Note, this is what underrated looks like.
He's not underated maybe back when he's playing but he's a HOF now
Joe dumars was one player on the pistons i had respect for. And I'm a bulls fan.👍
I agree with you 💯
He was the MAIN Badboy I HATED!!!!!
Ditto joe was underrated as eff
Same for me. The only guy I really hated in that Pistons team was Laimbeer, whom I consider the dirtiest ever, well, at least from the 80's onward. Dumars was a smart dude, it's not that easy to earn MJ's respect.
Same.
Joe D was a class act all the way around
I grew up in the Detroit area during the bad boy era. And Joe Dumars was all this and more. A pros pro. Great shooter, defender, competitor, and sportsman.
Bulls vs Pistons was legendary! ❤❤ So many great players
Joe was incredible. Him and Thomas were one of the best back courts ever.
Sean David is the man. Basketball 🏀 Time Machine is what's happening "but enough of that blah blah lets get right into it"
Great clips on good ole Joe|
I really love your channel, I love old school basketball 💯💯💯💯💯
Real gentleman. He and Mitch Richmond were so underrated.
Richmont can't win though.
My favorite player back in the day
Sean always educates me with his knowledge of the game. Never knew Allen Houston played for the Pistons, i always thought he was a Knickerbocker and ESPN 2k5 for PlayStation 2 is my favorite video game (i still play it today) i thought i knew old school basketball but all hail the teacher Sean David
You nailed it my brother! Joe D is my FAVORITE PLAYER OF ALL TIMES!! A classy gentleman!!❤
Mine too back in the day.
No way Detroit wins 2 (got robbed of 3 in 88) championships without Joe D. Thank you Sean D. for shining the light on one of the greatest.
Thank you so much. What a great show, as is your standard. thanks again.
Joe was amazing. He was always checking guys two and three or more inches taller, but always played every top guard as well as anyone in the league could do.
And he could score, of course, at all three levels. He was truly the "perfect guard."
🗣️N🚫T QUITE THE PERFECT GUARD . THATS DEFINITELY , A STRETCH . JOE DUMARS IS A STAR ⭐. N🚫T , A SUPERSTAR 🌟 .>🎤 🏀🗑️
Joe is my favorite player, such an amazing defender. I don't know any stats showing this but he forced at least 2 offensive fouls on him every game! Perfect base and he would stop at the perfect moment and take the charge. He could have better numbers if he wanted but he chose not to, to give the whole team the best results. Great 3 pt shot when the team needed the most, amazing long range 2 pt coming off the screen. Humble! The opposite of the arrogant Lakers showtime!
Salute joe duhmars🫡🪖👍🏼💯
Thank you.,, This was a good one.
Joe Duuuuuuuuuuuuuumaaaaarrsss
This channel really goes through time and honestly.....straight facts
De mis preferidos de siempre.humilde, trabajador y fino anotador .recuerdo el día de los 10 triples ,cuando no se tiraban ni la mitad...y el mvp de las finales.grande JOE❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Joe is still my favorite Piston.
He was fantastic the original Mr Fundamentals as he had all the moves!
Definitely underrated!
One of the best
JOE D!...He and Mitch Richmond...Underrated at the position...
My 3rd favorite player all- time. Dr. J , Timmy and Joe. 😊
I think Joe Dumars was the only big name from their starting 5 who stayed on the court to shake hands with the Bulls in '91 when the Bulls swept them while Isiah, Bill and the others walked out before the game was even done.
I agree. Great video
OG BAD BOYS!
Anyone who can give 23 fits and then get props from him is a great player. Championships are built on D. Thanks for a great episode on Joe.
Pleased to see a video dedicated to Joe Dumars. 👍
Joe D was a warrior for that team!
Dumars was about the only one of the Pistons I liked, maybe Vinnie Johnson too
I forgot about Vinnie you know I forgot about him you're right is he working for general motors?
Well i were piston fan back then ,one I remembered was the announcer call his name. when scored a basket. Joe duuuurmas😀😀😀😀
Growing up in Detroit in the 80s and 90s, we all loved Zeke, but please know Joe D was the MAN!!! He was not only one of the best defenders, Joe would give you 25 with ease! He could handle, could penetrate, and he could SHOOT!!! We were suprised when he missed type of good. And he only played better the bigger the moment! We need more Joe D's!
Seriously not selecting Joe Dumars in the nba top 75 but selecting someone like Harden is so unfair. Don’t know what these guys are thinking about!
MJ has deep respect for him…he always mentioned him as the best in defending him. He was also one of the toughest yet still a gentleman.
Never met him but I've been inside his office. It's a nice office. There is a poster, I think from SI about all the points he has despite being known for his defense. Great player and a slick balhandler. HOF player, IMO.
I think Joe D's true ceiling is evident in what he has done since he left the court. The man has been successful at every stage of his professional career.
