Hey, a little request/suggestion. When you bring up an objective number (such as carpet pickup %, or water heat) I feel the viewer isn’t getting quite enough context. What about, when you mention each of these numbers, briefly putting up a chart with a listing/ranking of robots based on these. You mention an average, which is ok, but a viewer might want to know exactly which comparable robots outperform it in that category, or which robots it outperforms. Still think you’re the best in the business. Patiently waiting for this channel to have a few hundred thousand subscribers.
Like always, a very good review. Thank for this Jamie!! And you put a smile on our face for the dance part. I will wait with my buy, until the new s9 maxv (g20s ultra) have been released.
Jamie yet again you are the best I watch every single one of your videos when considering what my next robot vac will be. I use the narwal freo X Plus and Dreame L20 Ultra and my home and I bought the L20 because of your review last Christmas. Still love it today although it's not perfect it still does a great and thorough job for my home. I don't think I am a fan of roborock their products are cool but it seems the cons outweigh the pros even at the current competition. Narwal still seems to provide the best bang for your buck for the prices you pay for them they also don't release new models all too quickly compared to dreame and roborock they take their time but I feel like when they deliver a new product they add enough new wow factors each time to make the wait worth it. Although sadly we are still not at that perfect robot vacuum with enough marketing pushes the company will eventually give us what we want. I'm still forever a narwal fan though for their price, performance, and timing release of product and having unique ideas that are different from the rest.
Roborock's biggest downfall is they have started to focus on creating more and more models instead of focusing on perfecting what they have on the market. They were a pioneer with object avoidance all the way back with the S6 MaxV, but the technology has not improved really at all which is going to cause them to lose customers. Dreame is doing it too to a lesser extent. I have shared my feeling about this with Roborock. You likely alrrady know I am a fan of Narwal. They are different and while not perfect as you mentioned there is no perfect robot yet.
Hello Jamie. Love your reviews! I have a question about roborock curve. Does it came with a camera where i can "control" and talk and ear my pets? Thank you so much.
It's amazing Roborock is still having issues with object avoidance. I love my eufy Omni S1 Pro and X10 pro which have excellent performance in this regard and I can't imagine taking a step backwards.
X10 has much better object avoidance, but its vacuum performance and the app quality is not great. I returned two X10s as a result. My 3 years old Roborock does better than X10. Eufy has good customer support and the robot does decent mopping, but I was tired of vacuuming after X10 was done.
Hi Jamie! Thank you for putting in so much effort in making a very well thought out and informative vide. I would love to see a comparison video between qrevo curve and the s8 maxv. New subscriber here, Thankyou!
Thank you for this review. I just got the curve and I’m having one issue that the swing out mop the Velcro mop head keeps falling off. I’m also very impressed though because my QRevo Master was only a month old and I called Roborock and they’re letting me return it even though it’s been used a ton and refunding it so I can get the Curv
If the entire pad disk is falling out of the robot something is wrong. I have seen it get snagged by a cord and come out otherwise it should not and especially if the Master did not since they have the same mopping system.
I got the Narwal Freo X Ultra from Costco for under 1K. It has performed exceptionally well. I saw the Freo X was just launched and will 100% get that one when it comes to Costco. It seems like it does a better job of object avoidance when compared to Roborock Vacs.

Jamie, you are the best reviewer! Can you please start to include how close mopping gets to where carpet/rug end and hard floor begins? I noticed my Curv leaves about a 2-3in space around my rugs and carpet that doesn't get mopped. Is this normal for all robot mops?
Yes this is normal for all robots sadly. It will always vary depending on the setting for carpet. If you chose "raise" it will cross the carpets but always lift the mop before the edge of the carpet. If you select "Vacuum carpet first" it will get a bit closer, however the pads are a good bit more onboard compared to the side of the robot. I have yet to see a robot be able to solve this issue and I agree it is an issue.
Hey Jamie! Thank you so much for your helpful, honest, and thorough review! I have a question-considering mostly hard floors and a long-haired dog, would you recommend the Curv or the Narwal Z? It’s a bit disappointing that the Z struggles with vacuuming dust, but it seems to excel in every other area.
