The amount of people saying it's not wireless, or that they hate using the cigarette lighter 🤦♂️ The point of being wireless is the transmitter so that you dont run wires from the camera/reverse lights all the way to the mirror itself. The cigarette lighter can be cut off and the wires tapped to any 12v source.

45 minutes...not a chance, you took apart half your car by the time you were finished. Easy for us handymen, but impossible for an amateur working alone.
If you have an auto-dimming mirror, can you just use that power source right there at the windshield? That would save a huge amount of work. Also, do the guide lines move with the steering wheel? I think not.

you could of taken the cable through the rubber conduit, it's very easy, all you need is lube and something stiff to penetrate through the hole and Bob's your uncle your through ;)

HA see that factory 2 DIN he had in his car , most likely has an input for a camera it just did not have the camera from factory installed , i have a aftermarket 2 Din player in my car that connects up to a high quality sony reverse camera all wires are hidden , also has apple connectivity for phone a microphone to answer calls via stereo , and WAZE GPS , this guy installing this is a JOKE the system he put in is a joke

Yea you can see it in the video that he was having static problems also, he just failed to mention it. You can see it at the end of the video when he's testing it out.

@@markecklund3125 There's a lot of options since many things become energized upon "ignition" power. If your vehicle has a constantly powered 12v plug, try piggybacking the ignition wire for the stereo deck.
Did you get one installed? I'm putting this on a 2010 taurus limited also. The factory cam (no longer works) is in the Ford emblem and the license plate is low on the bumper, so wondering if it's worth it.
I used to think that but population has grown... so much its needed to park your vehicle in over populated cities... i drive a 16 ft cargo van some times if lucky i got to park in 18...20 ft spots.. having one of these cams can save me a lots of stress and back and foward...
My Ford Edge has a wire harness coming out of the OEM mirror. Probably for auto dimming and the on-board compass which we don't need. So I should be able to tap into this harness to eliminate the need to use a power plug or cigarette lighter. Don't like the idea of having wires coming out of my dash. They should offer different harness plugs for different manufacturers kind of like Crutchfield does for car stereos.
i just pulled the lighter out spliced it and put it back in .....simple... you can also just go directly to your battery. The screen only engages when reversing anyways :)
Got this camera, NOT an easy task to install in a pickup truck. Wouldn’t recommend for a truck, as there are no panels/trims to remove to install the transmitter and hide the wires. Car or 4Runner, maybe. But NOT a truck.
@@Fudruckus; i bought both models the wireless and the wired the wireless one I hated it it had a big delay when you switching the reverse I have it still maybe use it on a junker car one day the wire one is much better maybe like a second or two seconds delay point in reverse

How would you power yours then? Persuade the electricity to jump to the transmitter and mirror? My wifi router has to be plugged in for power and also the connection from outside for the fibre optic cable... so is my wifi truly not wireless? My phone doesn't seem to be connected to anything as I'm writing this...

You could just cut the cig lighter end off and connect it to power and ground with your choice of splice or terminal.
They sell one that uses only wire so the cigarette lighter can be free
