Ghost types are already OP and don't need this. I'd have made an "Acid Rain" weather condition for Poison types instead. That's a type that actually needs it.
Seems like it’s really good weather for anti-sweeping. A Pokémon like Mega Banette, for instance, can switch in, activate scare, mega evolve, activate intimidate, will-o-wisp (reducing attack by 50%), then parting shot for another -1 attack/special attack. This is significantly more reliable to pull off with Fog. It will absolutely cripple any physical attacker in 2 turns, and it directly leads to a switch-in to a different mon that gets a free turn of set up. At any point of this sequence, if the AI switches out, they’re going to lose a turn of tempo. They’re going to eat a scare, an intimidate, a burn, or a parting shot. Whatever they switch in to won’t be able to set up because of fog. While mega banette doesn’t have a really obvious synergy with fog in the form of an ability which benefits from fog directly, the nature of fog itself makes its job that much easier to perform. It makes it that much easier to switch in. It makes it that much harder for the opponent to set up. And if you are able to switch in, the sequence of switch in->mega evolve-> +1 priority will-o-wisp->+1 priority parting shot basically guarantees that whatever you’re switching in on is going to be crippled and is going to be dealing 20% less damage because of the fog itself. Basically any ghost-type mon that is even remotely able to sweep is going to benefit from this setup so much.
Watching broken mons that needed all their abilities being mentioned to get weather buffs that were undoubtedly nerfs be framed as benefits was hilarious
General overview of fog: this weather’s going to get axed as a whole. There’s already dragapult and mega gengar, which are absurd mons since the former can run either parental bond physical sets or clear body special sets (cancels out Draco and raging souls’s downsides) and thus be impossible to fully account for, while the latter has it’s stall breaking capability expanded upon further between the specs boost complimenting it’s vast move pool. I did not know that fog gave the mons with the best offensive stab typing in the game an overall damage reduction, making these volatile threats overbearing. Moving to more specific parts: Low visibility/flare boost: Drifblim sounds appealing as a fog setter…. Until you look at the fine print: It’s a setter that can’t really go without boots on the count of it being weak to rocks and having no reliable recovery, and it isn’t really all that threatening, since all it has to support it’s power is just flare boost, and ominous wind, not to mention it’s not all that fast. It’s more worth it to use other fog setters like jellicent that have more longevity, or phantowl if you want a fog setter that does damage. Unfortunately, similar applies to the other flare boosters: you either would rather use their evolved forms (redux doom and gourgeist), or they have much better things to do (weezing would MUCH prefer neutralizing gas). Giratina: Is fog a massive buff for it: yes Is it getting banned from Ubers in 2.5: yes Is it getting banned because of its fog potential: No. A. Pdon and other sources of weather changes like origin palkia and Koraidon make that strat unreliable. B. It’s more so interesed to come in on a Mon it shuts down, get to +6 with mystic dance between fearmonger, shadow shield and its huge bulk, and promptly spam hyperspace hole +dragon stab and sweep the entire team. The only thing that actually stops this thing’s rampage is kyurem black. So the moment kyurem black gets canned (and it will, since legit it’s only check is zamazenta crowned), it’s not following too far behind. Mimkyu: Likely the best of the ethereal rushers. Essentially gets a free turn to do whatever it wants every time it comes in on fog, including a free sd, and if it wants to it gets violent rush upon breaking the disguise, potentially resulting in instant death if the thing got +2 (which it definitely will). And it can do this multiple times…. Ectoplasm: I already explained mgar and dragapult being cancer, but quick mention towards gastly. Tbh this thing never needed the fog to be banned from lc: aura sphere and the reworked poison gas already has it taking its leave. Of course it DEFINITELY doesn’t help it’s case that it can perform gastbra tricks to dealing with it’s few counters while not only not needing to sacrifice anything to do so, but it gets STRONGER as it does via vengeance. Polteageist becomes an utter nucisnce not only with the ectoplasm making the omega boosted stored powers and shadow balls hit like nukes, but also the defense boost alongside liquified and water absorb essentially means you aren’t going to prevent this thing from getting a shell smash off. Surprise: Mismagius is likely the most obvious candidate for this ability, which alongside ectoplasm makes scarf sets threatening, however mimikyu’s just better over all as a ghost/fairy fog abuser. Gren seems interesting, but the cost of it is that you essentially have no ability before evolving (Smokey maneuvers is getting the same treatment as sand veil/snow cloak in getting banned, that reason also being why I won’t cover it). Houndoom’s likely the actual main abuse of the ability in fog, tho like gren it also has a bit of a hiccup with pre mega: flare boost is the ability that leads to surprise, so the thing has to evolve outside