Thanks for the video. The only good one of the S1 pro. Backed it just yesterday based on this review! For someone like me with 90% hard floors and a kitchen that sees use everyday, mopping performance is waay more important that carpet vacuuming power. Having so many options does make decision making that much more complicated but given how everyone's situation is just a little bit different (carpet vs hard floor, kids, pets, liquid messes, hair, home layout, priorities, privacy etc.) I feel it's a good thing. And people like you make this easier for the rest of us. Most other videos are either infomercials or straight up sponsored by the company itself. If you're just going to list all the bot's features that I can find myself on their website, why am I even watching you?! Edited to add: I hadn't even heard of this one until I saw your review pop up. So great timing!
I'm just going to say it. Never knew about your channel. I'm a backer in the low 200's for the S1 pro and saw in the comments on KS of some people waiting on your review. This is a pretty thorough review and doesn't seem biased. You, my friend, don't have enough subs. But you made another one now. Great vid.
Thanks for sharing. Yes even eufy told me people on KS were waiting on my review. I thought they were just saying that to get me to hurry up with the review lol. Appreciate the sub! Come back and let me know how you like it!
Thanks for the test, I am definitely in love with the object avoidance / navigation. Not bumping furniture while avoiding random objects is the dream. Just hope it will be reliable.
Thank you so much for the review! I am sure a lot of people asked for it and it was a lot of work. But you really help people to make a decision (especially me 😅)!
You just got a new subscriber! Thank you for a great review. You're the only reviewer that point out those drawbacks from a customer's view. I love eufy s1 pro mopping system and the obstacle avoidance but the amount of maintenance definitely is one thing to be considered.
@@jasonrico8558 it's not really a complaint. Jamie did a review and I mentioned what I think about the product. I don't get it why you need to be triggered by my comment for something isn't your problem at all. You think it's fine then go ahead purchase one and enjoy it. I rather spend more money for something require less maintenance.
This is the best review I've seen of the S1 Pro. The others are like commercials. The mop looks impressive, but having just used a similar style mop roller in my Tineco S5 Pro in a house with 2 small, short-haired dogs, I wonder if the Eufy would get clogged with pet hair and leave clumps of it around the house like the Tineco mop did. I can't imagine the robot being able to clean out all the pet hair I had from itself without human intervention - and mind you, I vacuum my house regularly and there was no visible pet hair on the floor before mopping with the Tineco. That said, the mopping system does look well ahead of the ones I've seen (and used) on other robots. I use a Roborock S7 and it's excellent, but there's no way dragging around a damp pad will clean as well as a roller that's scraped clean as it rotates.
Great review and informative. I have one on order and after this review I am pleased with my choice. It seems that some of the cons you mentioned could be fixed with future software updates. The easiest I’m sure is include a mop only mode with no vacuum. That would be excellent for quick spill cleanups.
Dear Jamie, Thank you so much for your excellent reviews! You truly deserve the "Thanks" feature for your insightful content. I recently purchased the S1 Pro, and while I appreciate many of its features, I encountered two significant issues that wasn't mentioned in your review: We live in a multi-story home, and unfortunately, the S1 Pro doesn't handle multiple floors well. Although the app allows you to add multiple floors, the robot still searches for a docking station on the floor where it started cleaning, even if there isn't one. Additionally, the start sequence is not intuitive: to clean a different floor, you must first start the cleaning in the app, wait for the robot to load water at the station, and when the robot exits the station then physically move it to the desired floor. If you don't follow this precise process, the robot either won’t load water or won’t recognize the new floor properly. Eufy's support suggested buying an S1 for every floor, which I find impractical and unsupportive. Another issue I encountered is the recommendation of Eufy to vacuum 1-3 times before using the vacuum + mop mode (see sticker on top of the robot). There is no automated feature for this sequence in the app (like there is with Roborock). So you have to start first vacuuming in the app and then start vacuuming+mopping, manually. If you start with vacuum + mop mode right away, the robot doesn’t pick up all the pet fur, and the fur tends to stick to the mopping roller, which then gets transferred to the docking station’s cleaning area. I hope this feedback can help improve the user experience and provide clarity to other potential buyers in similar situations.
Thanks for sharing and thanks for the compliments! I have a single story home so I am not able to test that well. As for the vacuum and mop function that is a drawback of a mop that has an onboard dirty water tank and filter.
Thank you for the video Jamie, this helps me that I should wait another year or two after my current Ecovacs T8+ broken again to get this type of robot :)!!
Thanks for the review. I was an early backer for this vacuum but I think the residual water in the onboard dirty water bin, plus the filter cleaning is going to be a dealbreaker for me. I saw it briefly mentioned on a few other reviews, but yours went more in depth also showing the amount of dirt accumulated on the dock that would need to be cleaned. On what on paper and in every other test looks like an excellent vacuum, it's unfortunate the amount of additional maintenance the self-cleaning roller mop would incur. I'll probably hold out for a gen 2 product that solves the dirt issue and residual water issue as a result. Though, I do wonder if Eufy could have put a set of UV sterilization lights in the dirty water bin to prevent bacteria growth and prevent that growing funk odor.
Other TH-cam creators are paid for their video. I never accept money and my reviews are my own. This cost me financially as TH-cam does not pay much at all, but for me it is about doing the right thing.
