    I feel weird saying this, but this is the best video I’ve watched about training to vinyl wrap. I feel like I’ve learned a lot of professional tips as well as enough basic techniques for a beginner to follow. I’ve done 3 full car wraps but never attempted the roof. Now …… it’s just another panel

      Thank you and thank you for watching. I appreciate the kind words and I am glad this video was helpful. My goal with my tutorial videos are to help those who are trying to learn and get into vinyl wrapping. I remember when I started trying to wrap there weren’t very many tutorials out there, and if there were, they were very vague. So I wanted to make videos that were detailed enough to be helpful for new installers, based on everything I’ve learned so far working in a professional vinyl wrap shop.

    this was the best explained video on how to wrap with an antenna on the roof. I will use this technique and it’s much appreciated.

      @Color Change Customs how long will the Vinyl roof last & how do you remove snow off of it?

    • @ColorChangeCustoms
      @ColorChangeCustoms  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DM-by5sr each manufacturer specifies how long a wrap will last. As a rule of thumb, I recommend removing roof wraps at 3 years or earlier. If you live in a sun baked place like Arizona, then probably every year I would pull off the vinyl.

      @Color Change Customs I'm from Philly. I don't wanna waste my money if I got to take it off in a year.

    Did it and your advise helped except it was 100 degrees outside so the vinyl was too soft and sticky didn’t come out the best but will definitely try it with better weather

    • @ColorChangeCustoms

      Thanks for watching! Yes, hotter temperatures make the adhesive stick harder. Ideal installation temperature would be around 70-75 degrees F, with low humidity.

    looks good but I didnt see where you did the final trimming on the antenna vinyl or how to get into the final configuration at the antenna base.

    • @ColorChangeCustoms
      @ColorChangeCustoms  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Thanks for watching. In this video I didn't show the up-close of getting the vinyl up to the antenna and then trimming it out. I did narrate those portions, saying to the effect (when finishing encapsulating) to continue to the base of the antenna, then at the end during the final overview, I say to the effect to trim out the vinyl at the base of antenna.
      I do have another video showing how to trim out around the base of the antenna, starting at about 10:20 in the video: th-cam.com/video/6o7S7xurXGo/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=ColorChangeCustoms

      @@ColorChangeCustoms Thanks for that link to final antenna trimming, love that tip about using a thin piece below the knife blade as you cut around the base. I think you saved me a ton of time not having to remove the shark fin, and our car is brand new so really don't want to screw anything up w/ the headliner or other trim pieces!

    Hey man, for cars that have that seamless roof weld and no weather stripping, do you apply the knifeless tape on the inside vertical edge of the roofline, or on the crease where the roof meets the top of the body?

    • @ColorChangeCustoms
      @ColorChangeCustoms  5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Honestly, you could do either way. I would go for what you judge to be what will end up with the cleanest look and most durable application.

    Awesome! Thanks. Removing the Shark fin antenna on a 2022 Mitsibishi Outlander has proven to be a pain, at least for me. If I want to wrap the antenna as well, should it be done first? I appreciate your feedback. Thank you, once more.

    • @ColorChangeCustoms
      @ColorChangeCustoms  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you and thanks for watching! As far as wrapping the antenna, I don't know that it would matter if you did it before or after wrapping the roof. Either way, I would tape over the antenna when wrapping the roof to prevent the vinyl from sticking too hard to the antenna (wrapped or not) while installing the roof vinyl.

    Great video! One question. Can you heat the vinyl with the heat gun even when the plastic cover is on the vinyl?

    • @ColorChangeCustoms
      @ColorChangeCustoms  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, but be careful. I've noticed that when you heat too much with the plastic cap still on, when you peel it off, there's a discolored "blotch" on the surface of the film that is visible where you might have concentrated too much heat. My experience has been that heating that blotch then makes it go away, but maybe it won't for some others.

      you make this look so easy and I have a better appreciation for the craft. I tried both leaving the antenna on...screwed that up, and then tried it with the antenna removed....still screwed it up. So I'm giving up and looking to have someone do it for me.

    Hi can I put vinyl on moon roof while doing roof ?

    • @ColorChangeCustoms
      @ColorChangeCustoms  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can. Just try not to push down on it as the vinyl may stick hard to the glass and make it difficult to remove after you cut it out.

    Is a metal measuring tape a bad idea to be banging around on the car?

    • @ColorChangeCustoms

      It can be if not careful. One could use a soft, flexible tape like they use for clothing.

    Can you put vinyl on antenna?

    • @ColorChangeCustoms
      @ColorChangeCustoms  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, if it's a painted style one. The ones that are black textured plastic would not be good to wrap since the vinyl won't stick well to that type of surface.

    • @ColorChangeCustoms

    Could you just use the cutting tape at the base of the antenna and just cut to where the tape is? Or will the vinyl be too loose to the antenna? I’m thinking about attempting a forged carbon vinyl roof wrap on a 2020 mustang. Any recommendations on a brand?

    • @ColorChangeCustoms
      @ColorChangeCustoms  ปีที่แล้ว

      You could, but depending on how you lay the knifeless, it could result in gaps. In terms of brand, I do like Vvivid, but everyone has their pick. I'd maybe recommend ordering samples of different brands to see which one you like the best for your application.

    No heat gun at all?

    • @ColorChangeCustoms
      @ColorChangeCustoms  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used a torch for heat for this project. I did use heat to help around the antenna, as well as at the corners of the roof to shrink the vinyl at the corners so they hold and look good. I do use a heat gun, but I jump back and forth between using a torch or heat gun.
