I have a 1971 case 1070 . Had it for years and the clutch still catches me off guard . It's been a solid tractor until the pto quit working this year during hay season. It's nice straight solid tractor just needs paint . It's always ran like a top and starts effortless in freezing temperatures. Cheap hp can't beat it
My brother just lost the pto on his 1070 as well. He pulled off the rear pto housing and found that there is a tiny shear pin the size of a wheel bearing needle in the pto shaft. He paid $6 for the shear pin at the dealership and the tractor is back up and running.
JT what a tractor we still have two 1070s on duels from new spent many hours in cab plowing , I have overhauled the shift leavers on the power shift on both . With regular maintenance and kept in a machinery shed from the weather makes a huge difference, we added a larger air-conditioning units to both for better cooling and bigger custom radiators .Gets hot in Australia cheers, case original colour scheme looks great new just saying.

Hey JT, getting them home is always an adventure 😅 I drove my 65 F350 home exactly a year ago. No teeth on the flywheel and the starter on the floor. I only had about 10 miles to go so, don't stall it! That old case does sound pretty good. I'm sure your wife will be impressed 😁
Nice. Back in Scotland when I was a kid, we had David Brown tractors which were white and red. Case bought them over in around 1972, and for a couple of years you could buy a new tractor with either Case or David Brown on it. Just as a side note, did you know that the Aston Martin car models were named DB1 DB2 etc, the DB stood for David Brown as it was David Brown who developed the Aston Martin. So there you go, you have bought a descendant of Aston Martin.

And the reply, "A case of what?" Nice score JT. Case tractors are pretty decent machines. BUT!!!! That Versatile sure would look good sitting between the 1800 and the 1805. Or maybe an areal shot of the big three with the little brothers in the front. White over black on that Case would definitely look sharp. Gets my vote. Even though you already made up yer mind.
Man I love 70 series case tractors. They are notoriously jumpy. I’ve had 870 powershift, 970 gear drive, 1070 powershift, and 1370. All of mine were open station. Use the 970 almost daily around my machinery lot. 1370 is one of my favorite tractors I own and I love to use it. Going to paint it up like a spirit of 76? Or black knight? Could go back with desert sunset too.
They are know for that you have to be patient with them the shifter is wore once you run them they are good you have a valve you can set for power shift called vavle body also lube that cable up

And yep you might even get the other one also some day. .You know that on camera when you were trying to start the case,I could see the gears spinning inside your hat, with all the things you want to do to this tractor and maybe the next. I have 1 930 on my farm in Lovell, Wyoming and 3 930’s located at Fillmore, Utah they are great tractors. I also have my dad’s 1948 Case 1949 DC3 totally restored.
Yep, the 2470 4 wheel drive has the same trans and high range layout. I ran one pulling a Miller offset disc chopping cornstalks. Pulling a grade flame would come out the stack 16"or so. I was 18 at the time and geeking out everytime it did it.😊 AL B.
I have a Case 1270, i was told by my neighbor and friend that worked at the Case dealership in the 1970's, piull back the powershift manual to 1st, don't use the clutch to downshift to 1st, when pulling tillage tools find a gear and stick with it. He told me to change transmission oil every year if you place a ton of hours on it. This older gentleman has a 1970 Case 970 demonstrator that he bought new from that dealer and he uses this tractor on his dairy farm. , I also like the Massey Ferguson tractors, my wife's grandfather and family still uses them on their 320 acer, which was dairy now beef farm. They have 2 MF 1135, a one bought with low hours in 1973 with a new gehl 800 chopper, this tractor has 7000 hours. other one bought 12 years ago from a dealship with 6000 hours on it, a MF 1080 they bought in 1972 with low hours now has 8000, this is my favorite tractor, and they have a MF 3505 with four wheel drive that was bought new in 1984, has 6500 hours on it now, the odd ball is the Duetz 8006 that was bought new in 1978 that is used on the discbine has 8000 hours. I like your videos, keep up the good work.
Great Video, When I was a Kid, I had the Brochures for all the Case Gear, my dream tractors were the 1070 and 2470, the white paint was an error which came from the David Brown Livery, I much prefer the livery of case Tractors that preceded the white paint! Black is a great choice! if I won the lottery, I would buy a small farm and have a tractor collection, thanks for sharing
These were sold in the UK, quite a few made it to this side of the pond, I called at a farm, perhaps 300 acres to pick up all his Heston baled straw, this farmer had 4, from new, loved them, possibly its gearbox as we had nothing in the mid 70's like it
Those Cases are pretty decent tractors, my big horse at the moment is an 1175 (at least untill i get the massey 1805 i just bought home). The shifting can be very finicky on the m if they get out of adjustment, and the hydraulics will throw you for a loop the first time you use them, both top outlets go to one remote and the bottom 2 go to the other, not both on one side like normal. When you mentioned a specific color scheme, i figured either the black night or the spirit of 76.