of fog, less the mega has to suffer a burn that the base form gets for the rest of the match, that or pair with redux hydra for more freedom in switching in (which it is viable, since exchange for that and dealing with dark types, hydra gets a drawbackless fleur cannon and draco meteor). Greater spirit: some how this gets lower distribution than ectoplasm, and the abusers are always outclassed by it’s mega forms, already Ubers and in that format fog just doesn’t work (especially when gira leaves), and never going to use since it always want skill link. Shallow grave: Much more deserving of its limited distribution. And thankfully, gengar would much rather go mega which doesn’t have this ability, while Hisui Zoro would much prefer ambush. Anihilape however…. sure rage fist got nerfed hard, so it’s not as absurd as it could be. But essentially it guarentees that this gets to max power. On a Mon that gets guts+ and hyper aggressive +power up punch. Rest in peace: Cursola isn’t really the Mon to abuse this due to it’s terrible physical defense holding it back, and while coffin actually seems like the best of both worlds in aegislash’s defensive stats and shadow shield with gholdengo’s recover and utility move pool, unfortunately it suffers from the same conceptual problems as Mon’s with ice body and co do: you don’t really want your defensive mons stacking weaknesses in weather teams.
Great video! Fog has been a lot of fun to use so far. And I didn't even know that it restores Mimikyu's Disguise. Also I don't know if I would call Fog teams the best weather team yet. All of them are really good (although I have only dabbled in sand teams as of yet). Some of my favourite Fog mons so far are Dusknoir for setup, A Marowak and Mega Gyaradeath X for their Greater Spirit and Mega Gengar for its Ectoplasm.
Somewhere along the line I realised fog was a thing and wanted to make the best Fog team for Redux Houndoom. And ended up finding out Dusknoir was a beast. Slap Weakness policy + Drain punch on the bulky dude and he doesn't die. Add on he has priority with his ability - when anything is half HP or below he goes first - and soul eater (I think thats its name). Hes my boy. He went from a tank to a sweeper. As for balance for the game... I don't really care. I'm no meta game expert. Like, we all know Ghosts are the best types atm irl. But why should that matter in a rom hack where everything is broken? My joy from this game comes from being able to optimize rando mons I always liked - like Marcatus - and make them do work. Its not like the enemy ever holds back. And in general I like the concept of themed teams Did Ghost need more? Not really. But at the same time, its clearly doing something as much compared to the other Weather conditions. As for what I think overall? Let mega houndoom hit normal types with Ghost type moves please. Why should he suffer? Its not fair. Bust serious I'm thankful when mons Ive always like such as the chandelier are able to show up.
Finally i understand how the ability "Suprise" works... didn't fully understand the text.. Used fog during my mono ghost Challenge at the beginning of the playtrough.. Only i did best was using Mega shedinja to boost attack and speed to use baton pass to ceruledge then boost even more attack with weakness policy + dual wield and moxie abilities..
I wish that Mismagnus it still had Pixilate (turns normal type attacks into fairy type) because it was very good Hyper Voice Stab and bad dreams (while Sleeping pokemons, they take damage)
I am currently doing a mono-Ghost run in Ace difficulty and I am pleasantly surprised at how strong Drifblim is. It also has the Low Visibility ability which sets up Fog, and also Flare Boost. So basically, it has Huge Power for Sp. Atk right away without needing Flame Orb. I run a few sets on it, but my favorite is a bulky set with Bold Nature, max HP EVs, lots into SpDef and a few more in Def. Strength Sap, Infernal Parade, Substiture, and Air Slash. The item is either Leftovers or Rocky Helmet. It is surprisingly really tanky and hits quite hard.
I wouldn't call Flare Boost atk boost the same as Huge Power, but much rather a free restriction-less Choice Specs. It Makes Driff so much easier to train in other areas thanks to that, and fog helps a lot with it's normally underperforming bulk (that massive hp has something to work with now)
I did a Mono Ghost Doubles LC run of 2.5, and it was by far the easiest run of the game I did. Fog had a lot to do with that; sans the Duskull was almost always on my team, as it can set both Trick Room and Fog, setting up for slow mons like Honedge and Redux Whismur while being able to run interference with moves like Miracle Eye. Speaking of Redux Whismur, the line also gets Rest in Peace as half of its White Noise ability. Miku was a surprisingly good tank, especially with Ominous Wind being able to raise defenses.
In singles, fog doesnt have a broken button like priority eruption but the ai is not ready for fog lol. They keep trying to set up in it. In doubles mode tho fog is the goat. Gyradeath x with goosechase and slyduck for priority parting spam is broken
Sttill thonk theyre should be a magnetic field for steel types that auto applies that one move that makes steel types float and gives them a 20-50 percent defense and special defense buff since through magnesis and electricity reacting to metal zapping dirt and specs off of steel types making them more sturdy

