This is the best visual representation of what this device does that I have seen. Great vid. My only issue with the hd fury products as a layman is I dont know what differentiates the vertex/vroom/diva from each other. Are they all improved versions of the previous model or standalone products with a specific skill set ?
Thank you! So I think the biggest differences are that VROOM & DIVA offers more functionality and options. They offer hdmi switching, e-arc, hdr 10+, the vroom supports 8K, etc…Whereas the other devices may not offer those. So if you dont need hdmi switching then one might go with a vertex if you just need LLDV support.
You’re welcome! Well after looking at the website this morning I realized they released a version 2 of the Vertex that’s basically the same as the Diva. But correct if you dont need hdmi switching, save some money and go with the Vertex. I’m actually gonna do a video because I get asked this question a lot and their products can be quite confusing.
This is some very helpful information. I recently picked up an Epson 6050 and was looking at adding a Vertex2 or Diva for HDR tone mapping. Keep up the good work. Thanks again
Very Good Info. I noticed my Zidoo Z2600 is doing all of this for me once I turned on custom EDID and set to Sony 8000. Now my movies is doing this for me. I checked Aqua Man and Gemini Man specs and both shows the same outputs. I even validated on my Sony vw3285es projector, menu info to confirm. I then checked Godzilla vs Kong which shows output of DV on the Zidoo and HDR10 from the Sony. What is also noticed that all my movies show great but this custom EDID feature disables the 3D option while enabling DV, HDR10. This is all new to me so learning.
What if your projector itself does not have and arc support, but your AV, Denon in my case, supports ARC/eARC? How will the connection look like? Which input on the projector do plug what and which ones on the AV takes what? Hope I am making sense :).
Arcana if you just stream and don't need switching it has most of the required features at a cheaper price. Yes if money isn't an issue get a diva or the new 8k pre order but otherwise the arcana works a treat.
Thanks for the info! I dont have any experience with the Arcana but I have heard it does have some of the same features as the Diva. Didnt know there was an 8K on the market….
@@hatoraidcowboy hi yes the 8k is a pre order direct from fury, selling fast. Looking though the specs it's certainly a good buy and ships December. Those who ordered early got a great deal. The arcana is simple to use actually would do 8k although not interested in that. I've had no issues and benefited from the improved image and the conversion from dolby vision to HDR and as you have said whichever people choose it works a treat. A friend who needs switching has just bought a diva as available in our territory. I can see some value to the switching units such as the diva if you have consoles blue ray etc but for those going for a single input such as the shield tv then I would say use the arcana unless you have deep pockets. I've even done away with my expensive amp and bought a sonos arc, added play 3s for the rears and a sub and can say I am very happy to have simplified and overall the sound and images are now with this setup the neat I've ever had. Thanks for the reply.
@@Krakenshaul yea I looked it up after you mentioned. It looks like a great device. I’m a little bummed that I bought mine a few months ago and an 8K version is about to come out for the same price as the Diva. But I have no 8K devices so no real reason to upgrade other than to future proof. And it looks like it has a few more features. Hdmi 2.1 is nice if you have a display that supports. For now I’ll happily stick with my Diva for some time to come
Did I understand it correctly at around 26 minutes. That at 4k60 shield default you were getting 8 bit and when you went to 4k24 it went to 12 bit? I feel like an idiot because I have never touched that.
Yes same, I just didnt know that you lost bit depth for choosing 4k60 specially since 99% of movies are 4k24 and its not even displaying at 4k60. @@hatoraidcowboy
How does the upscaling look with a 1080p tv stream from Hulu or YoutTubeTV? Curious how good the upscaling is with HD Fury vs. upscaling through the shield. Thanks!
I dont have the newest Shield with AI upscaling, I hear that’s pretty legit. I dont have Hulu, but I use netflix, disney plus, amazon, hbo max, appl tv+……it all looks great with the Diva upscaling. TH-cam is hit or miss depending on the quality of the video, but anything in good 1080p looks great. Its an amazing little device.
Hi. really cool review thanks a lot for your staff. Do you know how exactly working HDR Tone Mapping using Hdfury ? I mean it analyzing frame by frame like JVC ? Or this something different. Thanks !
Thank you! So LLDV is player driven. So the tone mapping is being done on the player whereas DV is done on your display. Beyond that, I’m not sure how LLDV tones maps each frame or just each scene.
@@hatoraidcowboy so will this device give me dolby vision on my VAVA 4k projector. I just know of your channel, very interesting and you explain very well. There was concepts that I didn´t understood, but now I do. Congrats! One question: I don´t need so many input/output HDMIs, is there some HDFury solution with the same scope for tone mapping with less HDMI ports?
Hey mate is there a reason why you have the HDMI projector cable coming out of the AVR as opposed to coming out of the Diva? Is there an advantage doing it that way? Cheers Mark
@ Mark Foster Great question! You could go directly into the projector from the Diva if you wanted buy if you’re using surround sound you need to go through the receiver. I’d have to split the audio if I wanted to go directly into the receiver and that’s just an extra step that for ME, I dont need to do.
I would say so, if you have a display that doesnt have Dolby Vision. It’s also very customizable so yes a must have to get the best out of your projector or television.
Hi There, I'm looking to go down this route for an Epson projector as well to force LLDV (I'm not planning on using the HDR - SDR Tone Mapping features). The main reason I want to do this is to fix the full and lifeless HDR images the Epson's seem to produce. Disney+ output is a great example as they lower the overall picture brightness for HDR streams. Did you find an instant uplift in overall brightness/vibrancy with streams like that when using LLDV? Or are you just seeing less highlight blowout / shadow crush ?
I did notice that LLDV VASTLY improved the accuracy of colors and highlights and brightness…Apple TV+ is the best streamer for DV in my opinion and static HDR 10 compared to LLDV is very noticeable. HDR 10 looks more flat like you said so being able to have the image tone mapped before it gets sent to my project is a game changer.
@@hatoraidcowboy Thank you. I think I’m sold. I think it was Disney+ that pushed me towards it as they seem to run their overall brightness level so low on HDR, I guess as they’ve fixed the value with the presumption people are running super bright OLEDs 😄
@@hatoraidcowboy I’m actually planning a slightly different route, I’m going to use a Dr HDMI to spoof the EDID and then force my Epson into HDR mode manually (as I can’t inject the HDR signal switch like your device).
