      I would go with something like puritabs over a sawyer mini. If frozen the fibres inside can break and although the filter can look fine it will no longer remove contaminants effectively.

      bradleyj94 He's in Texas, I'm in Louisiana.....winters are mild, not many nights below freezing, put Sawyer in sleeping bag.....

    Personally I have a couple caches one for hygiene and cooking accessories, second for water purifying and water itself, third is for base camp such as fire starters, tarps, extra tent, etc, 4th is for ammo, 5th is for protein bars and canned food, 6th is extra clothing especially socks and 3 good beanies, I plan on having 4 more caches

    • @bigboomdude9299
      @bigboomdude9299 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Reviewing my comment I forgot to add every cache has trauma supplies beside it and a spare 223 Mag with ammo, I plan on having 2 caches with medical equipment, such as medicine.

    I am typing as I watch....your food choices look great...high protein easy digestion you second container had several awesome items such as the hygiene I think are great many would forget I am impressed as to the array of items between the two containers. I must say tho...those containers would not survive buried here......the ground and frost and freeze would crush and deep water but for your area I am sure they would do fine...i appreciate you taking the time to show us all caches are something I have thought about bit currently have not really done awesome vid bud

    Hello sir, i have two questions about diggin in caches:
    1: Are they considered littering according to the law?
    2: Have you ever hit another persons cache while diggin in you own?
    PS.
    Yesterday i joined you on Patreon, i thought that you are worth supporting anyway i can.

    • @SurvivalTheory
      @SurvivalTheory  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I imagine it would be littering by definition. I've never hit another cache, or seen signs of one. Thanks for the view and comment! Thank you for the support!

    I’ve found that whenever I’ve tried burying containers like that that they somehow get moisture in them from the ground around them. I dont know how but suspect it’s humidity.

    • @SurvivalTheory
      @SurvivalTheory  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Possible leak around lid. Possible condensation if too much temp fluctuation. I've been lucky so far with these containers, even after two 500 year floods and varying seasons. Thank you for the view and comment!

    • @tomcatt1824

      I hvnt tryed it but i hv heard that plain old white rice acts as a moisture absorber 4 this,, put it in loose, then when U dig it up i guess U could cook it,, like i said i hvnt tryed it ..🚲..

    • @SurvivalTheory
      @SurvivalTheory  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rice works well for that.

      @@SurvivalTheory brainstorming here, i wonder if you could dump the contents of a DampRid container in the bottom before (or after, guess it doesn't matter) putting your stuff in.

    • @SurvivalTheory
      @SurvivalTheory  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@herculesbrofister265 That would work, but doesn't that come in a fairly large container?

    • @SurvivalTheory
      @SurvivalTheory  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would think long term environmental exposure would decide what can work. Sounds like it would work in most areas, if kept from sudden temp changes, being crushed, or being flooded. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    If you had to get to this in the middle of winter how would you? Make a fire over it until it unthaws? That's my concern about this.. I'm from New England..

    • @SurvivalTheory
      @SurvivalTheory  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Same principles would apply, imo. Keep contents dry (waterproof container), deep enough so temp fluctuation is minimal. Of course, keeping container out of run-off areas would be ideal, for long term durability of water seal, less temp fluctuation, mud slides, root growth, etc... Thanks for watching and commenting!
