Oldsmobile 350 Rocket Powered S10 Update

Hello TH-cam Nation! Ron here from RTR Gearheads. Jr wanted to take some time to update you all on his Olds S10. As I mention in the intro, video may not seem exactly fluid do to some technical issues transferring and uploading the content.

Nice work man! I have a sbc swapped S10 and the engine bay seems way more crowded on mine.

My son has said several times that if something goes wrong with the Olds engine it will be getting a sbc or LS. Truck originally got the Olds because it was local and available. My 94 S10 has a TBI 350 swap and it fit so much better than my son’s truck

Super Turbine 300! Does it have the Switch-Pitch converter? If not it takes a regular TH350 converter!

We bought the motor and trans spit of the moment by getting what was local and available. Been so many years, I’m not even sure which converter is in it anymore. We have a BPO pattern TH350 and TH400. Whichever of those for length-wise, we’ll probably swap it out

@@rodneybyrd9516 that’s what we’re hoping. That transmission is the one we took out of my Trans Am when we did the LS swap. We’re waiting for it to get a little warmer outside before we start messing with it, unless I can convince Jr to do it sooner. Our garage doesn’t have HVAC, so we have to use torpedo heater in the winter

How did you get the headers to fit . I had to use shorty headers when I built my S-10

We actually spent countless hours making exhaust manifolds

Did the 350 rocket drop right in? Or did you have to make motor mounts?

No, it didn't drop right in. The truck was a complete frame off. We made custom mounts, notched the frame, oil filter relocation kit and built custom exhaust manifolds. The SBC or LS would be the easiest. Jr and I already discussed that if something goes wrong with the rocket, we will be more than likely going LS.
