    Who’s using HDFury products in their setup and what’s your favorite feature?

      Hi Cowboy! Thank you for the great explanation of the differences of HDFury products. Personally, I am currently using the HDFury Arcana. I needed a solution for getting Dolby Atmos from my new Bose 900 Soundbar (I also have the satellite rear surround speakers and two Bose subwoofers). I an HDMI switch for hooking up my Apple TV 4K, Blu-Ray player and Xbox. The sources are connected to the HDMI switch and the output of the switch to the Arcana. Output of the Arcana goes to the TV and the Bose 900 Soundbar. This set up is awesome as I now get Dolby Atmos sound. An additional benefit of using the Arcana is the LLDV>HDR conversion which allows me to have Dolby Vision as well. Problem is, I am so impressed with the Arcana and the availability of LLDV>HDR and how good the picture looks, last night I ordered a new Samsung 75" QN90A QLED TV to replace my 2016 Vizio 65" E65U-D3. LOL. I realize Samsung is the only TV maker that "shuns" Dolby Vision in lieu of their HDR 10+ but the reviews on the picture quality and performance sold me on this model. I plan on using the same connection setup with the new TV and utilizing the Arcana LLDV>HDR to still get me Dolby Vision. I'm hoping that if the Arcana can give me such a great picture on my current TV that is limited by the BT. 709 color gamut that it should perform even better with my new TV that has the wide color gamut. Will know soon I guess...

      @@JPace19 Thank you!
      My unofficial answer is proooobably no. And I say that because LLDV needs to be sent back to projector in an HDR 10 container. So if your projector doesnt support HDR it probably wont work.
      BUT, there is a ton of customization so you could probably still configure and setup macros to tone map your content, it just won’t activate the LLDV. But I am not entirely sure on that.

      Hi Cowboy. I promised to get back to you when I got my new TV so here I am... I got my new TV in, and all set up. It has a gorgeous picture. OMG. I am so glad I opted for this model. Picture is incredibly bright, and I get 4k UHD, HDR10+, and Dolby Atmos using my Apple TV 4K. Problem is, the picture quality is so fantastic in HDR, I am not sure I will even use my Arcana anymore. Since the new TV has an eARC HDMI connection that lets me "pass thru" Dolby Atmos from my Apple TV 4k, I no longer need the Arcana for that. Also, HDR looks SO beautiful, I am not sure I even want to mess with putting the Arcana in the mix as it will just take the LLDV signal and change it to HDR which, interestingly enough, when I play movies marked as Dolby Vision on Netflix through the Apple TV 4K, my TV shows it is playing in HDR anyway. I thought if my TV wasn't Dolby Atmos capable, I wouldn't even see the Dolby Vision icon on the movie in the description of formats offered but I do. Anyway, Arcana is a great product, even if I don't need it anymore. LOL

    This was a great video. Thanks for putting all this together! It seems like a bit of a learning curve is involved. I'm getting a Samsung S90D OLED for use with AppleTV 4K, a 4K DVD, XBox One, and Sonos Arc. If I understand things correctly, the VROOM will give me Dolby Vision on the TV, and eARC connectivity for the Sonos, as well as being a HDMI switch, which means only one cable goes in to the TV (less messy!). Hey Cowboy, great job of explaining the HD Fury products!
    I'm glad I don't have a 4k TV and the need to spend the money to add on gear. Sometimes having old equipment saves money. After 10 years of battling to save up and purchase a piece of the best "bang for buck" gear (new or used) and/or repairing salvaged electronics for my system, I believe I'm fed up with all of it. It's becoming a hobby of no reward. No one in my family watches movies on my system except me and I tend to fall asleep during movies or listening to music. It all SUX bad. Too much money and waste of precious time. Oh well, sort of fun while it lasted.

    • @hatoraidcowboy
      @hatoraidcowboy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For a non HDMI 2.1 setup, I would go: Projector/display into receiver, vroom into hdmi input of receiver, and then apple tv into Vroom. Let the Vroom do the switching.
      However, if your display is HDMI 2.1, then I would go VROOM directly into projector and apple tv/components into vroom, and then split the audio and just use your receiver for audio. That way you can get full benefit from HDMI 2.1. If your receiver AND your projector is hdmi 2.1 as well then it doesnt matter and you can basically hook it up how you want.

    I just got a new LG HU810PW projector and am loving the SDR performance but the HDR Tone Mapping just makes everything almost unwatchable. The brightness is literally non existent so I found out about the HD Fury, what I'm not clear on is will it do tone mapping for standard HDR content and output it back to the projector for better performance? Or does it only apply to Dolby Vision content and turn it into LLDV then output to HDR?

    • @hatoraidcowboy
      @hatoraidcowboy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea HDR 10 is always gonna be static no matter what. What LLDV does is it handles tone mapping on your streaming device or blu ray BEFORE it gets to your display. And then sends the signal back in a HDR 10 container.
      So you’ll still get dynamic tone mapping with LLDV it just wont be the full 12 bit color like the full version of DV

If all your MKV rips(assuming they are MKV with PLEX) are HDR 10 then its not much of a benefit. BUT HD Fury products still offer more value than just DV. It can also do HDR 10+ and you’d be future proofing yourself if you ever upgrade to DV capable devices.
      Also are you using an AV Receiver? If so that needs to support DV as well

      @@hatoraidcowboy it's the newest Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 yes and I have a Onkyo TX-NR575 receiver which does support DV. Yes they are MKV files but not all have DV embedded just a handful while the remainder are just HDR10. I see what you mean about HDR10+ so that's what I'll have to consider. Thanks again and keep up the awesome content!

      @@fezzle81 Yea you’re good then. I use my Apple TV 4K for DV content. I still have the 2017 Shield TV so most of my MKV rips are still HDR 10. I wish Apple would enable bitstream pass through for local content.
      Thank you and I appreciate your support!

    Another great video, thanks for useful info. I am considering getting a HDFury for my Epson LS500. However my AVR is a bit outdated and don’t even support 4K passthrough. So what HDFury product can take the signal from my ATV4K and split it in 4K HDR video for my LS500 and audio for my AVR via hdmi.

      Thank you! In your case you can plug your HD fury into the epson via hdmi arc and then send the audio back to your receiver over one of the hdmi audio only however you wont be able to pass dolby atmos or dts:x because hdmi arc doesnt have enough bandwidth to pass those through like eArc.
      But either of the 4K Diva, Vroom or Vertex 2 will split the audio and video.

      @@hatoraidcowboy you are a treasure to your audience.
      The best ultra HD blueray players have split video and audio.
      I like that more than eArc for certain applications. Especially big time projectors.

      Thanks man I really appreciate it.
      Yea I think AV companies are realizing a lot of people still have legacy equipment and need the A/V split. That’s why I love HD Fury products cause they give you all options. I dont have to use that feature but it’s good to know all your bases are covered with one product.

      Great video. Worth mentioning though, you don’t need to have invested in an “8K ecosystem” to benefit from the VROOM. Switching two 4K 120hz devices (PS5 & Xbox Series X) to a capable projector but sending the sound to an older receiver is my use case, and I suspect I’m not alone.

      @@hatoraidcowboy Thanks for your response. The AVR does not support Atmos or DTS:X anyway. with this setup would the image quality on the LS500 still improve? Then I guess it just a question, keep the old Receiver and get a HDFury product or get a new HDMI 2.1 capable receiver. I really like the sound of my old AVR, especially in stereo, it is a Yamaha rx a2030 so if I get a new one it should be great for stereo as well.