"Whaiting for the shoudown update" gang here ( i hade being sick)
You also need to go to a grammar doctor
Autocorrect is begging bro to listen 😭
You sure you didn't have a stroke there, bro?
im here to deliver the news that it's not gonna be any time soon
They can talk trash on your typing, but I think it sounded like you had a stuffed nose through your typing. Great effect.

Another cool thing you can do in fog is running Gengar with the mega stone but only mega evolve after being ko'd because base form gets shallow grave
Fog is definitely a good weather but it falls behind compared to sun or rain but they have time to improve it so can't say much rn we'll see later ig
I've done a ghost monotype and dusknoir has such a huuuuge upgrade in this game its insane
Oooo looks fun to play with, might have to make one for my first playthrough!

I wish that Mismagnus it still had Pixilate (turns normal type attacks into fairy type) because it was very good Hyper Voice Stab and bad dreams (while Sleeping pokemons, they take damage)
peak cinema as always ❤

I thought it said frog team in the title 😂
Same!
i mean you can use greninja on fog teams effectively
Seismitoad, gren, politoed, poliwrath, and bellibolt 😂
eerie spell also doesn't miss in the fog
Good info I missed
0:40 what is that? Is that a lore accurate Lumineon evolution?
Looks like Abomasnow, I think? But Lumineon did get an evolution iirc
Yes. Lumineon did get a evolution.
Yes, that's Luminositeon, its new evolution.
It's the new evolution to lumineon..... Forgot the name, it's water/fairy type and is somewhat good
Lumineon definitely needs an evolution. It is easily Sinnoh's most forgotten Pokémon.

Im down for more field effects
Magnet rise:
Kinda surprised I didn't see Drifblim here. I thought it was a really good fog setter.
It is mentioned at 6:00
Cool video
Now we have OP weather instead of OP mons. Great!
Kinda wish you could chain weather effects together and get different effects
sandy fog
Weird question, who do you fight to test out these teams? The gym leaders and e4 are quite hard to beat when testing out weaker mons
I leave trainers unbattled
@MegaFidough they should really add a vs seeker😔
Fog should make shadow force and phantom force hit in a single turn instead of two.
giratina could use that buff
Ok but can we get a video for the new stuff for Sun and Rain teams?
Does Mimikyu have any u turn type attacks? Parting Shot while being able to switch in with dusguise back up in fog sounds disgustingly good.
nope
@MegaFidough dang. That would be a cool way of giving it another role in teams.
Yup. It's not balanced.
im new here, which fan game this came from?
Elite Redux! newest 2.5 version
W vid
That surprise 😂