If you want great object avoidance the Narwal is better. If you care more about mopping than vacuum performance get the Narwal. Otherwise the Curv is more well rounded and has a better app and less bugs.
@@jamie.andrews thanks for your answer! I think that vacuuming is more important because I have pets. Is it really worse than the Narwal in term of mopping? And could you leave some cords/stuff on the floor with Curv or is it a no go? Thanks again mate!
@@bennyisaacs6988 Roborock almost always ignores cords. Mopping is not bad on the Curv. It is just that it is really good on the Narwal. Narwal has drawbacks though. No onboard water tank and it puts down a bunch of water which may not be great for people with delicate wood floors.
Nice review Jamie, one thing, and I don’t know if this has anything to do with your voice assistant issues, but on my S8 Max V Ultra “Rocky” will get confused easily or ignore me unless I specifically use: “HELLO Rocky.” I learned early on without the full “Hello” the machine didn’t seem to recognize it as a voice command. I’m not sure if this helps or is something specific to my machine/model, thought I’d mention it.
Thanks! That kinda goes to my point though that they need to expand the vocabulary. If I have to open the app to memorize the exact commands it defeats the purpose. Also when it is not in vacuum mode and just sitting in the dock it most always responds to hey Rocky. I included that in my last Master or MaxV review. Thanks for stopping by and watching my latest video!
@@jamie.andrews Agree Jamie. While you’re at it, tell Roborock we would like more verbal commands like: “Rocky, vacuum the living room” or “Mop the bathroom.”
Love your reviews. They are so thorough but to-the-point. The Roborock lineup is getting more and more confusing. I appreciate the constant innovation but still... The voice assistant feels outdated. I'd rather they integrate with a smart home assistant (Alexa, Homekit) to handle natural language interpretation. I just don't see them getting that feature on-par with the rest. It'd also be nice if you could set an "empty dust bin" time period, or figure out a way for the robot to know when it should empty the dust bin in the middle of a run.
Ty so much! I have given Roborock the feedback that they are making too many models. To me the voice assistant is more of a gimmick at this point. Just use you own voice assistant to control it and it will work better. iRobot has a patent on a dustbin full sensor which is why no other robot can actually return to the dock when the dustbin is full. I think that patent runs out on 2026. I'll be so darn glad too.
When are these things going to detect cords reliably…? We recently purchased a MaxV Ultra and it’s astonishing how poorly it fares with certain things… One would think the top-end model (not ours, to be clear) would do everything well enough, and the only glaring drawback would be price. But unless I’m mistaken, it seems that no matter which one you choose, you’re forced to sacrifice heavily in one/more areas. That is why we went more on the mid end of things, but it seems the negatives might not be things we can live with. We also have mostly floor-to-ceiling windows and quite a few floor-to-ceiling mirrors. Combined, these result in incredibly wonky room mapping that I apparently cannot permanently alter, so I’m forced to live with a fun-house map :/. Advice welcome! Amazing channel BTW.
Not many robots can properly avoid cords. Only a handful come to mind. Go to edit the map and edit furniture then add floor mirrors anywhere there are mirrors or floor windows. You should be good after that.
If you want great mopping performance and obstacles avoidance go Eufy, if you want better carpet cleaning especially if you have pets and need the lifting chasis to clear thresholds go Roborock. Roborock has hot water mop washing and Eufy has detergent injection. Their strengths are polar opposite.
Hello and thanks for the review. Id like to ask if roborock has released an ota update to fix the obstacle avoidance issues since you performed the test? The robot failed the tests bad running into everything especially the animal waste. Thats a deal breaker.
I looked at the S1 Pro, but it did not get the stamp of approval from the wife.. X50 Ultra releases in China this week, so hopefully we can get the X40 at a good price during Black Friday 😅
Highly interested because of the adaptilift. We have dog gates, but they are 3.4cm high which is of course an impossible task for our current robot the S7 Max Ultra.
I'm not sure it will be able able to cross 3.4cm. Roborock states 3cm max unless it is a multitier threshold then it can be 4cm in total. In my video I showed it as multitier threshold. I did test a 3.5cm threshold and it was not able to cross it.
I'll have my review out for the Slim this weekend. Each have their different strengths and weaknesses. If you have carpet and pets the Curv is the one to get.