Overall, no player was able to stop Michael Jordan on a consistent basis. I have often wondered though, why did smaller players give Michael Jordan more of a challenge? I had noticed during the 1980's and 90's players like Sidney Moncrief, Joe Dumars, Gary Payton, John Starks, Vernon Maxwell, Mitch Richmond and Mookie Blaylock would at times make Jordan a bit uncomfortable and make him work harder when he was on offense. Players like GP and Vernon would defend MJ with their amazing athletic abilities straight up. And Dumars, Starks and Blaylock sometimes would find a way to get directly underneath MJ and actually block some of his jumpers.
At the same time, I noticed at times MJ was able to post up taller players with ease like Grant Hill, Clyde Drexler and other players with similar builds with little difficulty. It was definitely strange how that appeared as it seems obvious on trying to put a taller athletic defender on MJ. The 90's had good defensive players.
Can anybody imagine how scary a Pistons fantasy team would be going up against all of the others?! Would they win?! You'd have Prince, Rodman, Dumars, Sheed, Big Ben, Thomas(cold as ice with a game to match), Billups,
NBA 2k 25 up This Mans Defensive Rating ASAP!!!!
I also like Joe the basketball player❤
Joe was just classy. While everyone was marveling at his defence at the end of the game he might well have 30 quiet points. Easy. Mike had two inches of height on Joe but Joe was immensely strong with powerfull legs. Watching Joe and Mike go at it was simply the best basketball you could ever ask to see. Mike usually came out on top but the Pistons usually took the wins. It was much better basketball than you see now because defence was allowed back then.
Long overdue…!!!
As great as the timeline was for the Pistons to be sandwiched in the middle of the Lakers/Celts rivalry and Jordan's reign, can you imagine if that Pistons team was just a little younger to go through the entire 90s and give the Bulls a rivalry throughout the decade rather than Jordan having no real rivalry other than the Knicks for a couple years? The entire decade would have been insane.
Ron Harper, Dennis Rodman and Michael Ray Richardson could guard Jordan
Nobody stopped Jordan but as a Team the Pistons was undeniably the best (until they weren’t the best anymore). Joe D. understood the game plan for MJ and how to execute it. Honestly Joe was too small to guard MJ but he could press up on him because the lanes were closed and Mike wasn’t passing the rock.
Bruh Sidney Moncrief locked MJ up
Michael Jordan averaged 31.6 points, 6.2 rebounds and 5.9 assists in 22 games versus Sidney Moncrief in his career.@@bernardwade8096
POINT IS....ERA WHEN DEFENSE WAS PLAYED.......
TODAY, NBA DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT IS......REAL
Mike always have respect for joe d. Like kobe has respect for tony allen & t-mac don't complain just hoop
All-time SG:
Jordan
West
Kobe
Carter
Drexler
Gervin
Wade
Dumars
Maravich
Miller
T-Mac
Dumars was an excellent player. Btw Reggie Lewis guarded MJ as well as anyone.
Yeahhh…Jordan said when Joe Dumars guarded him, MJ had to work twice the effort.
Wait Joe D isn’t in the top 100?
Dumars could keep up with Jordan on both sides of the court
Dumars I don’t care what the nba says dumars definitely top 75 players 2 chips 6 all stars 5 defense 1st teams finals mvp & played alongside zeke
Joe reminds me of the neighborhood dudes ,looks like he's out of shape dad bod,but can hoop at 40
What’s with the title? Why is it “Jordan and … “ ? Why not just …
Are you new to the internet? Or do you simply not understand how algorithms work and the ways content creators need to generate traffic to earn money from views, likes and subscribers?!
So why is Dennis Rodman top 75 player but not Joe Dumars?
The thing about Dumars… he was one of the ONLY guards who could stay in front of Jordan. The Jordan-rules only worked for the pistons… why? Because no other guard in the league could make the help side defense and the fouls work to degrade the effectiveness of Jordan. I HATED the pistons, but damn did I think Dumars was a stud. Now he’s regulating on these modern weak ass players and making them play 65 games to get an award. Love him even more.
He gets lost and it’s a shame because he is a great player
Better than James Harden.
🗣️JOE DUMARS ALWAYS COMPETED AGAINST MIKE ESPECIALLY , ON. DEFENSE . JOE PLAYED ▶️ THE GAME WITH INTEGRIITY . JOE DEFINITELY , MADE MIKE WORK FOR POINTS AT TIMES . BUT , MICHAEL JORDAN SAID , " MITCH RICHMOND WAS THE TOUGHEST PLAYER▶️ AGAINST ME ON BOTH ENDS .>🎤 🏀🗑️
Alan useless…. The dude could’ve been one of the greatest shooters but he just didn’t have that dog in him
Dumars was a better player then thomas
I agree with everything you said. So on point. 🤙
Back when guys could actually dribble versus traveling on every possession. FACTS!!! 😉
