- The MPC One Makes Anyone a Singer!
Today I'm showing how the new standalone MPC vocal effects can help even the weakest of vocalist turn their voice into a very usable instrument! The vocal effects of the 2.10 firmware update are probably my favorite feature, and as someone who lacks any vocal confidence, I use them frequently! Enjoy the video :)
GEAR IN THIS VIDEO
Akai MPC One: amzn.to/3jKk48l
Zoom Livetrak L-12 (audio recorder): amzn.to/3jHD9rY

Not sure if anyone mentioned this previously but you should really put the inserts in this order for the best. AutoTune >Harmonizer >Doubler >Reverb.
Pinning this so all the newbies like me can easily see it haha. Thanks!
First thing I thought lol. But still a great demo
I would like to know more, where can I find out more information about how the order of effects plays a role
Thanks
@@sederquest in guitar which is the same concept, you would nearly always want reverb last, as its replicating the last stage of the chain (like you're recording in a hall, or small room etc) , autotune or octave would go first as you want anything affecting pitch to go first in chain, harmonizer needs something to harmonize which in this case is autotund voice, doubler would have to be next as you don't want it after the reverb.
That's the best I can explain lol
True but also breaking the rules can get some cool effects.
If this isn’t the new opening theme for your future videos, I will be very disappointed 😂
Honestly, that would make my day every time I hear it.
I don't think I want to put any of my viewers through that 😂
That would be funny for atleast a week 😅
@@FreeBeat You should! I can't stop it going round my head now so it must work!! 😀
I'm having visions of The Beach Boys with those sweet harmonies. You are braver than I am man, I don't think Akai can fix my vocals yet. Great stuff. I really enjoy your videos. This was fun and a very cool feature.
Haha thanks so much for watching!
Just FYI you almost always want reverb to be last in your effects chain
Yeah that was a pretty dumb mistake on my part lol.
@@FreeBeat no worries we all learn man 🤘
Great demonstration. Nice to see a normal voice demoing the voice tools. Thanks for this. Makes me want to update my MPC even more.
I highly recommend getting the update, it's free and it makes the MPC so much stronger than it already was!
So cool and easy! "Cover your ears, kids!" :D "A+ vocals." :)) I had much fun with this demonstration!
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching!
this song is gonna be stuck in my head for years i can already tell
Thank you for embarrassing yourself for us! 😂 This was super helpful! I too have vocal “issues”. You should def make this your theme song 😂
I don't know why, but those lyrics are super funny for me 😂
Great addition to the MPC. My Verselab MV-1 has similar effects and they are very powerful and have given my the confidence to sing on my tracks.
Better then verselab?😞.
@@ghanezu the Verselab MV-1 is awesome and the lack of touchscreen is a big advantage for me. Without one, you become more connected with the device.
@@ghanezu As a user of MC101 I personally think Roland's FX are better in terms of quality... but you need to know how to tweek them without a colourful screen and diagrams....They are so close to TcHelicon's vocal effects which are the best in the market.
It's crazy what a little effects can do for our vocal confidence!
How do you like the MV-1 overall? I had a 707 and I loved a lot of things about it, but ultimately ended up selling for the MPC One.
I know you weren't meaning to be funny but I was having a howl! Great post.
Glad I could bring you some entertainment lol
Just installed the update. Hype is sweet man
It really is, there's so much it can do!
This is awesome as a guy who cant really sing this is gonna be a game changer
Yeah it's pretty cool!
I'd give it an 85. It's got a good beat and I can dance to it. American Bandstand! Yay!
Haha thanks for watching!
Hope they update Akai Force also. Your voice is great, thumb up!
Haha thank you!
if I'm in song mode and have recorded audio track 1 then start with audio track 2, audio track 1 is overdubbed every time. I just don't know what to do and need urgent help.
Thank you so much for sharing this. Super helpful! This jingle will be stuck in my head ;D
Thanks for watching!
This is also available with MPC2 software. Currently playing with a MPC Studio. Hopefully I can get a MPC ONE+ this year.
This was f*cking golden, really enjoyed it. Thanks dude!
Thank you so much!
Dope video, I started producing really young on an mpc 2000 and got away from the work flow for a to long time. Just recently got back in it with the Mpc live II, and some of these features they've added are simply blowing my mind. Auto tune and a harmonizer in an mpc is nuts lol. Can't wait to play around with those effects.
It's pretty amazing how much Akai packed into it! Thanks for watching :)
@@FreeBeat btw. Which kit were you using?
Re Singing, omg same here. I hate even doing backing vocals. For my solo stuff, its almost all instrumental, maybe a vocoder or octave shifted vocal sample of myself. But, I've been playing a bit with pitch correction, which is pretty cool. Now if i could just find a "vocal power" plugin...
Fascinating! I own Akai Force We are all waiting for this update to move over to our instrument
Yeah, I'm surprised it hasn't made its way over there yet!
The song is in my head now.
