  • I just recently bought the #mpcone so I'm still fumbling with it a bit. I also bought the #bossrc505 a second time! I realized I have much more fun playing with #hardware vs #ableton. More videos to come! Thanks for watching!

    I had questions about the signal path so here it is! SIGNAL PATH: AUDIO: guitar>Line6HX stomp> RC505>MPC ONE. (Using stereo line ins and outs) Audio from MPC One goes into a cheap Behringer usb interface and then into my iPhone. MIDI: I have tried RC505 as master and slave and both work. Both ways have different advantages/disadvantages. In this video RC 505 is master. MIDI path: RC 505>MPC One>Line6 HX Stomp

    Cool tune... Spendin my day doin tracks with an MPC, RC202 and Yamaha Reface CP today... Funny as right as I was about to start uploading stuff I did over the last few hours I noticed ur vid at top of front page and clicked on it. And ur doin almost the same thing... RC505, MPC and Rhodes type sounds... Even rockin the Vintage Modfied Squier Tele heh... I actually bought all my electronica gear over the last year by sellin off a bunch of extra Squiers I built up over the years by flippin them and building up a hoard for free. I think we may have been separated at birth and our parents failed to mention it to us...

      Haha that’s great! I actually have a red Yamaha Tele copy that I plan to fix up for an alternate tuning. I will definitely check out your channel. I am really interested in what you’re doing! Hope to see you around. Thanks for dropping by! 👊🏻

    Hey, great sounds! I am considering getting the MPC and have the RC505, which I use with guitar and a synth. Would you mind explaining the signal flow? Thanks!

    This is great to see. I've got a RC505 but I've been thinking of selling it as I sequence and loop with the MPC. Would you still recommend the RC505 even though you have an MPC that can loop as well?

    • @JoshElliottMusic
      @JoshElliottMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have not tried the looper in the MPC yet. I will have to give that a test sometime. I don’t think I would get rid of my 505 personally just because I love it as a standalone unit and it does exactly what I need. Thanks for the comment Luke.

    Awesome! I just ordered an mpc one and have been eyeing the 505 for a bit too. Do you find the 505 just easier for looping? Asking because I was hoping the mpc could take care of all the looping without more gear. Thanks!

    • @JoshElliottMusic
      @JoshElliottMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! If you are planning to live loop with audio you can’t beat the 505. I’m planning to make a video about why I think it’s the best looper out right now. The MPC One an awesome sampler,drum machine groove box but the MPC “looper” is pretty much a joke. I wouldn’t recommend it if you are serious about looping.

      You might consider the Boss 202 or RC500 as well if you only need 2 tracks

    Hello, could you tell me how you connected your keyboard, your mpc one and RC505 please.
    I have a north stage 3 keyboard, an MPC one and an RC 505

    Are you running the MPC in regular project mode? As if you were making a beat?

    • @JoshElliottMusic
      @JoshElliottMusic  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. I’m just live recording into an empty sequence at the beginning BUT later on I switch to another sequence that was prerecorded and has some slight variations.

    Hey Josh, I'm glad I thought about asking you this question...
    I have a beat going on the MPC One that I have going from the audio out input into the Boss RC-505 input. I have the beat that I want to hear and have on the MPC One beat, coming through to the effects on the Boss RC-505, and I can hear it in the headphone jack of the Boss RC-505, but I want those Boss RC-505 effects to come into my MPC One beat? How could I achieve that? I don't know if it's even possible, because I do not want to have to record the beat through and into one of the Boss RC-505 tracks, and then re-record it into the MPC One, if you know what I mean? I honestly can't figure it out? I just want the effects on the Boss RC-505 to be applied to my song in the MPC One?...SBN RESONATE

      Sorry I missed this question. Maybe you figured it out by now. It sounds like in this use case you want to basically use the 505 as an fx unit. You could go out of the MPC into the 505 and then back into the MPC and resample into either the MPC sampler or the MPC looper. Not sure if I’m on the right track with what you are trying to do

    Hey Josh, could you please explain how you have the keyboard, Boss RC-505 and the MPC One hooked up, and what inputs and wires your using? I have this same setup, I just haven't hooked them up together yet? I want to use my Boss RC-505 to do the lyrics with, and aux a Zoom H2N mic into the Boss RC-505, to go through into the MPC One? Any extra advice will help? Thanks...SBN RESONATE

      Hey! I’ve had so many questions about this. I’m thinking I need to do a video walk through. Real quick though it’s midi out of 505 into midi in of the MPC. The usb midi keyboard is going into the MPC via usb. The audio outs of the RC 505 are going into the inputs of the MPC. The 505 is midi master in this case. Interesting use of the Zoom mic. I don’t know for sure but that should work. Just be careful of levels. I’ll put it on my to do list to make a video walk through that goes into more detail. Keep an eye on the channel. Hope to see ya around!

      Hey Josh, I'm back again. I have a Roland JD-XI in the place of your keyboard. If I want the sounds from it to be heard, and to play those sounds, will the usb cable send sound and information into the Boss RC-505, or is it the MPC One? I have the Boss RC-505, the MPC One and the Roland JD-XI, but I can't figure out how to sync the audio up together? Are you listening to the audio through the MPC One or the Boss RC-505?...SBN RESONATE

      I am monitoring all audio in this video through the MPC One. I do not take the MPC audio into the 505 so it could bypass the 505. If I had the JDXI I would run it’s audio outs into the rc 505 inputs so it’s audio could be looped. In another set up I do hook things up differently though. So many options of how to hook things up but I hope that helps.

    Josh this sounds great. I'm a guitar playing looking to get into looping etc. I have a question if you know the answer- can you take the loop you recorded on the loop station and assisgn that sound to a pad on the mpc and manipulate on that device- ie add it to a drum sequence, chop it up, etc etc in a live real time performance? Not sure how this would sound but I thought it would be a cool idea to add some interest to repeating loops.

      Thanks! That would be pretty hard on the set up in this video. I’ve since switched to Loopy Pro and you can definitely do that kind of thing. Loopy Pro has a feature that lets you automatically slice the loop up and play back the slices. All in real time!

      @@SpeedGraphicsTVNice. That’s a solid looper. If you are interested in Loopy Pro I have some other videos on here using it and the Loopy Pro Facebook group is a great resource. It’s a really great looping system. I’ve now sold most of my hardware

      @@JoshElliottMusic Ok great thanks for that insight. What would you recommend to compliment the setup- looks.like LP runs on an iPad but I assume you need some controller to make iit easy to work with. I started watching the intro video on their website and the demo never touched the iPad. He was using some controller. Thanks again for taking the time to lend some guidance. It's appreciated!