@@jamie.andrews Yup, finding a good video of the S1 pro has been tough because almost every single one spouts the exact same marketing spiels, using stock footage of the vacuums mopping up liquids, and sending the vacuums to mop up what appeared to be ketchup and milk (in every single review, what's the chances huh?). I thoroughly appreciate your reviews and the time you put into them.
@@Axyusi Yea those reviews are hard to stomach. If you hear the words ty for x company for partnering with me on the video it is a sign to click off imo.
If you think about it, it’s really not much maintenance. I remember seeing a comment from Eufy on their Kickstarter where they explained that the ozonated water prevents odors from building up quickly by sterilizing the clean water that it uses to constantly clean the mop. I doubt it’ll fully prevent bacteria from growing/producing smells, but it should make it take longer for that to happen. And with a regular mopping schedule, that tiny bit of residual water left in the tank should get flushed out before there’s any chance for new bacteria to grow and start to smell. That leaves just the dirty tank mesh screen as the only thing that will need occasional cleaning, and all that requires is a quick rinse. Compare that to the S8 MaxV Ultra review where it has added maintenance for its new rotating edge mop and new extending arm brush-both got so tangled with hair that they stopped spinning and the hair was shown to be quite difficult to remove. That’s on top of the hair tangles it got on the axles for both of its main brush bars which Jamie also said was difficult to remove. So that’s four total areas that will require frequent, time consuming maintenance. To me that sounds like much more hassle than simply rinsing a mesh screen every once in a while.
Definitely buying this to replace my Roborock. Also looks like way better value for money vs. the S8 MaxV Ultra, which only beats it in carpet pickup. For everything else though, this is better and can be had for much cheaper at $999 on Kickstarter vs. $1799 for the S8. I hope this pushes Roborock to innovate more or lower their prices. Their only advantage is in carpet cleaning now.
1799$ for the watertank version is a lot. In germany its about 1399€ and with some cashback etc. you can easily match 1300€ and lower. The S1 is about 930€. The Qrevo MaxV 800€. X40 Ultra Complete 1400€. The decision is more difficult. :)
Great review! Everyone is sleeping on the Ozone functionality, though. I've been enhancing my robot floor cleaners with an ozone generator for years, so I was thrilled to see this one comes with a built-in generator. I immediately pledged to the Kickstarter campaign and I'm eager to see how much ozone (measured in parts per million, or PPM) can actually produce.
I've done the same and share your sentiments. I just hope at some point you can specify how often it returns to refill since the half life of ozone is so short, or that Eufy has already accounted for that.
I’d love to see a video of the Eureka J20, and how it compares to the Eufy S1 Pro. Since they’re both worlds first flagship models with the mopping roller and a wastewater tank onboard so they dont spread out dirt/waste water. They both mop way better than the traditional round mopping pads. Could you do a full comparison between them?
Thank you so much for your honest review!! I feel nervous spending so much on a new product. We currently only have an iLife v3 bump around that I used while I am doing dishes just to keep up with the pet hair. But with 2 kids and both cats and dogs, excellent obstacle avoidance is a must for me to upgrade to a high priced robot. This looks like it will be a game changer for me. We have mostly hard floors with only a few area rugs. Living on a farm with dirt and mud in and out of the mudroom/kitchen everyday the mop feature has me sold. I can’t wait for this thing to help me!
You might think about removing your pledge, waiting for multiple and proper reviews. Never put a pledge if you cannot afford the disappointment, I mean, it sounds weird to be nervous about something not mandatory...
@@Adesfire74 Eufy is giving a 30-day return policy with the S1 Pro even if you back it on Kickstarter, so there's really nothing to lose by backing it and locking in the much lower price vs. retail which is why I backed it. If I don't like it I'll definitely be sending it back for a refund.
@@Adesfire74 well, maybe nervous was the wrong word, but cautious. But Eufy isn’t an unknown brand or really a gamble. They have produced plenty of quality products. But thanks for your concern.
You are the king of Vacuum reviews! Do you know if this has a water/drainage hookup kit so I don’t have to fill and empty the water? That’s the main reason I went with the Dreame X30 because I was able to hook it up to my sink water and drain line.
Hi Jamie, I’ve just backed this project on KS via your link in the description. I’m currently using an Q Revo. Great product, but the obstacle avoidance is lacking at chair legs that aren’t vertical 😂. Will the final product come with eufy logos or still the Mach brand?
@@jamie.andrews You think? Haha. I notice that the Q Revo is better at navigating and can also choose a more logical route through the room. Drying the mop is quite noisy on the S1 Pro, when compared to the Q Revo. The robot itself also makes more noise, but that is probably due to the stronger motor. The obstacle detection is a lot better on the S1 Pro! Very slanted table and chair legs are still a struggle.
Thanks for the detailed and honest review! At the current Kickstarter price of $999 do you believe it is a better value than Roborock's current offerings in regards to the price to performance ratio?
@jamie.andrews Another excellent review. Consumer Reports should work for YOU! You mentioned you had the S1 Pro for a few months? Eufy said on the Kickstarter discussion that they had made improvements to the vacuum function based on other reviews that showed below average vacuum performance on carpet. Do you know if you had one of the "revised" units with the change already, or was it the review unit before they did the "upgrade" ? Thank you again for your thorough reviews!
