  • Fanny Adams (30 April 1859 - 24 August 1867) was an eight-year-old English girl who was murdered by solicitor's clerk Frederick Baker in Alton, Hampshire, on 24 August 1867. The murder itself was extraordinarily brutal and caused a national outcry in the United Kingdom. Fanny was abducted by Baker and taken into a hop garden near her home, where she was brutally murdered and dismembered; some parts were never found. Further investigations suggested that two small knives were used for the murder, but it was later ruled they would have been insufficient to carry out the crime and that another weapon must have been used.

There's a story up here in Sunderland about the Victoria Hall disaster where 183 children lost there lives and because of that awful event this is why we now have those push bars on emergency doors. I've been to the memorial a few times and have found a grave of one of the poor children in the cemetery next to me. Its an awful story but worth reading about as I think these poor kids should never be forgotten.

  • @krisushi1

That was certainly a very powerful start to your Crime Files. I'm not at all an emotional person but I have tears in my eyes as I type. I've never heard of this story before and it tears at the heartstrings. I can't imagine what would make a human being turn into a monster to carry out something so unspeakable. It does sound like, from the way the journal entry was written, that this wasn't his first murder. I have great faith that dear Fanny is in a much better place where she can always be safe. Although I haven't heard of the original saying that includes her name, it does give new meaning to a term we're all familiar with - sweet f*** all. I'll be making a conscious effort now to never repeat that term. You're off to a great start! Kris.🇦🇺🕊