My deepest apologies hahaha
very well done - nice production - organized - efficient -
Thank you so much!
Freebeat turned They Might Be Giants
Haha can't believe you hadn't seen this one yet!
"welcome to freebeat where I post musical content"
This is kinda cool i think this machine is really useful for just about any style.
Absolutely, thanks for watching!
"Welcome to free beat, I've got content" should be an intro to your videos! 💥💫💯
Hahaha I think it would get old fast!
Haha! Now that's an ear worm I can't unhear!! Nice one dude. I just bought one of there for a killer price. I'll be teaming this baby up with the Synthstrom Deluge!
great video! Cool, fun and helpful. Can you use those vocal effects for live voice? or is only for recorded voice
This reminds me of Blippi music.
Edit: I say that with love. ❤️
Hahaha thank you!
As a vocalist first, I tried out the Mpc but decided that vocal wise, the verselab Mv1 was a much better choice.
Nice! How are you liking it?
@Free Beat steeeeep learning curve BUT I have no regrets
This video just reinforced my purchasing decision. Thank you good sir!
You made a great choice, it's a beast of an instrument! Thanks for watching :)
I got content seems like a silly lyric, till somebody wants to sing into their MPC and remembers “Free Beat has content, this specific content”, then watches this video for the third time.
I've created a monster hahaha. Thanks for watching again!
Why does this remind me of Revenge of the Nerds? Cool vid & Free Beat Choir!
Hahaha I'm not sure, but that's a great movie!
5:45 is where the vocal part starts...
Appreciate it, I always like to show the building process but I understand some people don't have time for that haha.
Hey man, appreciate the vid!
Absolutely, thanks for watching!
One of your first videos I watched.
Oh wow haha, thanks for watching!
@@FreeBeat woke up with that 'welcome to free beats' tune stuck in my head. AGAIN.
This is great! Big help, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Great simple presentation. Thank you!
wELLCoME To fRee BEat
LUV IT
Well this stuck in my head now
I'm so sorry hahahaha
4:56 Sounds like a bloodhound gang song haha. 🤣💯💪🏼
Thanks for watching!
@@FreeBeat thx for your help.
Subbed and liked for your courage ! 🤣❤️❤️❤️ love it love it
Haha thank you so much!
That was entertaining. I need to go tap out a little tune now!
Thanks for watching :)
sorry what was your channels name again ? i didn't get that part. Also do you have any musical content?
Beat Free, meme content only.
And what's the name of your channel so we could check out your musical genius
@@TheBrainvision i think his channel is called free beat. He might say that in the song if you listen carefully
I'm getting They Might Be Giant vibes from this song!
I'll take it, thank you
thanks for sharing and for sharing your vocals
Thanks so much!
Free Beat & MPC One made me a SINGER!!!
Thanks for watching!
If not used audio tracks on mine yet as only had it 4 days gonna try this when i get home
Have fun!
This channel is awsome!! Free beat Could you make a video from a berhinger crave
If I ever get my hands on one I will definitely make some videos about it!
Roland V-Synth was and always will be the master vocal effects ;) This is pretty cool though!
Especially since this was added well over a year into the MPC's release!
I beg to argue tc helicon voicelive 3. or line 6 helix (even though it is a guitar processor)
@@Lodus_beatbox Not a singer, so only qualifications I can give are being able to go from my crappy voice to triggering a choir. For the age of the tech of a V-synth, it was and still is an amazing pcs of gear/tech. Helicon makes amazing stuff obviously. I'm coming at it from the synth world though. Check out this new Casio board too. th-cam.com/video/nassE9xtaXc/w-d-xo.html Pretty amazing for under $700.00> Can't wait to get one in six months on reverb for $300.00 LOL.
@@Curious_Skeptic nice. I’ll check it out
Thank you for this btw!
Thanks for watching!
Incredible! I’m sure I’ll be using these features, but I ain’t bold enough for public singing!
Guess what song I've had stuck in my head all day?
Hahaha sorry!
that damn jingle stuck in my head
Awesome 🤩
Nice!,,now you got me singing welcome to free beats were i post musical content,, now its stuck in my head...lol,,, ( Real Talk ) this is a good vid.
Hahahaha thanks!
Excellent.
Thanks for watching!
you have got good style mate.
Thank you!
Lmao. You’re still better than me. Btw, what drum kit are you using? I’d love to sample an 80s kit on to my PO33
I'm just using one of the stock kits that comes on the MPC One. Thanks for watching!
love the lyrics !!! ;)
Best thing I've ever written 😂
This was all useful info, BUT I've tried running my condenser Mic into my preamp, and the preamp into the mpc (live). When I go to mpc, go to audio, and arm it, it doesn't pic up any sound at all. And NO ONE is telling me anything or helping me with THAT part.
Great Job !!!
Thanks so much!
hi, so must you have an interface audio? or does the mic hook right up to the device?
Gerald Undone thinks this is crazy but likes it!