As far as I know mine is the final product. They worked with beta testers last fall so that was before me. They are aware of what I said in my review and have not told me that I have those issues due to a preproduction model.
Just bought one. On the first cleaning gave me an error and couldnt be fixed. Probably going to return in after reading on reddit that other people couldnt fix the issue as well
I have replied 4 or 5 times and my comment is getting deleted for some reason. Anyways the error code is eb1k . I did everything it said on the app and on the website and I even looked up some online solutions but it seems to be an error that is in my case not resolvable.

New subscriber here! I like your review style and throurough, unbiased information. My consern with all robot vacuums/ mop combinations is that they might damage hardwood floors. I have a 2500 sq foot home that is all hardwood except for tile in bathrooms. (wood plus some area rugs) Seems like the mop roller in the Mach s1 Pro wouldn't leave much water on the floor as spinning pads or flat pads. Is the floor pretty dry after it passes? No one ever mentions that in these robot reviews. Water is a hardwood floor's worst enemy.
Wow looks very promising and with your testing reputation I’m so tempted to replace my Ecovacs’s X2 Omni . But not sure how I’m going to deal with the X2 if I order this S1 Pro. Question about the LEDs at the docking station, can you turn them off at night?
Really good test video, many thanks for that. The residual water in the dirty water tank seems to be a problem. You must have tested something like this beforehand at eufy. It seems as if the Eufy S1 Pro is something like a beta version, so that at some point a final product, the S2, can be brought out thanks to all the Kickstarter buyers and their experiences. Would you personally still prefer the Eufy s1 Pro or the Roborock Q Revo MaxV?
Thanks for a thorough and comprehensive review. I just received my S1 Pro and it emits a clonking sound when going straight - both I vacuum and vacuum + mop mode. Is that something you have encountered during your time testing the S1 Pro?
@@jamie.andrewsyeah the regular Q Revo. I was going to snag it for $700 but the price just went up again, so I’m thinking it may be worth waiting for the S1 Pro for $230 more. Again thanks for your real review! All the others are just ads
I have a Q Revo (not the new one). It cleans decently well with only average vacuum performance, decent mopping ability, and truly horrible obstacle avoidance. Mine gets caught up in cables all the time and frequently needs rescuing. If you don't mind pre-cleaning before it cleans then you'd like it, but this is significantly better at basically everything the Q Revo does. The new Q Revo at least improves on the suction and has slightly improved mopping, but it has the same setup for obstacle avoidance so I expect that to be just as bad as on the first one. Basically, if you want a robot vacuum that you can set and forget, the Q Revo is not that.
It does not really compare honestly. You want to compare the Eufy X10 Pro to the Qrevo. The S1 is not only more expensive, but it focuses on mopping over carpet and the Qrevo does both quite well. Object avoidance is another story though.
@@jamie.andrews Thanks for clearing it up! Obstacle avoidance is important. I will save money and get the S8 Max V when they fix their issues. I am not satisfied with this Eufy S1.
I’ve stumbled upon your video and concur with many of the comment here that your video is quality! I’m coming from a Roborock S7 and want to purchase the S1 Pro. However, from a privacy standpoint, I’m curious if this can perform its cleaning without an internet connection? Alternatively, can the unit operate with the RGB camera blocked? (at the cost of weaker object avoidance)
Most of these robots require an internet connection. Best thing to do is create a guest network and have them connect to that. There is no way to disable the camera in the app like other models so my guess is it is needed for navigation, but I did not test covering it with tape.
What did you end up buying? We're also looking to upgrade from a Roborock S7 and like the fact that it doesn't have any RGB cameras for the same reason as you.
@@zoide-777 I still let it connect to the Internet but out a small piece of electrical tape over the camera off the SwitchBot S10 and turn off obstacle avoidance. Both have the roller mop that I was looking for, but SwitchBot was nearly half the price and can drain its own dirty water tank. But it’s too tall to clean under my kitchen cabinets. The Eufy would’ve be able to reach under.
It looks good but my big issue with it is how tall and thin the dock is. To my eyes that makes it more intrusive than the shorter and squatter docks such as the Eufy X10, Roborock s8 MaxV Ultra or upcoming Dreame X40. A shorter dock gives more options to tuck it under a shelf/table/worktop etc and the latest Roborock & Dreame will be offering the option of even shorter fully plumbed docks which gives even more options for tucking the dock out of the way.
The tall profile is actually a feature for me, it means we don't have to bend over when emptying the tanks or filling them up. The buttons for the dock are also more accessible this way. Plus the only spot I have in my house for a dock is kind of narrow so I was actually worried about how to fit a standard dock in. This taller + slimmer profile fixes that issue.
@@sugarcandy243Same here, the dock is one of the reasons I like the S1 so much. I also really like the top mounted buttons to start a cleaning. As someone with bad ADD, I often will forget to send my Q Revo out after my kitchen gets messy since I have to go look for my phone, try not to get distracted by other notifications, open the Roborock app, and start a cleaning. Sounds simple enough, but I can’t begin to count how many times I’ve gotten distracted and never sent it out to clean. Top mounted buttons on the base fix this for me since I can just walk over and press the start button. No apps or phone to fiddle with. This is a me problem for sure, but I can’t imagine I’m the only one who’s like this.
