about trying to ride tight woods trails with it! Man, those big singles are a handful at low revs, so much torque. I'm thinking about getting one of these chinese 250's also, but I do realize it's not going to be anywhere near the quality of a Honda or Suzuki. A friend of mine I ride with has an XR650L and we take them to Colorado to ride the gnarly mountain trails. They're great, especially when we ride on the highway to get to the mountains from town, great on the road no doubt. But man they are heavy on the trails, they'll wear you out by the end of the day. Lol. I think a small 250 would be great!

    I have the same bike, I got it about 6 months ago, and it is great! Maxes out at 68 mph. The only issues I have had is the sticky starter button, and the rear brake reservoir isn't filled completely with brake fluid. • @AZDirtRider
      @AZDirtRider 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Guys it will push/bump start. Did it 3 times already on Templar X. It appears the engagement of the brake lever must only be to activate the starter. How: 1. Ignition on 2. Reasonable speed (about as fast as a adult can push you / or about 10mph rolling downhill). 3. Pop clutch from 2nd or 3rd. If your bike will not start all of a sudden. It is most likely the that stupid cheap glass fuse setup near the battery. The fuse was good. In my case the fuse vibrated enough to a point it was not making good contact. I wiggled it around and all power came back on. Really good idea to replace that with a blade fuse setup. If that does not solve. One of the battery terminals may have vibrated a little loose causing a poor connection. Ensure they are tight.

From factory even on brand name bikes this needs to be done. Otherwise bearing replacements will be common in your future, depending on where you live. Here in the PNW I have to do this every 6 to 9 months. Also your chain looks tight AF. Def want to have some slack in the chain or you can brake the chain and that can get you hurt or break the bike. Hi from Texas. New Subscriber. I think that’s a Great Deal. If you don’t have a lot of Money but want a Dirt Bike to hit the Trails on, why not get this. After you get the bugs out, and keep up with the Maintenance. These will hopefully last a long Time. I have a Predator 8500 Watt Generator that has a Chinese Engine, and it very reliable. It always Starts right up and hasn’t Sputtered once in the 3 Years I’ve had it so far. Thanks for the Review, I’m thinking I would like to have one. The Price is definitely right.👍👍

    Not bad for the money . I have had a 1980 KX 125 a 1984 XL 600 and a 92 KX 500 all bought new . The 600 was 4,800 out the door plus 200 more for one year extended warranty and 5,200 for my 500 . Now I ride a 09 KLR 650 that I got for 3,000 . So a new bike for 2,100 . A lot more people can afford that and later get something more expensive If they want .

    By the way, do not try to use nylon lock nuts on the exhaust pipe bolts that go into the cylinder head. Also do not use any kind of loctite. In fact there are some types of nuts that lock at the top of their threads that seizes the bolts that you are screwing it onto. I forgot the name of the nut type but it is what's needed for any exhaust pipe whether it is a motorcycle or a car.

    Lengthen the Throttle Cable or create some slack in one that is on it, might also ck out the Throttle Slid top of carb. , if not machined properly, they can stick. I would probably Upgrade the Carb..

    20 years ago or so a fellow I worked with bought a motorcycle from Asia...i'm not sure what country or what company. However the lesson learned then was yes put blue Loctite on everything. I remember distinctly that it lost its exhaust pipe bolts that go into the cylinder head - three of the four fell out!

      Or, just replace the ones that you find lose with 8.8 or 10.9 bolts. Many of those bolts OEM are grade 5 strength bolts, they stretch and threads deform, and easily strip. Ace hardware's got most everything you need esp in farm towns, cuz people gotta fend for themselves.

      @@micwell2247 Any good quality 4-stroke motorcycle oil is good. You can't use automotive oil because of the friction modifiers that will cause the wet clutch to slip. Also automotive oil doesn't have the additives that are needed for a motorcycles gearbox. I usually run Honda GN4 or Yamalube in my bikes, but any of the name brand motorcycle oils are good.
