Fantastic vest brother! I think I have seen daypacks that honestly have less gear than that vest! I need to add coffee filters to my kit. That's cool how you added pouches to the shell webbing but wrapping that paracord through them is killer!

wouldn't it need a load bearing element? maybe a load bearing vest would be even better? one with molle so you can add or remove pouches as needed

Great video one thing I noticed was beside the waist belt was cargo style pants with large pockets you could pack with extra light weight items or whatever you see fit. Again another great video.

Another excellent video. I especially liked the hunters belt. I never thought of that one and it would be a perfect addition. I saw RBM1s video on the vest awhile back. He and you are two of my favorites on the subject of outdoors. Both of you walk the walk and not just talk like most of the others. I have learned so much from the two of you. Another thing you have in common with him is answering questions from your viewers. Sometimes there may be a time constraint but the effort is made. Others are just interested in reviewing products they are being paid to sell with no interest in inter acting with their viewers.

That reminds me...I have two reviews to do when I can take time away from the outdoors... Thanks for the good words!

Love this concept! Now you’ve got my gears turning!
I would personally want to separate what I carry into their respective categories and organize each pouch and pocket to have like items together. Seems the mixed contents in each pocket would make for a lot of wasted time trying to remember where I put this or that. To each his own though!
    Thanks for sharing!!!

I recently got a Revamp Gear Front Pack that would make a really great daypack. Also, you can attach it to any backpack so you can put the two together and have everything you may need no matter how long you will be in the woods.

Or you can just get a lightweight day pack . . . .
The vest is a good idea but it's locking you into a mode of thinking.
I would recommend using the vest as a basic model and making your own. Hand-sewn drop cloth works fine for the first few attempts.
The biggest thing that I see here is that you don't take advantage of a lot of space on your back. That's because you're trying to adopt a game carrier to something else. You could easily sew your own with a bag on the back that would eliminate the need for a belt.
But thank you for the time and effort you put into the video and thank you for the good ideas you shared!

There are fishing, adventure and photography vests available with pockets/pocket of varying sizes on the back of the vest. I was recently going thru my survival/preparedness gear and found a vest I purchased a few years ago from Cabela’s. The vest is an Adventure vest that has 16 pockets, including a large pocket/pouch on the back of the vest. The vest was never used and brand new. Your video and several others inspired me to transition my survival gear from a backpack to the adventure vest. This is a work in progress and I’m really having fun with this project! Thanks for the video and inspiration to do this. I’m also planning to do the same with a vest for my get home gear. As an Air Force veteran, pilots and air crew members wore survival vests on all missions. I think that’s why I like the vest idea and encourage others to at least consider a vest system. Again Thank you for your inspirational video. Well done!

Hi. I much prefer my Webbing. Light, cooler and swap in and out various pouches depending on my needs. Easier for me to pack and get at equipment quickly and will work with packs and straps as required. For me the vest is a backwards step for utility and weight carry. Good video though.

the tactical vest does wok you need to get the flc because it's split front vest styled. the other style is rhodesian and is less breathable

Solid setup. I love this concept Dan. I have a Fishing PFD vest that is setup similar with more ultralight gear, but with same categories of gear, works great, especially if you like to fish and travel by foot/hiking or boat to your destination :> I know they have a lot of other vests that are tackle type vests without the pfd and should work just as well.
One future video request; Any chance for tinkering with a "Cache Belt" idea for survival like the Wazoo or the Alpenlore? Tx and keep up the great work sir.

As someone who's really limited to what he can carry in a survival vest due to a broken neck and back problems, since I've tried carrying things in my 1990 Woolrich vest, I found the scale of this vest more reasonable than Dave Pearson's fully loaded vest. Like Dave's, it's also nice in that it focuses on cheap readily obtainable materials like the Felco folding saw which is much more reasonably priced than a Silky. I still have one that I bought in 1989. After all, when you're getting ready for the Day After do you really need a $68+ flashlight that uses three types of batteries? I would rate this as one of the better survival vest videos along with Back Country Pilot's and of course Reallybigmonky1's.

I think there are pro's & con's to day pack or vest / fisherman's waistcoat , up to 2 or 3 KG vest anything more day bag . Or vest + fold daysack ? I see vest might be prob if you need to cool off (you got to keep wearing it ) . we'll see how you get on .

Im in Australia. This water filter, water purification and coffee filters. I just dont get it. If its brackish boil it, if you are near a town boil it, if in doubt boil it, if its coming out of rocks is safe drink it. If you need to filter it hankerchief over neck of bottle. Bic lighter a few dollars 3000 lights in it =3000 clean water refills

Brackish water means there is salt in it. You can't live drinking salt water. Nothing removes the salt from the water except distillation.