70 series Case started the quiet cab enjoyment in 1970. Deere followed couple years later with the sound guard cab. That totaled out most of the other tractor manufacturers.
Never have seen the demonstrator paint scheme, wow, that is cool looking. That 895 I would 'kill' for, always one of my favorite machines. I want it just to have it and I live on a sailboat. :)
Awesome. Glad you made it home. Should be a real good tractor when you get everything situated. The farm I grew up around had a 2090 and two 2670s'. They were awesome tractors. Did a lot of work. Especially the two big ones, they were the heavy hitters on the farm for a long time. I enjoyed running them. The farm also had a 1070 but that was before my time. Dad said it was a good tractor. Can't wait to see the old girl painted up. That's gonna look nice.

We traded in a 1070 Case many years ago. Run fine. Case dealer even did the retrofit on the 3 speed power shift free. Hydraulic clutch was very jumpy. Dangerous backing up. Cut some off the detent springs that keep the little steel balls that caused the clutch pedal to jump when engaging. Solved the problem. Was much smoother after that.
JT we had Case . Great tractors. From the looks it needs to be cleaned out under the cab and linkage adjusted. New filters will help. The battery was a bad location. The point was if the tractor tipped over they were supposed to be spill proof. Pain to get out. We moved I over by the starter,on a hinge, to help with the service. Also shorter and closer cables. Can't wait to see the Black Knight
Hi, first time I’ve commented on a video but just wanted to say I really enjoy your channel. I hope you are able to get the 1070 fixed up. We had a 1570 at the farm I worked at as a kid and a local dealer here in town so I saw lots of them around this area. I think the demonstrator idea would be really cool!!
I've used the same tractor here in 🇦🇺 good tractor they pull well but there weak link is the transmission they let go, hence why so many in the wreckers or just parked up, as it cost more than what it's worth to fix them.

Those old tractors still have a lot of life, when there kept outside the weather makes them look worse than they are. I have a 1100 massy Ferguson that needs a paint job, i replaced injectors and pump this year, hope to paint soon, i got all new decals ready to go on.
JT my dad had a case 1070 for a while. When shifting the gear shift lever before sliding the shifter over to the other set of gears you definitely have to make sure that you are in neutral before sliding the lever over and into the next gear. They are easy to get stuck into 2 gears because of that. In fact I think I probably did that once or twice. Usually some colorful language was said after it happened. I will look forward to this project. your content is awesome. The kind of equipment I grew up with.
Hi J.T. Another great video! I know on the larger case tractors with the powershift transmission, you wanted to make sure that if you're using the pto, do not leave powershift lever in the reverse position while sitting stationary, always move the powershift lever back to forward position.Also shut the phone off anytime you travel backward (reverse). I hope that made sense, maybe somebody with a more broad of Case tractors can chime in and explain that better. I'm not a true "Case man", but I'm kind of like you, I prefer my red iron, but at the end of the day, I just love tractors.
My dad rented a 1070 open station back in the late 80s I rolled hay with it for a week while our tractor was in the shop. I liked it alot especially how the power shift would kick down when you clutched it.
I've seen that trick before that is what happens when you are trying to get stuff done and don't have time to run to the part store so in go the screws and then the battery will have connection had to do the same thing to the loader at work

Ya I remember those tractors as a kid. Dad and grandpa and uncle had a 970, 1175, and a 1370. They had a wicked clutch on them. Great old tractors for us
Grew up with these haha. Love those old tractors. Powershifts are always weird and jerky on these haha. Only thingscan think to tell you, make sure the power shift is in first before hitting the clutch because it turns out it is kind of hard on it getting crammed back to first, when, the clutch is depressed lol. Who'd a thunk it. Be very careful the ranges are in neutral before letting off clutch. That nearly killed me when I was a kid. Oh and if running an auger with it or the like, make sure the power shift lever isn't left in reverse, or it will burn up something in the transmission.
I love the sound of these higher idling inline-6's, especially the older John Deere's from the same era. CASE, John Deere and Massey Ferguson are pretty much the top three tractor makes the farmers run in my area. Not as many new Massey Ferguson's but a lot of old one's similar to yours. There are some New Hollands here and there and some old Fords.
JT, had an 870,970,1070,1175,1270,1370, never did get a 1570, but have a 2470 now. That's just how a Case shift. Can't be gentle moving that shift lever. They like to bind if you're gentle. Also on the power shift to down shift just tap the clutch and it will down shift. No need to use your hand if you're busy with hydraulic lever or 3 point. Excellent for bailing hay because of that.

I no them case like the back of my hand i ran all them brands of tractors read ypur manual i had a1978 from just about new and the case guy should me how to keep the power adjusted and lube up and changed anti freeze one a year and the water filter twice a year that is a earlyer one it may not have a water filter on it also never run your pto with one of them stuck in R or agear stationary put in park aso make sure you come to a stand still when puting in park
Excellent Video JT :) also would put grey or black bottle of STP total treatment of fuel injection and carb cleaner in plus 200 ml of GM Automatic transmission in Desiel fuel tank and do monthly to help out fuel system plus engine to run smoothly! May smoke bit on cold but stop when warm up clear to also keep fuel injection pump plus injectors clean to! Plus save replacing fuel filters and lines to in future too and be amazed too ! Keep battery and generator or alternator clean on terminals to! Squirt The Key Ingition Switch too on teeth hole every 30 days and watch for clutch pedal spring too also lube up to ! Start up tractor every 5 days to for 30 min to 1 hour keep battery top up charge to ! Also keep eye on Netural Safety Switch near brakes cup pot on left side on to ! Keep the Tractor in good condition too!

