- Here's some footage of the Harley powered VW Beetle driving on the road.

Do you have any details of the adapter kit used? Wanting to do the same thing but having a hard time finding anything especially in Aus!
Paul, currently there is nothing available to do the conversion. There is no actual kit.
If you do a search there is more information out there.
One day when we get time , we will try and do a descriptive video.
There actually is an adapter kit that is produced in the U.S.
I had saved the link years ago. You might try Googling it.

The VW gearbox is fully functional , including reverse !!
The motor is attached to the VW Gearbox, so you could even go with a 5 gears Porsche Gearbox plus reverse

That is bad ass!!!! My 98 Evo motor is 69 hp bone stock, the 88 with a cam pushes over 80 hp. Love the sound!!!! Someone could make some $$$ mass producing an adaptor kit....My wife even said it looks like it has some pep!!!!
My 92 low rider, after massaging by Pete Hill in SC, cam, a little head porting, S&S Super-E carb and RBRacing 2-1 exhaust had 105rwhp. Would have been a monster in a bug.

What did you do for electrical? Was the stator enough to power the lights and a radio? Did you use a motorcycle battery or a car battery?

What do I need to do to bolt a Harley motor to the vw trans? And I'm guessing you fab your own motor mounts?
My question how keep the motor cool? Vw motors have a cooling fan and shroud with a fan to feed them air. Not enough air flow to keep harley motor cool

This has been the thing that has been keeping me up at night (like right now....2:52am AEST). I have access to 5 beetle engines in varying capacity's and ports and 3 different body types (curved window, flat window bug's and also an original Manx) but cannot find any info any place in video form on how to go about a dream task such as this. ANY in depth info on this beauty would be a good send as I'm also interested in using a single carb beetle engines in a bike (kind of bastardising one for the other and so forth). Have gathered by the AU Ute in the vid you're either in OZ or NZ and am wondering on legalities for road use of this?

I have a Vulcan 2053cc engine i would love to swap into a beetle
If you don't mind sharing, how much would this conversions cost if i was able to find a bettle with a blown engine (or no engine) and just had to do the conversion?
There is nothing commercially available to do this, so it would get very expensive to get the conversion built properly as a custom built "one-off " . Very hard to guess a price due to different labor costs, and how much work you can do yourself.
There is a lot more than just a simple adapter plate, as the Harley engine is not designed to run a clutch from the end of its Crankshaft. It also needs an outrigger bearing to help stabilize the Crank.
Overheating problems?
Are you still running the vw factory size battery? Just wondering it charges and if radio and lights are functional
Any Battery that fits !, set up to use Harley charging and starting system , and yes all VW electrics will work, but need to convert to 12 volts.
What adapter kit did you use for the flywheel and transmission mounting?
Nobody makes them anymore! Wish they did.

Is there going to be some kind of shroud and fan for cooling? Doesn't look like there will be a lot of air circulation around the engine
cooling fan fitted on top of motor, seems to work ok
How big is the engine and how much hp? There's lot of torque from the engine, so the take off with thias car won't be a problem.
This is slightly modified 88" ( 1450cc ) probably around 70-80 hp , can easily bore/stroke to 124" ( 2032cc ) .
So a fair bit better than a stock VW of the era .