@@Brendon471 You're definitely not alone. I'm not diagnosed or anything but I have noticed when I pick up my phone to do something specific, I generally never get around to doing it. There are just so many other notifications vying for your attention LOL. I prefer using the Google home app via voice or actually pressing a button or something. My phone is simply too distracting. And this when I don't do social media at all. TH-cam is as social as I get!
@@sugarcandy243 Glad it's not just me lol. Speaking of voice assistants, the S1 should be getting that capability soon! I remember reading one of the comments from Eufy on their Kickstarter and they said that matter support will be added in an upcoming software update. Totally get you on the social media side of things, I try to stay away from them too. And I gotta say... I never thought I'd be this excited to get a robot vacuum! This review and the one from Forbes were enough to completely sell me on the S1. So glad I backed this instead of going for the S8 MaxV Ultra.
I do not have eufy s1 option in Australia at this point, could you tell me what is the best option for having best performance for both vaccum and mopping robot , if Eufy S1 I will wait until it comes here, but would love to know your thoughts on that as I am confused watching all of your reviews and others, thanks
What I want to know is there a way for it to clean multiple floor levels? Obviously one would have to carry it from the main floor to the other floors, but will it do that?
What can you say about cleaning tiles that have light grout? Which type of mop does this job better? I have a Roborock S7 Max and it doesn’t clean grout at all. Because of this, I was thinking to upgrade to a robot with a spinning mop, but now with this new type of mop, is it even better to clean grout?
If you are taking about grout lines like mine that are lower than the tile there is no robot capable of cleaning them. The mops can't drop down into grout. Even this one with a roller did not drop down into grout. For my grout spot cleaning I use a Dreame H12 Pro and let it spin the mop over the grout and it works, but is a long process. The best answer for now is a grout brush and some vinegar.
Awesome video! Regardless how slick the dock looks, I wish they also made available an auto-fill auto-drain dock like Roborock’s last model. Then this robot would’ve been a no brainer.
These super high end, fancy machines are great and all but what if your house is mainly carpet? I don’t want or need to pay extra for all the extra features relating to mopping. I would like a machine that has all the features as far as object avoidance, navigation, etc but have the machine geared towards just vacuuming. Best machine all around for vacuuming. I hope that makes sense. What would your recommendation be?
Do you still have / use the Eufy S1 Pro? I'm wondering because I'm hearing beeping/scraping sound when mopping. Today it dropped at several points dirty mopping water on my floor. On dark carpet/doormats its showing abnormal behaviour like bumpy rides, unpredictable stops etc.
I still have it, but have not used it much since the review which is pretty common as I need to test and review the next robot up for review. I did not notice any scraping sounds when mopping. To me it sounds like the dirty water tank might not be completely seated in the robot. This is easy to have happen as it happened to me several times. That or the filter might be in need of cleaning. Dark rugs or carpet can set off the cliff sensors on the bottoms of robots. Turn off visual anti-drop function.
@@jamie.andrews Fellow users of the Eufy S1 Pro Omni will probably recognize this; drops of dirty water falling on the floor while mopping. This is due to the design of the dirty water tank. The filter is not yet full, but dirty water ends up behind the filter and returns to the floor. Eufy has a newly designed water tank and filter, which I just received! I'm curious if this helps, it seems so! The new filter isn’t fitting into the old tank. If you want to see it, I can send you some pictures of it.
It’s an promising direction for robot mops. The extra maintenance for the dirty water mechanisms on the robot is a non-starter, though. The overall guiding principle for new robot features should be less frequent work, not more. Especially mucky work. Looking forward to future iterations of this tech that can resolve these pain points.
Can't say I disagree. What needs to happen is a complate drain of the onboard dirty water tank and then a rinse. I'm not sure how to get around not cleaning a filter though. It seems if a robot is going to clean itself while mopping the process of cleaning the filter moves from the dock to the robot.
To be fair, they all require some maintenance. Just look at Jamie’s S8 MaxV Ultra review where he showed it needing additional hair removal from the new extending side arm (which stops rotating when tangled) and the new rotating edge mop which also gets tangled. That’s on top of the two vacuum rollers, which both got hair tangled in them that was difficult to remove from the axles. That is way, way more time consuming and tedious than just a simple rinse of the dirty tank mesh screen that the S1 has. I’d also guess that with daily scheduled cleaning, the dirty water tank will get flushed out well before any standing water in the tank starts to smell. I wouldn’t be surprised if future bots integrate a mesh cleaning system along with a dirty water tank drying system to solve both of these problems. I’m guessing we’ll see a similar style roller mop in the Roborock S9 next year, so it’ll be very interesting to see how other companies improve on this going forward.
@@jamie.andrews Thank you! Seems like many people are overthinking how much extra maintenance there really is with the S1. Question regarding the ozonated water-did you notice that preventing noticeable smell buildup in either of the dirty water tanks (on the bot or base) compared to the dirty water tank on other bot's bases?
I have not tested the X40 yet so it is hard to comment on that one. The S8 MaxV has more features, but atm also cost a good bit more. You would have to decide if you want to spend almost double for the features on the S8 MaxV like edge cleaning, voice assistant, remote viewing and hot water mop washing. Some people also prefer a refillable detergent tank like on the S8 MaxV.
