  • At this point I'm trying to find a job for the #novationcircuit. A timekeeper and quirky synth seem to work well in this set-up. I'm still learning it's workflow. As for the #mpclive it's holding down the bass and kick duties. #livelooping with the #bossrc505 is super fun and I'm getting very comfortable with it. Now I just have to dial in my muscle memory on all of this! What is this strange jam? #techno? #nudisco? Who knows... but it was fun!

    Can you tell me how you hook it all together? I have a 505 and just ordered the mpc one. Hoping to go DAWless. I also want to plug in an electric bass. Basically, I want to be you when I grow up. 🤘🏼🙏

    • @JoshElliottMusic
      @JoshElliottMusic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thanks haha! Sorry I missed your comment but I hope this helps. I have the 505 is master and the Circuit is midi synced to the MPC. I have the circuit audio going through the MPC so I can use the MPC XY effects on the Circuit. The 505 and Live run Into their own separate mixer channels so I can mute each one and have dedicated monitoring in the ears. There are a few different ways to route things though to achieve the same results. Let me know if you have your MPC and how it worked out. Let me know if you have questions bro.

      @@yamancorporation942 Thank you! I have the 505 midi sync set to INTERNAL and I have sync on the MPC set to MIDI. Both need to be on OMNI or be on the same midi channel. Everything should sync well with those settings. Hope that helps! Cheers !

    Love the jam! I own the rc505 and was looking into getting the mpc. What advantages do you find recording the loops on the 505 over say recording them on the mpc? Just curious how they compliment each other, thanks!

    • @JoshElliottMusic
      @JoshElliottMusic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! For me the Looper in the MPC was not intuitive. The 505 is really simple and easy to set up and use. This of course if for live performance. If you just want to record audio for production the MPC is great.

    How’s your workflow nowadays? I just purchased the novation circuit and use the mpc live with keys

    • @JoshElliottMusic
      @JoshElliottMusic  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey thanks for the comment and question. This particular phase which was quite a few years ago for me was when I was dabbling in dawless. It doesn’t really represent what I actually do musically. (I’m a singer songwriter who uses live looping) but I do still break into these kind of jams sometimes. I’ve been mostly using a Loopy Pro based set up the last few years.

    • @jamesmoores1887

      Yeah I noticed It was from a few years ago. Sounds cool, i was just looking for inspiration and ideas how to use the mpc and circuit together. Thought your video was cool so dropped a comment. Thanks for the response

      @@JoshElliottMusic the electron looks cool too, I picked up the tracks pretty cheap so though I’d give it ago.. are you connecting via midi usb to your mpc? I just tried to connect mine and it’s playing as a keyboard instead of a drum machine weirdly

      @@jamesmoores1887 No USB. All sync is happening via 5 pin midi

  • @alecastershow789
    @alecastershow789 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yo man, please how do you have everything routed? I saw in another video that you have connected rc505 midi out and mpc live midi in, and for what I see you have rc 505 into a mixer channel, novation circuit into mpc and mpc into a mixer channel, Am I right?

    • @JoshElliottMusic
      @JoshElliottMusic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are 100% correct! That is exactly how I have things routed. The 505 is master and the Circuit is synced to the MPC. I have the circuit audio going through the MPC so I can use the MPC XY effects on the Circuit. The 505 and Live run Into their own separate mixer channels so I can mute each one and have dedicated monitoring in the ears.

      Thanks! Ahh the joys of looping. 2 bars or 4 bars or maybe 16. I keep em short for these videos so build ups are quick. Thanks for the tip though I’ll keep that in mind for the next one
