  • Today we got mum's Grand Cherokee SRT on the hoist for new front brake pads and rotors. The calipers were more complicated than any others I've dealt with before but it all got done in the end!

    How do you deal with seized up pins literally hammering away for hours here, got one out...
    The lower one had to be cut off but is still styck

      First up make sure you’re using a good sized punch and hammer. Secondly you should try soaking it with WD-40 and leaving it for a bit

    Did u “break it in” by doing the 10mph-40mph then hard brake down to 10mph 5x etc?

    New rotors for my 2017 Jeep SRT are $1,100 each. Any recommendation for any other rotors that might be cheaper?

    Does this car and a Chrysler 300c srt8 share the same brakes?

    Did you bleed the bleeder screws at all or did you not touch them ?

    • @matthewxerri867
      @matthewxerri867  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Only gotta be bled if the brake fluid gets exposed to the air, which leaving the brake line attached to the caller the whole time will avoid

      You can also crack the bleeder screw so it’s easier to push pistons back if it’s ever to hard (assuming the caliper isn’t seized ) it’s also a good way to check before buying a new one if you have the impression it’s seized & it’s no need to bleed the brakes after as long as the brake pedal wasn’t pressed in & the bleeder was t fully removed

    FYI - never use brake cleaner on a new rotor!!!!! You will ruin it - all it needs is some break-in with some quick stops from 40mph to 10mph about 5 times to remove any coatings and create a good cut.

      Some rotors have a coating to stop the rust with an oil that has to be cleaned off. Brake cleaner is not going to hurt and is safer it’s not a big deal