@@jamie.andrews Do you think those extra features are worth the premium? Also is the S1 Pro in your opinion better than other $1000 robots from Roborock and Dreame? thank you for your review, us fans from Reddit really appreciate it!
Maybe the S8 MaxV, but I wouldn't recommend the X40. I returned mine. Mapping failed 5 times. I had to prevent any sunlight from shining in the house, after that the mapping was successfully completed. Went for a meal outside, robot stuck at "obstacle". That obstacle was my damn wall... haven't seen worse mapping / navigation in years.
Nice review! Most of other TH-camrs are just informercial they are doing, when they get the the products for free. I purchase two of these on kickstarter, I don’t have any carpet in my house so Hopefully it works fine.
Came back to re-check out your review. I have the S8 Max Ultra which I am generally satisfied with, but am very intrigued about the superior hard floor mopping capability of this unit as I have 90% wood floors. I am wondering if it is worth the better cleaning ability and welcome your thoughts.
This mops better than most robots maybe aside from the Narwal Freo robots. With that said it has no edge clenaing and no camera that is accessible in the app. There is more maintenance on the S1 since it has an onboard dirty water tank. I often get asked the question "This or That" and honestly it comes down to people's needs and wants. One person will turn their nose up to the fact the S1 has no edge cleaning and the next person could care less. Are you thinking of getting rid of the S8 MaxV Ultra?
@@jamie.andrews You are 100% correct in that different features matter to different people. Over-all, I am very satisfied with my S8, having said that, the mopping could definitely be better. The vibrating pad is OK, but since my home is 95% hard floor with only a couple small rugs my priority is having a good mopping function. I previously had an Ecovacs with dual-rotating discs, and honestly think that was more effective then the S8 vibrating pad. Just from watching your review, I have the feeling this S1 has the best mopping system currently available. So…. I would love to try one out… will I splurge to get one? Will it be that much of a difference? Life is full of questions Jamie!!!! 😂
This one right now is half the price so that makes the S8 MaxV a hard sell, however I don't think they directly compete. The S8 MaxV has better carpet cleaning ability, decent mopping and several additional features not found on the S1 Pro. If those features don't mean much to a buyer than the S1 right now is a great price and hard to beat.
I want to buy my first robot vacuum cleaner soon, buth the choices are becoming increasingly difficult for me😢😢 Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, Dreame X40 Ultra or this Eufy S1 Pro - Roborock is ridiculously expensive and has some software bugs, buth vacuuming and mopping corners looks good. Software looks good and parts are readily available. - Dreame has about the same functions and also has extra the function that can cut hairs. Could be useful for my home situation. - Eufy lowest suction power, this is also visible during the tests. Corners are not vacuumed properly and edge mopping is also not good. Has very good object recognition that can be very useful and Mopping harder and better on the floor? Especially when mopping and cleaning the brush at the same time. As Jamie also says, dirt doesn't go through your house during the mopping. My house consists of laminate, 1 carpet ~ 3,50m² and straight skirting boards against the wall. Sleek, simple and well tidy at home. Does anyone have any advice as to which brand would be best for me? Vacuuming and mopping are of course important. (And Jamie another good review! Thanks❤)
@@jamie.andrews Unfortunately, it is left off my list because of the missing arm that cannot vacuum corners properly. I appreciate that you read this reaction, think for me and respond. Very cool of you!
Go with the S1 to lock in the $999 Kickstarter price and if you don’t like it, return it. Eufy has said they’ll honor their 30 day return policy even for Kickstarter backers, so you really have nothing to lose other than saving yourself a ton of money over retail in the event that you do end up liking it. One thing that you also shouldn’t overlook when picking your first robovac is their level of autonomy and how much pre-cleaning they require. This is something I didn’t even think about when getting my Roborock Q Revo, which gets tangled in cables and socks all the time. It’s really annoying having to go find and rescue it since the whole point of these bots is to do your daily cleaning with as little interaction from you as possible. This is where the S1 shines since its obstacle avoidance is best in class. You can truly set it and forget it, never having to worry about stray cables, socks, or other things around your house. That also somewhat addresses your suction power concern as you can just set it on a schedule to do a double pass in the dirtiest rooms. With its high level of autonomy, it’ll do that double pass without you even noticing or thinking about it since it will never get itself stuck anywhere. All you’ll notice is clean floors. Hopefully this helps a bit with your decision making! :)
The review missed some points like speed/effectiveness, navigation in general, and sticky/white glove test after mopping. Maybe in the future. ;) Thx for the review! I will go with X40 Master or later on with the Roborock S20.
@@jamie.andrewswhen do you think you will upload the x40 review? Could you please give some pointers on the real world mopping performance differences between the s1 pro and the x40? I read that the cleaning solution of the x40 is only used to clean the pads, which has me in doubt to pull the trigger on it. Although it (the x40) seems to be the superior robot, especially with the water hookup kit it would be able to run very autonomously with little maintenance. Thank for the reviews. 🙏🏻

Curious why would Eufy put this product in Kickstarter instead of their regular page? Is kickstarter a better marketing strategy for them? Against the competition?
It does everything better and adds detergent injection. The only downside is more maintenance. If you have mostly carpet the S1 does not make much sense.

