My husband is a compulsive ‘neatnit’. I am not. I’ve worked almost all my life. I am 70 yrs young and disabled and housebound. I recently sold some property. I looked around and knew there was something I could do beside laying in bed. I always had a housekeeper while working so now we are stuck with a messy house. I always sewed for my daughter and myself - everything from play clothes to evening gowns. I have a collection of old sewing machines but with the new computerized embroidery machines they would do most of the work. I forgot, I’m a diabetic and have lost most feeling in my hands. We have 2 new children hospitals and a homeless women’s shelter. I decided I would use my money and make quilts for the women and children at no charge - I.e. non-profit. I now have a fabric stash in two rooms. I can make panel quilts easily so I have panels, batting, backing, etc. in every room. I need some suggestions so I can sort, store, and work on my quilts. I’ve tried Japanize solution but that did no good. My hubby wants to lump it altogether. I keep telling him you have to get it out in open so you can organize like with like. Any suggestions you may have for organizing my stash room and my sewing room would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading this. JZSherlock@live.com

I make a lot of compartments too as I have found that sorting out your laundry beforehand actually saves you A LOT of time when you need to put them into the washing machine (temperature, number of cycles...) and you don't have to guess if something was forgotten in the bottom of your basket:
    - whites
    - colours
    - darks
    - beddings & towels
    - knits & delicates
    - very dirty fabric (the ones I use for cleaning my floors and house)
But I think after this video, I will do a separate space for socks too! Lol.
    Great DIY btw, Dani! 😄

Yes, laundry to me is very very personal. No stain is to great or small! My pre-treat game is on 🔥 with my homemade concoction to battle the "war of stains". I even separate my colors. Greens reds yellows/beiges, well you get the picture!😏. Admittedly I have issues! But it could be worse☺. Nothing beats a fresh smelling stain free warm load of laundry. Neatly folded, stacked accordingly, ready to be put away. Ahhhhhh!

My approach to laundry is this: I only do it once a week to keep from having to put clothes away multiple times (like every day would just put me off laundry for life). I used this method when raising 3 teenagers on my own and working full time. Whites first, because that is when the water is the hottest; then medium colors; then darks; folding each load as it came out of the dryer. Then we would do our sheets while we folded the last load and put their stuff away. Typically 10 total loads, but done for the week.

I have triple sorters x2: whites, lights (and colors), darks, jeans, delicates, and sheets.. there is a separate one for towels in the bathroom, and reds don't get washed until there's enough for a full load. Also, my closet has become so full of my favorite color (purple) that there's usually a load of just those as well.

Can you do a video about making a laundry chute where the top part of the chute is a pull out cabinet similar to what you created here? I have seen a lot of images and videos of the completed product, but none on how to. Btw, I love your channel: I love your fun quirky sense of humor, while still making the videos super informative. I had 6 kids, and I just threw all the laundry in together with a Colour Catcher cloth..it would have been a taken far to long each day to divide it all! I did lose a ton of socks though..😁 😁
