I always loved Oricorio, even in earlier versions before the Mega. The Quiver Dance + Two step combo was already so good in so many matches. The Mega seems really good, but to be honest I think I still rather use my mega elsewhere.
You get how this works: Conceptually, Golisopod seems extremely scary with the +1 Omni at half health, even semi compensating for the rocks weakness making sturdy unreliable since it can knock itself down to half health faster. Just one issue: Golisopod even with the +1 Omni… is still extremely slow for a sweeper of its caliber. 60 at +1 isn’t really winning any awards. Also not to mention while it is sturdy against the physical based prio, special prio shreds it to pieces all the same. Oricorio: the bird is indeed a problem. And the punchline is that it’s not the fact that quiver dance also does damage. It’s the multitude of rng factors associated with the thing. Mainly, color spectrum and how when dealing with it you’re essentially at the ability’s complete mercy whether it’s possible to deal with it or not. For instance, the thing comes in and starts quivering dancing. Don’t worry, you have a mega dragonite in the back ready to hit it with a galvanize espee-and now it’s a ground type
my main problem with golisopod is that it feels like it lost it's identity, and now it's just a moderatly bulky attacker with no reliable recovery mega golisopod is more of the same, moderately bulky but without any recovery to trade hits and not enough damage boosting abilities to sweep of a +1 with priority moves oriocio and mega oricorio i like but it should have mystic dance at 24 as by the time it get's quiver dance the point in the game where it should me most useful is over
100% agree. Golispod had a unique identity, which is now completely gone. I get it, it was a stupidly broken defensive pivot, but I wish they nerfed it without removing its identity
Another dancer that is good is Hisui Lilligant as with its innates it makes all moves trigger 50bp leaf blade due to the combo of Blade Dance and Taekkeyon which the first makes all dance moves trigger the leaf blade while the second makes all moves count as dance moves
I seriously do not get the point of nerfing stuff in a hack/mod. It’s not online, zero multiplayer. This rom hack already gives so many options and makes every pokemon op and viable in their own right, incentivizing multiple teams. In a game where you’re supposed to make the most busted teams possible, why nerf stuff?
This is supposed to be a difficulty rom hack, y'know? Theres still some balance in mind, so you dont sweep the entire game with one single team, it makes it so that you consider using more options to use, which is kind of the point of balancing.
Just a heads up to anyone who just started Elite Redux; You don't have access to all a pokemon's moves at the start. You need to level up to get them. Learned that the hard way
Losing Coward definitely hurt Golisopod, it's an insanely good ability. I'm doing a Monobug LC run and *Wimpod* is great with it, though part of that is it enabling Surskit to hard carry with Water Bubble. Still, a free No Retreat is a lot of damage; Golisopod could definitely go nuts with Screen, Tailwind or Friend Guard support. Mega Oricorio is absurd. I can maybe see Dancer being useful in Doubles if you have some *really good* Dancers also using it, but Oricorio really is better off leading the dance itself with Two Step. Protect is both a fantastic tool for it to reroll Color Spectrum and a vital counter for its opponent to reroll its Color Spectrum. Pressure is good to have in your back pocket if it starts getting out of hand (or you could be sneaky and run Mew, Smeargle or Spinarak with Prankster Topsy-Turvy).
If Two Step could be used with Dancer, this game would be so cooked in double battles Or then... Prankster Brionne with Spotlight + Oricorio with Two Step. Brionne will Spotlight an enemy, Oricorio will skill swap two step into Brionne (Spotlight says only attacks would target that enemy, if it's really that, then status moves bypass it). Now Brionne has Dancer + Two Step, while Oricorio gets prankster. Now the goal is to somehow switch in a Transform pokemon and target Brionne. Then dance once. Now softlock.
Mega Oricorio is so much fun to use. It can get close to being broken, but its frailness can be a problem and it has a problem with enemy priority moves.
What do you think about nerfs in general? I find a lot of things that should make sense thematically, are thrown away for I guess balance. Why doesn't Bariong learn any kinda set up move? Why can't Redux Beedrill learn Swords dance anymore. No more Redux Slugma stall, etc. On the subject of request of Bariong. Would like a show case of him, the Polartic forms, and Tsareena. Bariong grow on me. Hated him initially. Throw on a vest, and the boy just doesn't die. Eats up close combats for fun. As for Tsareena, I would like to use it more, but I think momentum is broken (as in not functioning). Her damage feels terrible. Special mention Redux Mega Hydregion and the Snowrunt forms.
My unpopular opinion is Rillaboom, tbh, is better if you not play it in perma mega It lost Grassy Terrain when mega evolved and gets seed sower instead

How would you know if you have a M dragon if let say you wanted to make a different team that doesn’t have its is a basic requirement to have one???

Yea the days of GolisoGOAT are gone but I still think mega oricorio is cracked. the type changing is annoying tho

why not recovery? go shell bell with agility, set up rain first and GG..
Solution: Leech life

nice to see my mega oricorio getting featured in a vid
There's a Pastel bird in the video lol

Would you use a Mon that instantly ohkoed every opponent?
The point isn’t making the most busted things possible. It’s just a higher power level.
The point isn't to just be broken. It's to test your skills as a player
If I could just click one move and win, that wouldn't be very fun would it?
if pokemon is too easy you can always add restrictions to yourself. No need to apply them to all Pokémon

In a game with primal cascoon, balance is supposed to be in mind? All of a sudden it's a difficulty hack? Lol ok.

Mega Oricorio is busted. Using quiver dance for the stat boost + an attack after that, such a beast
So quickly can it just become unstoppable lmao
@MegaFidough facts bro
Look how they massacred my goat please just add coward to the base version please it would elevate to the same heights as before

Can’t wait to fully experience this game, just gotta beat may (I’m incredibly new to difficulty romhacks)
But this is an emerald hack, are you thinking of radical red?
@ holy crap I meant may 🤣

Do you have the link for the Elite Redux showdown server and the dex? It would be easier for me to try out new mons.

alright, awesome insights maybe my next in game play can feature them
looking forward to it!
Is 2.5 still on track to release by end of year or has that gotten pushed back now?
I've heard nothing tbh
Guys I haven't played this game yet and was wondering if yanmega got any buffs/forms
no forms but its still better
Sad that golisopod got a mega but its counterpart, araquinid, got nothing
Araquanid is a counterpart to Masquerain, Gen 7 even gave Masquerain a stat buff to match Araquanid