Unfortunatelly not a word on floor to ceiling mirrors and how the robot fares with that. Absolutely no one does that. And that topic is nonexistent for producers either. I have quite a few of them and am still looking for a self cleaning vacuum-mop robot which can deal with that and effectively clean my home. I had dreame l10s ultra and roborock q revo at home, and they where terribly useless and were returned. Any advice, except for getting rid of mirrors? ;)
I would sound like a broken record because all robots with lidar have this issue with floor mirrors as you stated. The only ones the don't are the new Roborock S8 MaxV and QRevo MaxV. I mentioned this in the review of the S8 MaxV that I put out right before this video.
Hmmm, i've had one of the very first robots with lidar for quite a few years and it didn't have any issues with mirrors and didn't try to avoid curtains which i really liked too😊 Unfortunatelly it didn't mop and i wanted an upgrade Nonetheless i think i'll give a try to q revo maxV if you say so 😅@@jamie.andrews
I would switch to the Eufy X10. This thing seems to have too many compromises. The poor edge coverage and the less than ideal vacuuming performance in particular. I would get the X10 even if they were the same price. But the fact that this is more expensive doesn't sit well with me.
@@mohamedahmed1023Eh, the only additional maintenance is mostly just the mesh screen for the dirty water tank. That will only need a quick rinse every once in a while. Vacuum performance on carpet is average, but for everything else this looks as good or better than other flagship bots. Hard floor vacuuming is very good and mopping is best in class, as is obstacle avoidance. X10 really only beats it on price.
@@Brendon471 X10 price is a lot lower and has better edge coverage. The S1 needs to justify the premium. So although the S1 has better mopping performance, it has worse coverage. So I'd say they're even in mopping. Also, other reviews showed the S1 is quite a bit worse in vacuuming.
@@jamie.andrews Hey Jamie, just a suggestion but you might want to make a pinned comment about this somewhere. Seems like many are unaware that they can still get the Kickstarter pricing for a limited time.
For some reason it won’t post my comment when I include Eufy’s directions here, so I’ve posted it as an entirely separate comment on the video (sort as new and look for my comment). Hopefully this helps and you're able to get the Kickstarter pricing. :)
@@jamie.andrews Doc tanks, the capacity is on the low side. Or have the ability like my Dreame 30 to have it hooked up to house plumbing. That works really well!
@@LaszloBagi The clean water tank is fairly average in size it is the dirty water tank that is below average, however I feel this does not matter at all since you should really be cleaning out that tank atleast every day or 2 or it will stink so I never fill mine past 1000ml. Just another perspective.

Glad it was helpful!
Ahhh, get yourself a beer and enjoy it! Cheers!
Thanks for the support! I will!
You just got a new subscriber! Thank you for a great review. You're the only reviewer that point out those drawbacks from a customer's view. I love eufy s1 pro mopping system and the obstacle avoidance but the amount of maintenance definitely is one thing to be considered.
Thanks for the sub!
Geez break out a mop and bucket 3 times and cry about the maintains then. Not to mention vacuuming the floor first
@@jasonrico8558 yeah I don't like it. What is your problem?
@thuyvan7503 it is so silly to complain about this. It is like crying about a toilet that doesn't clean itself? Compared to an outhouse.
What did you end up getting? We have a Roborock S7 and are looking to upgrade, since most of our house is hardwood floors.
Great review and informative. I have one on order and after this review I am pleased with my choice. It seems that some of the cons you mentioned could be fixed with future software updates. The easiest I’m sure is include a mop only mode with no vacuum. That would be excellent for quick spill cleanups.
Glad it was helpful!
Best robot vacuum channel on youtube!!
Thanks! While I went with another unit, I value what you’ve done in this video and will subscribe for future content you make.
Thanks so much for the support!
Many thanks for the honest review! Looks very interesting.
My pleasure!
Dear Jamie,
Thank you so much for your excellent reviews! You truly deserve the "Thanks" feature for your insightful content.
I recently purchased the S1 Pro, and while I appreciate many of its features, I encountered two significant issues that wasn't mentioned in your review:
We live in a multi-story home, and unfortunately, the S1 Pro doesn't handle multiple floors well.
Another excellent review Jamie! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Waiting patiently for mine. I hope the eufy team tackles some of the issues you pointed out
How did it go? Pros/cons? Thanks
Your videos are incredible, thank you
Glad you like them!
Thank you for the video Jamie, this helps me that I should wait another year or two after my current Ecovacs T8+ broken again to get this type of robot :)!!
Glad it helped!
Had this for a couple of months now, the mopping is so great on a pvc floor.
Awesome review!!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for the review.
Make sure to use my link in the description! It helps fund reviews like this.
@@jamie.andrews I'll be sharing it with everyone I know! :)
1799$ for the watertank version is a lot. In germany its about 1399€ and with some cashback etc. you can easily match 1300€ and lower. The S1 is about 930€.
The Qrevo MaxV 800€. X40 Ultra Complete 1400€.
The decision is more difficult. :)
Superb review
Thank you 🙂
Wow, incredible review. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing!
I've done the same and share your sentiments. I just hope at some point you can specify how often it returns to refill since the half life of ozone is so short, or that Eufy has already accounted for that.
Did you end up measuring it? How was it?
Excellent review. Wish it had hot wash mop cleaning like roborock
This model looks really good!