Looks to be a straight old beast. Case 70 series tractors are good old tractors but the shift linkage gets worn and sloppy making them hard to shift.

JT we had Case . Great tractors. From the looks it needs to be cleaned out under the cab and linkage adjusted. New filters will help. The battery was a bad location. The point was if the tractor tipped over they were supposed to be spill proof. Pain to get out. We moved I over by the starter,on a hinge, to help with the service. Also shorter and closer cables. Can't wait to see the Black Knight

I hope you are able to get the 1070 fixed up. We had a 1570 at the farm I worked at as a kid and a local dealer here in town so I saw lots of them around this area. I think the demonstrator idea would be really cool!!

I've used the same tractor here in 🇦🇺 good tractor they pull well but there weak link is the transmission they let go, hence why so many in the wreckers or just parked up, as it cost more than what it's worth to fix them.

Those old tractors still have a lot of life, when there kept outside the weather makes them look worse than they are.
I have a 1100 massy Ferguson that needs a paint job, i replaced injectors and pump this year, hope to paint soon, i got all new decals ready to go on.

JT my dad had a case 1070 for a while. When shifting the gear shift lever before sliding the shifter over to the other set of gears you definitely have to make sure that you are in neutral before sliding the lever over and into the next gear. They are easy to get stuck into 2 gears because of that. In fact I think I probably did that once or twice. Usually some colorful language was said after it happened. I will look forward to this project. your content is awesome. The kind of equipment I grew up with.

Hi J.T. Another great video! I know on the larger case tractors with the powershift transmission, you wanted to make sure that if you're using the pto, do not leave powershift lever in the reverse position while sitting stationary, always move the powershift lever back to forward position.Also shut the phone off anytime you travel backward (reverse). I hope that made sense, maybe somebody with a more broad of Case tractors can chime in and explain that better. I'm not a true "Case man", but I'm kind of like you, I prefer my red iron, but at the end of the day, I just love tractors.

My dad rented a 1070 open station back in the late 80s I rolled hay with it for a week while our tractor was in the shop. I liked it alot especially how the power shift would kick down when you clutched it.

I've seen that trick before that is what happens when you are trying to get stuff done and don't have time to run to the part store so in go the screws and then the battery will have connection had to do the same thing to the loader at work

Ya I remember those tractors as a kid. Dad and grandpa and uncle had a 970, 1175, and a 1370. They had a wicked clutch on them. Great old tractors for us
Yes! This clutch system is not for the faint of heart lol
Grew up with these haha. Love those old tractors. Powershifts are always weird and jerky on these haha. Only thingscan think to tell you, make sure the power shift is in first before hitting the clutch because it turns out it is kind of hard on it getting crammed back to first, when, the clutch is depressed lol. Who'd a thunk it. Be very careful the ranges are in neutral before letting off clutch. That nearly killed me when I was a kid. Oh and if running an auger with it or the like, make sure the power shift lever isn't left in reverse, or it will burn up something in the transmission.

I love the sound of these higher idling inline-6's, especially the older John Deere's from the same era. CASE, John Deere and Massey Ferguson are pretty much the top three tractor makes the farmers run in my area. Not as many new Massey Ferguson's but a lot of old one's similar to yours. There are some New Hollands here and there and some old Fords.

JT, had an 870,970,1070,1175,1270,1370, never did get a 1570, but have a 2470 now. That's just how a Case shift. Can't be gentle moving that shift lever. They like to bind if you're gentle. Also on the power shift to down shift just tap the clutch and it will down shift. No need to use your hand if you're busy with hydraulic lever or 3 point. Excellent for bailing hay because of that.

I no them case like the back of my hand i ran all them brands of tractors read ypur manual i had a1978 from just about new and the case guy should me how to keep the power adjusted and lube up and changed anti freeze one a year and the water filter twice a year that is a earlyer one it may not have a water filter on it also never run your pto with one of them stuck in R or agear stationary put in park aso make sure you come to a stand still when puting in park

Excellent Video JT :) also would put grey or black bottle of STP total treatment of fuel injection and carb cleaner in plus 200 ml of GM Automatic transmission in Desiel fuel tank and do monthly to help out fuel system plus engine to run smoothly! May smoke bit on cold but stop when warm up clear to also keep fuel injection pump plus injectors clean to! Plus save replacing fuel filters and lines to in future too and be amazed too ! Keep battery and generator or alternator clean on terminals to! Squirt The Key Ingition Switch too on teeth hole every 30 days and watch for clutch pedal spring too also lube up to ! Start up tractor every 5 days to for 30 min to 1 hour keep battery top up charge to ! Also keep eye on Netural Safety Switch near brakes cup pot on left side on to ! Keep the Tractor in good condition too!