How does it perform in terms of mopping compared to Eufy S1 Pro? I understand it's impossible to beat S1 Pro at this point but has Qrevo curv managed to get closer to Eufy's performance?
The S1 Pro is one of the very best performing robots with a mop. With that said it has no edge mopping and requires more maintenance. Here is my review of the S1 so you can see the mopping test. th-cam.com/video/M41yYs6U-X8/w-d-xo.html
Hello, Thank you for everything you do. Based on your experience, cat litter pickup from the card floor was better at Roborock S8 Vmax ultra comparing to this Curve or not? The reason I am asking is because I had the S8 Vmax Ultra for a month, but they announced this one and I decided to return s8Max and got Curve. I have 50/50 carpets regular height and vinyl floors. But after having it for several days, I kind of feel, for some reason, that it does a worse job than my previous S8 Vmax Ultra on the hardwood floors especially. Im really curious what you think about it.
@@jamie.andrews Thank you for you reply. I just did a video to demostrate what concerns me, on the video you see the roborock curve performing on the smart mode on the hard floors. Great review! Very glad I saw it before buying one. I spoke have been quite upset by the crummy voice exchange - she’s like Alexa after she got stupid (after Bezos left and the new CEO decided to layoff most of the Alexa AI development team - too bad!). The mop bin was gross also. Does it help to use some of their cleaning solution vs just tap?
If you are talking about buildup in the clean water tank that has to do with your water chemistry. Filtered or bottled water is the only real solution. Some people have the problem and some don't.
Hi Jamie, I have a question. Where I live (Australia) the Q Revo Curv has not been released and is rumoured to come out in 2 months. Should I wait for the Q Revo Curv or will the S8 Max V Ultra be just as good? Thanks.
Is the Qrevo Curv's cost worth it over the Master? I don't care much for the higher lifting threshold since I don't have any thresholds in my house. Would you recommend the curv over the master?
Water usage will vary depending on these factors. 1. Total square footage of floors. 2. How often will it return to wash the mops. 3. Mop washing time setting 4. Water output setting on robot while mopping. With this said if I gave you a number of days it would be pure speculation.
In vacuum mode how well does it keep off of that quarter round molding? My current vacuum and mop rides the molding and corners scuffing them up and damaging them...
Hey Jamie, just curious, does its chassis still lift over high thresholds with the "Raised Body to Clean Carpet" under Carpet that set to OFF? Or we must enable this feature to make it work?
@@midwestzo6263 I don't have pets with long hair, but I do have 3 cats and 2 girls with long hair. I think the Curv is better for sure. No hair gets wrapped around the rollers or axles.
I have a curv and find it to be much better than the master, especially when traversing uneven surfaces. I use a floor cleaning solution and my floors are squeaky clean...literally and my pads are also clean. I preorodered my unit at the discount price plus received a military discount on top of that along with receiving a free dyad air wet dry vacuum. Its not perfect but its the best robot I've owned. When it was using the first firmware 2.18.40 it got stuck underneath my computer chair once and the voice assistant wouldn't respond unless I spoke to it in a higher pitched voice. With 2.20.40 it hasn't stuck itself like that yet and I haven't retried Rocky. Google assistant still works normally for controlling it.
Frog man, this one, the Roborock Qrevo Edge or the Roborock Qrevo Master? What's your take... looks like the Edge is just a Master with the Dock 3.0 features (hotter water? and quieter?)... and the Master has the 18500 kpa vacuum motor... what do you say frog man?
@jamieamdrews Can I empty the internal water tank of the Curv through the app or is a plug to empty it? I'm concerned about Algae growth over time. I see loads of people with Algae problems in these units.
No way to empty it. If you get buildup in the docks clean water tank it will also be in the robot. The reason why some people have it and not others is because it boils down to water quality. Use filtered water if you see buildup in the clean water tank.
On your not sponsored value proposition, then most other reviewers mention they get the vacuum for free. Then it isn't an unbiased review. So i would mention that as well to ensure all viewers remember that too - "a review is a not an unbiased review if it's paid, sponsored or the reviewer got the product for free".
