Jordan got exactly what he deserved. He got his ass beat his first 7 years. Then he and the Bulls won 6 titles. Like Mark said if Jordan WASN'T a part of the Dream TEAM. Isaiah would have been on that TEAM. Not everyone likes Jordan and not everyone thinks he is the greatest player ever!!!!!
To your point too..... Watching MJ and Reggie Miller play together in the All-Star game, or games, was just absolutely unreal. Away from the All-Star game, they went at each other's throats, but seeing them play together, was just on a level that is hard to even imagine. The skilled players that MJ and Reggie are is one thing, but their smarts about the game, too--and then playing together--was just incredible.
MJ respected Joe Dumars simply because Joe respected him. For the record Isaiah said MJ is the best to ever play the game before choosing someone else later on because of hating... Then made the Jordan rules. For a team to make a rule for a certain player, you know that player must be really great..

Mark Aguirre is respected in Chicago as well. Grew up there (as did Isaiah) and played on the Depaul (in Chicago) team that lost by two to Bird’s ISU team in the Final Four. His teammate was Gary Garland-Dionne Warwick’s godson and Whitney Houston’s half-brother. Number 1 pick in his draft, and I think Isaiah went behind him, followed by Cartright to the Bulls.
I think by now this shouldn’t even be an issue! Not taking anything away from Jordan but Isaiah was and is the quintessential point guard any team could have. He’s still my top point guard ever. Isaiah was as fierce a competitor as Jordan. All of those would tell that are go friends off the court but it’s a different story on the court. With that, Isaiah still a gentleman and a stand up guy!

John Salley described it best. Detroit wasn’t a bad group. The media brainwashed people into thinking they were dirty. They just played physical, intense hoops. Guys had 6 fouls and used them. Flagrant fouls were permitted, so they used them. No easy baskets, physical defense, they played hard.
Saying flagrant fouls were permitted is a slippery slope argument. As an NBA player, staying on the court is necessary for one's livelihood. Is it really fair for a player to have to be apprehensive about driving to the basket in a tight game because he might get rocked in a backbreaking way? Do we really want a league where our favorite players (or any players, speaking truthfully) spend half a season or more recovering from an injury obtained by a flagrant foul? Of course not.

THE BETTER DAYS OF NBA.
Rodman, Dumars, Salley, and Aguirre was straight up respect!
If you ever watched the All-Star games, IT & MJ were the perfect duo. Just imagine if they played on the same team
well so glad they weren't in the same team.. Think about MJ with Shaq then. lol
They could've been the greatest backcourt in NBA history.
This is why outside of Detriot Joe D is respected and revered for his character and integrity.
But
MJ respected Joe Dumars simply because Joe respected him.
For the record Isaiah said MJ is the best to ever play the game before choosing someone else later on because of hating...
Then made the Jordan rules.
For a team to make a rule for a certain player, you know that player must be really great..
It took multiple Pistons playing dirty (elbows, punches, tackles...) to defeat 1 player...that's how good MJ was...the Pistons won early on because it was MJ vs 5 Pistons...individually MJ outplayed them all even if the Pistons got the W early on.
They actually had to come up with " RULES " to Slow him down it still was 3 & 4 Men Pulling One (1) Single Guy out the Air.
Who gives a fck wht Zeke or Lambeer says bcse their biggest problem is tht they LOST & NOT JUST LOST THEIR ASS GOT SWEPT
Hey look someone who wasn't even alive commenting on the times. League gave Mike flagrant fouls after Mike bitched to the newspapers that Detroit was out to hurt him. Funny enough even after all those games and 3 straight playoffs, he was never injured by a team featuring 3 dirty defenders.
@andrewcook1246 and I guess thts supposed to wht make them " WHT " plz tell me bcse if 2 to 3 men are pulling him out the Air but hey I guess thts good a good thing.
@andrewcook1246 I'm 48 and was most certainly alive...grew up watching Magic, Bird, Jordan then Kobe, Shaq, and so on to now...I lived the past several basketball generations and attended live or watched the games on tv live...NOT just relied on TH-cam clips...and having actually watched these people play, the eye test says MJ is the goat easily..you don't even have to dig into stats (MJ would still come out on top)...your eyes told you in real time...

These Detroit Pistons from this era was a hell of a team, these bad boys were fun to watch.............I missed these days , at the end MJ did win 6 rings anyway,

Isaiah Thomas. Real one. 💯💯
Joe Dumars is the GOAT of Detroit. I love Joe Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuumars.
There favorite subject they love him either hate him but deep down much respect for both side
Laimbeer was a flat out dirty player!
He definitely was, it was as much psychological as it was physical every dirty play he ever made was like a chess move.
Nah. He's a BACK2BACK Champion.
@no4493 do rings exclude someone from being considered "Dirty"? Draymond Green has 4 rings, try to tell me he isn't a dirty player.
Still the play offs against the Pistons were dope😉
I think by now this shouldn’t even be an issue! Not taking anything away from Jordan but Isaiah was and is the quintessential point guard any team could have. He’s still my top point guard ever. Isaiah was as fierce a competitor as Jordan. All of those would tell that are go friends off the court but it’s a different story on the court. With that, Isaiah still a gentleman and a stand up guy!
Shouldn’t take away from Mike, Mike said he think Zeke is the second greatest point guard ever behind Magic.
The nba media of today won't interview any teams that beat and ridiculed leFlop. He is well protected.
Funny thing about lambier is, he would have made lebron crumble and cry and duck the pistons. He don’t have that dog in him

They had guys like Isiah, Joe, Vinnie, Mark Aguirre & Adrian Dantley that could make a big shot when needed. Unlike NY who had Ewing and a bunch if bricklayers. Pistons version of Rodman was arguably the most versatile defender in nba history.
Of course when someone faces the 80s most winningest team and the 90s most winningest team not to mention the 2nd winningest team in Boston, their window of success is much more narrow than other title teams in NBA history. For such a hated team it's ironic Chicago would later scoop up a trio of their players in one off season.

Joe Dumars came from a family that always had class. I grew up with Joe, a few years older. Joe never played with kids his age. He always played with the big boys. His family had nothing but respect before he became Joe. In my hometown he has another name
All 3 of them: Lamebeer, MahCorn & Liesiah are just what Horace Grant said that they were, "Straight B🤬z".
Truth! What Detroit did was within the rules of the day. The year MJ broke through...Flagrant 1&2, breakaway foul rule, and Defensive 3 seconds added.
Bill Laimbeer seems to be out of touch within his own sport, it's a shame because he comes over as bitter for not acknowledging the GOAT of one of the greatest sports, words is just words, physical can cause injury and is different