At $999 there is a lot ofvalue here. Which Roborock model are you referring to?

@@jamie.andrews Thank you.

It applies more water than most spinning or vibrating mops, however the water coverage is even.
First as usual, great job frogman!
Wow looks very promising and with your testing reputation I’m so tempted to replace my Ecovacs’s X2 Omni . But not sure how I’m going to deal with the X2 if I order this S1 Pro.
Question about the LEDs at the docking station, can you turn them off at night?
They turn off after just a bit of time.
I have not tested the Qrevo MaxV just yet. It is next but still in the box. Might be worth the wait.
Ok thanks 😊
Best review I've seen on this. The rest might as well be from Eufy employees as they don't mention hardly any cons at all.
Thanks for a thorough and comprehensive review.
I just received my S1 Pro and it emits a clonking sound when going straight - both I vacuum and vacuum + mop mode. Is that something you have encountered during your time testing the S1 Pro?
No. Nothing like that.
Thanks, I’ll consult with Eufy then
Thanks for the review! Do you think this is worth the extra cost over the Q Revo?
The old Qrevo? This has better obstacle avoidance and detergent injection so if those are important features I would say so.
@@jamie.andrewsyeah the regular Q Revo. I was going to snag it for $700 but the price just went up again, so I’m thinking it may be worth waiting for the S1 Pro for $230 more. Again thanks for your real review! All the others are just ads
@@Tom-fn8xc Keep in mind the Kickstarter ends early on the 1st. Link is in the description.
Is the hard floor vacuuming performance of the Eufy S1 Pro as good as the Dreame L20s?
Yes
How is this compared to Roborock Q Revo ?
Good point. I liked it being tall so I don't have to bend over which could also be an issue for elderly folks.
And I gotta say... I never thought I'd be this excited to get a robot vacuum! This review and the one from Forbes were enough to completely sell me on the S1. So glad I backed this instead of going for the S8 MaxV Ultra.

What I want to know is there a way for it to clean multiple floor levels? Obviously one would have to carry it from the main floor to the other floors, but will it do that?
Yes it support multiple levels. I think up to 4.
@@jamie.andrews awesome! Thank you very much
What can you say about cleaning tiles that have light grout?
I saw on one of the campaign comment that they working on it. But i dont think to count it.
Will you review the Yeedi M12 Pro+ soon? Has hot water washing, extendable mop arm for under $800

No plans atm.
That is sadly tough because good object avoidance and high end normally go hand in hand. The Roborock S8 Plus might suit your needs.
@@jamie.andrews well I don’t mind paying for a good machine just don’t need to pay extra for the mopping features

Where you will put it on scale between s7 maxi ultra and s8 maxv ultra in mop, vacuum?
It has more features that the S7 Maxv and less than the S8 MaxV. Somewhere in between.

@@jamie.andrews but they said they changed to vacuum rollers on update
Do you think the s1 pro is worth buying over x10 or dreame x40?
X10 is a good bit less expensive and the X40 is a good bit more expensive. It all comes down to a user's budget and needs in a vacuum and or mop.
I am leaning towards the eufy s1 pro always clean. I’m just curious if it is actually better than the x10.
@@Axel_F23 It is better at cleaning. Does require more maintenance than the X10 Pro though.
@@Brendon471 Good analysis for the comparison.
The small pipes will be a hassle to clean when clogged by dirty water.
Would you pick this over the X40 or S8 MaxV?
@@peterjochem That is a shame.
14:33 you said 10mm but then show 35mm on the tape measure. Which one is it?
35mm. Good catch!
Nice review!
Most of other TH-camrs are just informercial they are doing, when they get the the products for free.
I purchase two of these on kickstarter, I don’t have any carpet in my house so
Hopefully it works fine.
I hate infomercials. They end up costing everyone and informing no one.
Where can we buy this?
I just updated the description. Here is the link eufy-us.sjv.io/eK6bqg
If you had to decide between this one and the S8 MaxV ultra??
This one right now is half the price so that makes the S8 MaxV a hard sell, however I don't think they directly compete. The S8 MaxV has better carpet cleaning ability, decent mopping and several additional features not found on the S1 Pro. If those features don't mean much to a buyer than the S1 right now is a great price and hard to beat.
I want to buy my first robot vacuum cleaner soon, buth the choices are becoming increasingly difficult for me😢😢 Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, Dreame X40 Ultra or this Eufy S1 Pro
- Roborock is ridiculously expensive and has some software bugs, buth vacuuming and mopping corners looks good.
Thanks❤)
Can I add the Qrevo MaxV to your list? I should have that review out in May and it might just be the sweet spot for you with price and performance.
Comparison with Eufy X10 OMNI?
How is this with dog hair compared to the Dreame X30/X40?
Not real sure as I don't have dogs and I tend to not test with fake hair because it is just not the same.
@@jamie.andrews Thank you for the reply. :)
Is the auto drying mop really 55c?
I don't think I measured this one. It is effective though.
Which robot vacuum is best for mopping?
In my tests either this one or the Narwal Freo X
The review missed some points like speed/effectiveness, navigation in general, and sticky/white glove test after mopping.
Maybe in the future. ;)
Thx for the review!
I will go with X40 Master or later on with the Roborock S20.
