    Hey Oly! Still waiting for my Ezcoo to arrive but am interested if you managed to find the correct EDID for use with the JMGO N1 Ultra. Also wondering if you ever see the Dolby Vision identifier come up on the JMGO on-screen display when playing back Dolby Vision content? Also interested in seeing how to dial in that Netflix colour adjustment perhaps in a future video. Love your work!

      Thanks for the kind words indeed and watching my videos. The JMGO N1 will never show the Dolby Vision indicator unless they some day JMGO activates the native Dolby Vision this projector has the ability to do. I settled on the Epson LS1200 326 NON HDR10+ PLUS EDID in the Epson folder of the update file. Apparently because we cannot manually tell the projector to stay on HDR10 even the LLDV will not work properly but I am happy with how it looks.

    Again, while I'm at it,
    I appreciate your videos very much especially in the sense that you're enthusiasm for the JMGO N1 Ultra Israeli captured in the spirit that a lot of us want to convey about how happy we are with our projectors!
    I have noticed one thing that was unexpected but I guess to be expected with a DLP projector:
    If the source material is not 4k, there is a slight screen door effect if you're close enough. I noticed this while watching the super bowl and they would switch cameras and it would appear and disappear as they changed source material, ie cameras. Or maybe it was the broadcast itself.

    • @OlyGoalie67
      @OlyGoalie67  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sometimes I find any fats moving video will create some distortion in the video, and yes, there is actually screen door on any source when you are up close to the screen, a side effect of the DLP still being 1080p in effect. This N1 is by all means not perfect but it is indeed the best I have used in a long time. I am going from a 130" to a 150" screen and am very curious to see whether I notice more artifacts with the bigger screen...new video coming soon on that. Thanks again for watching.

    Excellent video. I was considering getting an HD fury to try to get Dolby Vision on my Benq Projector but was worried about the price. This is a non brainer. A quick question - can you connect the box to a Mac to update the EDID settings? Is this difficult? I can't seem to find any videos on You Tube showing how to do this step by step (for a mac - there is one for a PC).

    • @OlyGoalie67
      @OlyGoalie67  11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hey Phillip, thanks for watching... unfortunately there is an issue that you don't get full Dolby Vision as with an Ezcoo, you have to manually be able to turn on HDR , which you can't do on the N1 Ultra. This is why you must have an HD FURY. The HD FURY allows you to include the HDR metadata in that Dolby Vision stream so that it keeps the HDR on giving you the image as it was intended to look. I recommend looking for a used HD FURY. The Ezcoo does give the N1 the ability to show the low latency Dolby Vision but unfortunately it's not perfect.

  • @brucesmith1754
    @brucesmith1754 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Oly,
    Thanks for the HDFURY Arcana suggestion, But as I get my feet wet, I was really looking for an inexpensive DV-to-HDR processor on the low end. I'm not really understanding what you mentioned about the JMGO N1 not having the capability to keep HDR active for the EZCoo device to work its magic. I see menu settings on the N1 for enabling HDR ; choosing Light or Dark and even SDR. My basic understanding of DV processing devices like the HDFury and EZCOO devices is that they output the converted LLDV signal as HDR and the projector just has to have the capability to accept an HDR signal. Am I missing something. Thanks!

    • @OlyGoalie67
      @OlyGoalie67  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So the HDFURY includes the 'HDR' metadata within the LLDV signal which allows the JMGO to show the signal in the correct manner so that the image is not washed out. The Ezcoo only spoofs the Apple TV, Roku, NVIDIA etc. to think the JMGO can show LLDV but it does not include the HDR METADATA signal which is why it is a washed out image. I am currently in touch with Ezcoo trying to see if we can get one of their more affordable models to include that HDR signal which would be the holy grail....cheap and HDR...fingers crossed!

    Hi, I just got this but 2.1 and I’m getting Dolby vision on my projector but is a little wash out I have the epson cinema 3800 do you wish eudi will be the best option.

    • @OlyGoalie67
      @OlyGoalie67  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So I have since learned that in order for this to work the way it was meant to, you have to be able to manually set the projector to HDR mode, if you can do that with the 3800 then it will display properly. It is actually showing LLDV, it just need the HDR to work properly. That is the difference in what the HDFURYs do is that they add HDR data to the signal so the projector stays in HDR mode. I hope that helps👍

      @@OlyGoalie67 thanks a lot for the fast reply I just notice that on your description.
      My projector has two options under the HDR menu. One is dynamic range and signal status. This signal status I can change to hdr 10, auto, sdr and HLG. But when the projector received hdr signal you are able to switch the signal status otherwise the signal status still sdr.
      Is a bit confounding because for the Apple TV in other to have best picture quality you have to select 4k SDR and select match content to on so when the incoming signal to Apple TV is HDR it will HDR no matter you select SDR.
      I’m testing with my oppo 203 and PS5 i think the 8k vroom is good for gaming since it has vrr and ALLM.
      This is a learning curve for sure I will still playing around wit this device.

      I haven't tried that yet but I believe this model does not...you need to go to the $89 unit to get that ability.

      I can attest to the fact that this does not work with CEC. I demoed mine yesterday after having received it last week. No matter what I did, it did not work with the CEC. Goalie, are you certain that it will work if I get the higher price model? TIA.

      As I mentioned in another comment it does not work with CEC. I am however not certain of whether it works with the higher price model. I can however I tested the fact that the Dolby vision does work, for certain? And it looks FANTASTIC!
      At first I thought I was just experiencing a placebo effect,
      So I decided to try with some material that I was not happy with previously. A definite improvement was noticed. Well worth the money, and if the higher price model works with CEC, that would save loads of frustration! 😮

      @@paulj9286 the higher 2.1 version does allow for CEC 👍

      @@paulj9286 that is the major difference between the lower model and the more expensive 2.1 version is the CEC. The only thing I'm not 100% certain on is if the EDID firmware upgrades that are available for the 2.0 version will also work on the 2.1. there is an AVS Forum that you could look to verify where it specifically speaks to the higher model as well.