Im worried about maintenance with the Eufy. Also it seems like the app is better on the Roborock and has more features. Not sure what’s worth it or gimmicky
Then put detergent on every vacuum ? The result is just better with detergent. I Saw with my curv, without the detergent it could not remove the stain good.
@@idanhakak2614 There is no way to acurartly use detergent since many robots have an internal water tank and some use detergent injection therefore I can't keep the ratio of detergent the same in each test making some unfair. Then there is the question as to which detergent to use. Some don't ship with it or even carry it. I do agree the results could be better with detergent, but the goal is not to make the results the best or I would do more than 2 passes. The goal is to make the tests as comparable as possible so you can see the difference between 2 robots.
the qrevo curv is 70% more expensive vs qrevo master in europe 1500 eur vs 875 for q revo master, my thought process was that the price point doesnt make sense would you agree Jamie?
@@jamie.andrews i understand your viewpoint and the mature and centered approach would be to wait but i didn't and went ahead and ordered anyway. are those new features actually that groundbreaking since i do not need the climbing feature anyway? sure, the extra dustbin space would've been improvement of modus vivendi don't get me wrong but for one single couple with no kids/pets? Sorry i need some reassurance that i've made the right choice LOL
Seems like the avoidance software could be easily fixed with an update. Otherwise, the voice recognition is no worse than my wife. And this one cleans significantly more often for a lower overall lifetime cost. This model is a win in my book.
@deiminator2 That is something that is hard to answer. If it were me yes as I have carpet and I love the zero tangle brush, but someone else who has no pets and no high thresholds would argue it is not and I think they are right. It comes down to if you want those features and if your budget allows for them. The Curv is better than the Master.
@@jamie.andrews ok thx for info. So when it's mapping when do it know to go back and fill up ? Or will it just continue mopping with out water !!?? Best regards Kim Kristensen
it boggles my mind that the app for this vacuum has different features than the app for the master. limiting the robots by software like that is a wildly poor choice
I’ve noticed that too, but now that I have a Qrevo Master and a Q5 Max+, a lot of the features that aren’t in the Q5 settings aren’t there just because of hardware limitations.
If object avoidance is important look at my Narwal Freo X review. It checks both of these boxes. th-cam.com/video/TTKlSsKi19U/w-d-xo.htmlsi=n-kms7Vc377nOi0m
This is my 6th Roborock. I’ve never had a unit that couldn’t return to the dock. This one fails about 1/3 times. Shuffles back and forth in front of the dock for 15 minutes and just stops. Doesn’t matter where I put it. Have cleaned the sensors. Just an absolute bust.
@ it’s on low carpet - and the same carpet that the S7, S7MaxV, S8, S8maxv ultra have all been on and while I’ve tried 3 other locations - I started it in the same spot all of those lived without issue. Might just be a defective unit 🤷🏼♂️
@@tannerfamily4152 I have heard of this happening when it is on carpet with other machines. If it happens on hard floor too you may want to contact support.
@@jamie.andrews honestly I’m gonna keep it probably. You just can’t keep up with robovacs. Like they want you to buy new every 3 months. Plus it’s a $350 dollar difference because I paid $950 for the master
Looks like a $1000 dog hair tax. Not sure it's worth it atm. If it can't even fill up it's own dust bin, they've lost the plot on air pressure dynamics. That'll double the emptying rate, making the extra suction equivalent to the rest just doing a second pass and filling the bin. One step forward. One step back. This needs a redesign.
@@shareyou3155 I appreciate the trust! I would not encourage someone to do something that would void a warranty. Also it has nothing to do with comfort. I simply don't have enough time to do my reviews much less take apart 2 robots to see if they will fit and then see if the BMS will work in the new robots. I work a full time job and do these reviews on the side so my time is very limited. Id like to ask if roborock has released an ota update to fix the obstacle avoidance issues since you performed the test? The robot failed the tests bad running into everything especially the animal waste. Thats a deal breaker.
No. This test was just run a few weeks ago and it is on the same firmware. It is slightly better on hard floor surfaces except for cords.
I bought the Eufy S1 today for $999. Hopefully I made the right decision! Mostly hard floors in my home with a few area rugs.
That is a good price. Did you see my review for it?