Thanks for the feedback. I try to stay consistent yet improve. The X40 review should be out in June.
@@sjannanutttree8163 The S1 Pro mops better that the X40 except for edge cleaning. I have not heard of the X40 not putting detergent in the robot form mopping. Where did you hear this?
@@jamie.andrews fake news apparently, the website provides an image and text that state otherwise. I would link it but it seems my comments with links get deleted
@@jamie.andrews ok I’m not sure now. Some comments on Reddit claim to have contacted dreame about this and they state that dreame confirmed it is only used for washing the mop pads. Do you have a contact at dreame you could ask about this?
Does it handle mapping of multiple floors?
Yes up to 4 floors
Example of large upright self cleaning mop?

How does it compare to the X10 Pro?
This is a step up from the X10 Pro in most every way.
Is "E11 rated filter" different than a HEPA filter?
Yes. It is less than HEPA. Most robot vacuums are E11. HEPA would reduce airflow too much.
@@jamie.andrews 🤔 hmmmm. I'm pretty sure my RoboRock S5 has a true HEPA filter. It is a shame the Eufy doesn't because this looks to be a pretty good robot vacuum/mop combo otherwise.

Curious why would Eufy put this product in Kickstarter instead of their regular page? Is kickstarter a better marketing strategy for them? Against the competition?
That is an excellent question. I think it serves to drum up interest and also hype.
Great review but the constant mention of wauder drove me nuts.
I really hope you review the new Dreametech X40!
I will in late June.
How does a person find out about stuff like this to take advantage of the early bird specials? Apparently their campaign funding started in March
If you are interested in a particular manufacture follow their Reddit pages. New models and specials will show up there.
Do you feel that the S1 at $999 is worth $300 more than the eufy X10 for $699 (I have a $100 off voucher)?
It does everything better and adds detergent injection. The only downside is more maintenance. If you have mostly carpet the S1 does not make much sense.
Definitely the coolest looking robot vacuum and dock
This or Narwal Freo Z?
Have you seen my review of the Z? th-cam.com/video/TTKlSsKi19U/w-d-xo.html
@@jamie.andrews yeah but which one would you pick? I’m leaning towards the Z
@@RaytheonNublinski I steer away for this vs that situational questions without knowing someone's wants and needs. Some people hate the maintenance and lack of edge mopping with the S1 while others dislike the lack of an onboard water tank on the Freo Z.
If you are asking me what I would pick for my house the answer is neither but that does not mean I don't recommend them for other people. They are great robots.
@@jamie.andrews so what is your favorite robot? My needs are I just want the best one overall
@@RaytheonNublinski The best for me will likely not be the best for you. I save my top picks for around Black Friday. What are the most important features you are looking for? There is really not one best overall robot. They all have different pros and cons.
I think the bumper is redundant now. Looking forward to next versions dropping it and adding more battery/bin size/water storage.
That does look pretty sleek at night however I do hope they have an option to turn all those lights off.
They do turn off once it goes to sleep.
Is anyone gonna review the Roborock that drains and fills the water on its own? That’s the one that is most exciting I might have to put a review up of it when I get mine
If I had a place to hook it up I would.
@@jamie.andrewsman I wish! I haven’t seen a review of it anywhere I’m praying it’s everything I want it to be!
Jamie, backers on KS are reporting that the S1 Pro is very loud when washing the mop. Can you comment?
I did not think so.
Does it go under furniture?
It can yes as long as the furniture is not lower than the front of the robot.
Looks cool. But as a first generation model it will probably have tons of flaws.. thus far, thinking of updating my iRobot j7+ to the dreame x40
I'll have the X40 review out in June.
@@jamie.andrews awesome! Your reviews helped. You def convinced me not to buy the roborock s8 maxv ultra.
Dreame makes some very good robots, but their penchant for releasing one every three months at premium pricing is getting tired.
Any advice, except for getting rid of mirrors? ;)
What happens with your bots and floor to ceiling windows? Does putting no-go zone lines in front of them not help?
I would sound like a broken record because all robots with lidar have this issue with floor mirrors as you stated. The only ones the don't are the new Roborock S8 MaxV and QRevo MaxV. I mentioned this in the review of the S8 MaxV that I put out right before this video.
Hmmm, i've had one of the very first robots with lidar for quite a few years and it didn't have any issues with mirrors and didn't try to avoid curtains which i really liked too😊
Unfortunatelly it didn't mop and i wanted an upgrade
Nonetheless i think i'll give a try to q revo maxV if you say so 😅@@jamie.andrews
This! I think I'm switching from robo Rock after many years
I think others are too.
@@mohamedahmed1023 To note I find this to have better vacuum performance over the X10.
@14:36 - that's more like 35mm, not 10mm.
Yea

@@jamie.andrews Doc tanks, the capacity is on the low side. Or have the ability like my Dreame 30 to have it hooked up to house plumbing. That works really well!
@@LaszloBagi The clean water tank is fairly average in size it is the dirty water tank that is below average, however I feel this does not matter at all since you should really be cleaning out that tank atleast every day or 2 or it will stink so I never fill mine past 1000ml.
Just another perspective.
@@jamie.andrews I hear you, however needed to clean it every 1-2 days is backwards to my Dreame 30 which is hooked up water and a waste line.