Dude great tut bro! Do you think
'The Akai Force' has these effects? I just ordered my Akai Force . I need first to Update it then I can check the efx.! You just inspired me my brother!
Not yet, but I'm sure it will.
Yeah I don't think it has them yet, but I'd imagine it's only a matter of time.
@@FreeBeat thanks my brother 🙏.
Awesome!... Thank You.
Can you do this with a acapella you already have? New to this after a few weeks and I am having so many headaches trying to save samples.
Hey free beat good video! Thank you for sharing your tips and tricks. I've been looking for a good 80s kit and can't find it anywhere. Could you tell me where you got yours from? Peace
I'm not sure if I mention it in the video or not, but it's just the stock 80's kit that comes on the MPC.
Can you setup all the effects, then re-record the vocal with effects playing back to your ears? Like a live effects processor?
U ever figure that out?
Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Great job I love it
It's pretty cool!
Hi there!! The voice effects only work fir pre-recorded voices or can be set to work with live singing?
It can live process them as well :)
@@FreeBeat thank you!!!
hi, Free Beat, very interesting video, I have two questions, 1. do you plug the mic in the R L input? 2. how to connect the MPC one with the Arturia Microfreak and an old audio interface (Tascam us 144), thx
The microphone goes into my audio interface, then the output of my audio interface is plugged into both the left and right of my MPC. That's also the exact same way I connect the microfreak :)
@@FreeBeat thx, helpful
Welcome to freeee beat 😂
Thanks for watching!
Do you need to buy these features and effects or it's part of device? I want op 1 but price.. And this thing looks great! Thanks
The update is completely free :)
@@FreeBeat just ordered one in retro color ^^, thanks a lot for videos!
Such an amazing tool
Useful vid thanks
Thanks for watching!
Very helpful 💯
Absolutely!
Could you use a USB microphone like the Blue Snowball?
I'm honestly not sure!
@@FreeBeat then hopefully, I gave you your next video! I asked Andy at Akai. He hasn’t responded yet.
Love Auto Tune...Does Akai Mpk mini have auto tune.. in there programs... I cant find it... an no harmony ... I have the Basic so do I have to purchase MPC beats 2 to have an advance program....????
Great demo but I actually preferred the original voice without the pitch chamge
Believe it or not that's the first time anyone has said anything positive about my singing voice in my entire life haha. Thank you!
Yeah agreed. Just keep that confidence up! Most everyone doesn’t like the sound of their voice. It’s VERY hard to mix your own voice.
@@FreeBeat Indeed, after the introduction, I was very positively surprised of your singing voice. Sure, even for vocalists, there is always room for improvement, and in general I guess many people have a mixed relationship with their voice (myself included). I just think it would be unfair and rude to rate it badly and I think it's nothing to be ashamed of or so. Of course, if we compare ourselves (are compared by others) to professional singers, 99% of the population sucks at singing...
Definitely sounded better without pitch change.
WOW! Never knew this was possible on MPC! So can you pull this up on the DAW when you get back to a computer with the vocals intact and all?
Is all these vocals editing etc on the Akai mpc keyboard
It's all done on the MPC :)
sounds cool
Thanks for watching!
And it works on the Akai Force too :)
Yes it does!
@@FreeBeat what I found out from the expert on the Akai Facebook group is that using the vocal suite on the Force often causes the Audio to cut out on The Force but worse just before it cuts out it sends a spike of electricity to the monitors that can destroy tweeters! It is being reported. Don’t know if this is the case with MPCs
You didn't show us how to actually record the harmony in portions of the vocal track. Can you help?
The harmonies are just an effect :)
@@FreeBeat Yes I know that - you misunderstood. Nevermind. ❤️
is this song on iTunes?
Haha should it be?
😅😅😅😅😅
Awesome
Thanks!
sweet lyrics!
How do I get my mic to read? I don't have the audio
So good 😁👍
Thanks!
Wow, just found out I have old man opinions on auto tune, today’s a good day
Hahaha you got a good chuckle out of me :)
Can you hear the FX when your singing live?
or only after?
You can do either!
Does this answer my question about using the MPC One as a live effects processor?
"A+ lyrics by the way. Welcome to Free Beat, I have content". lol
Thanks for this!
Also, bruh, if you didn't just create your video intro music by pure mistake in this video 😂😂😂 It was like capturing lightening on video
i have a question.
Can i conect somehow my Numark Mixtrack Pro 3 with the Akai mpc one to work and record together in one order ?
Good enough or should I get Antares Auto Tune?
That's going to be a question you can only answer for yourself I think, as they both have their own pros and cons. Thanks for watching!
@@FreeBeat i mean my TC Helicon Perform VK does a decent job turning my horrible voice into something that won’t make neighborhood cats explode upon hearing me sing but always on lookout for BETTER
Im new to drum oad machines been a dj for ling time but not familiar with these drum finger stuff 😅 so i have many many questions to ask in future .
Catchy song!!!!!!
Thanks!