I looked at the S1 Pro, but it did not get the stamp of approval from the wife.. X50 Ultra releases in China this week, so hopefully we can get the X40 at a good price during Black Friday 😅
@@jamie.andrews I did!
Would you recommend the Qrevo Curv or the Qrevo Slim?
I'll have my review out for the Slim this weekend. Each have their different strengths and weaknesses. If you have carpet and pets the Curv is the one to get.
How does it perform in terms of mopping compared to Eufy S1 Pro?
I understand it's impossible to beat S1 Pro at this point but has Qrevo curv managed to get closer to Eufy's performance?
The S1 Pro is one of the very best performing robots with a mop. With that said it has no edge mopping and requires more maintenance.
Here is my review of the S1 so you can see the mopping test.

Hello,
Thank you for everything you do.
The S8 MaxV Ultra performed a bit better on hard floor surfaces in vaccum mode. It picked up 122 grams or 94%.
@@jamie.andrews Thank you for you reply. I just did a video to demostrate what concerns me, on the video you see the roborock curve performing on the smart mode on the hard floors. Is there something I can do you think to avoid this leftovers from happening?
Please let me know, it would be extremely helpful for me.

Could you do a review of the new Dreame L40 ultra?
What robot/robots do you daily drive in your home?
Lol which ever one I am testing for the upcoming review, once the review is out I move on to the next one.
Great video
Does the Curv offer the ability to save different maps? I want to be able to bring it upstairs.
Yes up to 4 levels
Thanks.
If you don't need a lifting system to clear thrusholds and don't care about having the anti-tangle system the S8 MaxV will do just fine.
Is the Qrevo Curv's cost worth it over the Master? I don't care much for the higher lifting threshold since I don't have any thresholds in my house. Would you recommend the curv over the master?
Yea if price is no bother. It has a better vacuum motor and the dock heats the water much better. The zero tangle roller is helpful as well.
How often do you have to fill the water tank if you use it light mopping every day?
Water usage will vary depending on these factors.
1. Total square footage of floors.
2. How often will it return to wash the mops.
3. Mop washing time setting
4. Water output setting on robot while mopping.
With this said if I gave you a number of days it would be pure speculation.
hi, when you test the new model Roborock G20S Ultra?
It has not been announced for the US Market.
"Hey Rocky" seems about as good as "Hey Siri".

qrevo master is $950 on amazon currently! what a steal
With this object avoidance performance, it is hardly a steal at this price
In vacuum mode how well does it keep off of that quarter round molding? My current vacuum and mop rides the molding and corners scuffing them up and damaging them...
Hey Jamie, just curious, does its chassis still lift over high thresholds with the "Raised Body to Clean Carpet" under Carpet that set to OFF? Or we must enable this feature to make it work?
Yea it does it automatically regardless of the carpet setting.
Hi Jamie, does your curve make weird noise when mop pad extend out?
No.
You think in the future a firmware update could improve the object avoidance?
Theoretically it could, but Roborock has not made much improvements to their older models so I would not bet on it.
Is the curv better than the s8 maxv? Hair is my main concern but avoiding objects with dogs and kids is needed too.
Better with hair for sure. Object avoidance is not as good though.
@ how is hair WTH the s8? I have a s7 maxv plus
Glad to hear it is working out well for you!
The object avoidance is disappointing. I wonder if I can buy the new roller and put it in my Roborock S6 Pure 🤔
The roller is only compatible with the Curv and Edge.
Thanks for the great video! May I know how does the Roborock Curv compares with the Dreame X40 Ultra Pro?
Sure. Here is my review of the X40 Ultra. Let me know if have any specific questions.

Thanks for the support!
does this robot have automatic detergent dispenser?
No but the S8 MaxV Ultra does.
How does this compare to the Eufy S1 Pro
They are so very different.
th-cam.com/video/M41yYs6U-X8/w-d-xo.html
On your not sponsored value proposition, then most other reviewers mention they get the vacuum for free. Then it isn't an unbiased review.
So i would mention that as well to ensure all viewers remember that too - "a review is a not an unbiased review if it's paid, sponsored or the reviewer got the product for free".
Would you prefer this or the Eufy S1 pro?
If you want to tell me more about your needs and floor type I can help answer. The Eufy has different strengths compared to the Curv.
I have 90% hardwood flooring with a rug under the couch in the living room but there’s still hardwood floor exposed in the living room. Just 1 pet.
Im worried about maintenance with the Eufy. Also it seems like the app is better on the Roborock and has more features. Not sure what’s worth it or gimmicky
@jamie.andrews
@@AlteredLP If you value object avoidance and excellent mopping go with the Eufy. Otherwise Roborock is better.
why don't you use the detergent in your tests?
To keep the tests equal.
Hi Jamie is there something you have in your setting to disable adapt lift? On my app it does not give me this option.
Do you mean disable it entirely? There is no way to do that.
Thanks!
Thanks for the support and for sharing! People like you are why I do what I do! Cheers!
the qrevo curv is 70% more expensive vs qrevo master in europe 1500 eur vs 875 for q revo master, my thought process was that the price point doesnt make sense would you agree Jamie?
Oh wow that is a huge difference. If it were me I would wait for it to be a littler closer in price. Here there is about a $350 price difference.
You can get 5% to 6% discount on it in Germany.
Seems like the avoidance software could be easily fixed with an update.
Otherwise, the voice recognition is no worse than my wife. And this one cleans significantly more often for a lower overall lifetime cost. This model is a win in my book.
Classic😂
They have this issue with Qrevo MaxV since January and failed to fix it completely. Don’t buy it expecting it to fix it.
Hello. I already Subcribed . 1600 sqf .all tile. no carpet. flat floor. 2 long hair girls. What do you recommended? Thank you.
What is you budget? Do you need good object avoidance?
@@jamie.andrews 1500. Yes.
The master was 800 € compared to 1000 for this one, is it worth the 200 € difference?
It is a better machine overall.
@@jamie.andrews But does it justify the 20% price difference? Does it clean and mop 20% better?
@deiminator2 That is something that is hard to answer. If it were me yes as I have carpet and I love the zero tangle brush, but someone else who has no pets and no high thresholds would argue it is not and I think they are right. It comes down to if you want those features and if your budget allows for them. The Curv is better than the Master.
Does it need a firmware update?
Guessing it’s in the pin n’ go section for dance
Hi. Do the robot have a sensor for empty water tank ??
In the dock yes. Robot no, but it fills it each time it goes back to the dock.
@@jamie.andrews ok thx for info. So when it's mapping when do it know to go back and fill up ? Or will it just continue mopping with out water !!?? Best regards Kim Kristensen
@@klk6967 You set it in the app by either room or minutes.
@@jamie.andrews ok thx quick answer and info.
it boggles my mind that the app for this vacuum has different features than the app for the master. limiting the robots by software like that is a wildly poor choice
I’ve noticed that too, but now that I have a Qrevo Master and a Q5 Max+, a lot of the features that aren’t in the Q5 settings aren’t there just because of hardware limitations.
Hey Rocky… make yet another Roborock model
😂
I want my next robot vaccum to have excellent carpet cleaning capabilities and good object avoidance. It looks like this just misses the mark.
If object avoidance is important look at my Narwal Freo X review. It checks both of these boxes. th-cam.com/video/TTKlSsKi19U/w-d-xo.htmlsi=n-kms7Vc377nOi0m
Jamie i hope you are okay. because of the hurricane🙏
Ty. It missed our area.
That is the first I have heard of that issue. Is it on carpet?
@ it’s on low carpet - and the same carpet that the S7, S7MaxV, S8, S8maxv ultra have all been on and while I’ve tried 3 other locations - I started it in the same spot all of those lived without issue.
Might just be a defective unit 🤷🏼♂️
@@tannerfamily4152 I have heard of this happening when it is on carpet with other machines. If it happens on hard floor too you may want to contact support.
I just bought the q revo master and I’m debating on returning it for the curve just for the lifting chassis alone

Can't say I disagree. The real innovation is with the lifting chasis.
Boss.. U never check if the 6400mah battery is compatible with older models.. 😂
It is not according to Roborock.
@@jamie.andrews I don't trust Roborock.. I trust u.. Lol.. U don't feel comfortable taking out the battery? 😅
