I would love a "Basic DIY Equipment List" and/or a "Prepare your DIY Space" video. I am in a tiny apartment with really no outdoor space to work, but I would love to do more hard-core DIY projects. But I am not sure what equipment to even invest in. So far they have used a drill, an electronic screwdriver (same thing?), a miter saw, a vinal printer, etc. It's a lot and not everything can be done just like at my kitchen table. Or maybe they can, I am just not sure. Some help on how to get started would be greatly appreciated! Love you guys!
Yes a drill and an electric screwdriver are the same tool!! It just depends what drill bit you put on (some are made to drill a hole, some are just screwdriver tips) but it’s one of the first things I would get because it’s so helpful in anything wood diy or even just putting furniture together quickly! And helps with hanging things on walls 🤪
I don't have tons of tools, but I have enough to do almost anything I need to do. How I got started was actually making and fixing things. As I did projects, I bought a tool here and there that I needed to complete the project I was doing. Slowly I have built up a decent collection. Another thing I've done is just what you're doing now -- watching TH-cam videos of projects you would like to do. What tool do you see being used over and over on lots of different projects, that there's really not any way to do the thing without it? I think a drill is a great place to start. Those things are so handy for so many different things. But they're only useful if you have the right bit for the job you need, so get a basic set of drill bits as well, and make sure you have some screwdriver bits too - there are a ton of different screw heads, but if you have a flat and a Phillips (the plus sign), you can do most things, at least in the US. Also, if you're doing things at you kitchen table, you probably want a sturdy cover of some kind to use as a work surface - like a piece of plywood - so you can hammer, paint, drop things, whatever, without scarring your table.

Renee Diprose That applies to all renters in all countries. You must return your rental in the same condition as it was rented to you. That being said, I’ve always hung photos & shelving & I’ve moved a lot/rented a ton since I was 16. You just need spackle to fill holes, when dry, hit it with sanding paper to smooth it out, then touch it up with paint which my landlord has always supplied a small container of unless the walls were just white. The walls will be returned to the condition they were rented to you in and you will have enjoyed your rental much more having actually lived in it!! Cheers!
For the house sign, if you purchase Pebeo porcelain paints you can paint the tiles and bake in the oven with whatever design you want before gluing the tiles to the wood! Gives a nice personal or a very handmade touch.

That’s an easy fix if you use transfer paper :) I was a bit confused as to why the vinyl got attached to the mat. You normally leave the backing on, because the mat is already sticky. Once you cut your design you weed away the parts that you don’t need and use transfer tape to line your design perfectly ;)

HI! Just a safety tip here: at about 8:20 you're using a circular saw with the blade WAY more out than it has to be!!! You should always set the blade to come out only as much as the thickness of whatever you're cutting!!!! Please be safe
For the shoe tree, you could add some Velcro command hooks to the back mdf board and the wall (this wouldn't work on brick walls though). I've done that in the past and they hold pretty well.
For the house numbers you could also buy them from Home Depot and glue them on. Orrrr fabric stores often sell sticky numbers but they won’t be weather proof
Okay but that first one as an advent calander omg! I’m filing that away for when I have kids. Imagine how excited they would be to have a little treat in each box or a small craft project (diy ornament?!) or activity (baking cookies). So cute!

Nice ladies, I loved the house number, it turned out very chic. I totally loved the IKEA cabinet makeover, that one was awesome. The shoe tree was also pretty neat. Thanks again this was a fun video.
that shoe tree is actually really cute!! i could see that being a cute diy cat tree or bookshelf, plus you could probably use some picture hanging strips from command to help secure it to the wall without drilling holes.
On the house number plate, if you only have black craft paint you can use an outdoor shellac over top. Plus I would use some type of sealant over the numbers. Not sure what would work over tile, or place it somewhere where it’s less exposed to weather.
Yeah... but you also can’t make a shoe tree like that well without a consistent angled cut. I love every DIY you do! I have been following you for some years now, and you have inspired me to change the style of my house multiple times. Gracias!
For the tile house number sign, you should use a sealant on the entire backside of the tiles so the clay can't absorb any moisture. If they absorb any water and it the weather is below freezing the tile can crack from the ice expanding inside it. I've had a few ceramic pots crumble because of that in the winter. Of course this only applies if it gets cold where you live, otherwise its all good and doesn't matter.
The tree stand - you can do it without the backing piece if you drill holes and use dowels and wood glue. The Moppe upgrade is my favorite to date! I actually just ordered 3 of them, as a result, to store our vitamins and prescriptions in our pantry and I obviously have to use your hack to upgrade them. Thank you!
If you go to Home Depot or other hardware stores, they often provide services like that for a small charge or even free if it’s not a big job. So I’m sure you can get all the pieces drilled for cheap once you have it all measured out!
@@jovannakrukow5806 ok didn't know. In my country they only offer to cut huge pieces at the store (no home depot here), so not even standard 3m long wooden logs... not to mention angle cuts XD
Have you ladies ever used transfer tape to transfer for your stickers? It makes applying little designs like the No. symbol or really large and intricate stickers like the rose driver super easy and quick!
The shoe tree is my favorite! I have a small space right behind our door that's PERFECT for shoe storage! I was just hesitant to use the ugly dollar store hanging shoe storage. (That was kind of long lol) This is PERFECT 😍
We are so 20st century to say software and not even bat an eyelid. I didn’t even click on till they said ‘you going to download software to your shelf’ 😂
If you put a small base on the tree it might only need a few command strips to stay against the wall? That is renter friendly in places where they dont allow drilling
I love the shoe tree and I think I have an idea on how to make it free standing? Understandably, you would have to make the base really wide, so the tree wouldn't topple over. So what if you make the base one large, thick piece of wood, as if it were a deck or a platform. So instead of stepping over it when you walk into the door, you would step onto it, walk across it, then step off. I don't really know how else to describe what I am picturing. I guess It would be a really large "L" shape. The tree would stand on one side of the corridor, and the bottom of it would be drilled into a large, heavy piece of wood that is the same wide, but also extends out really long. That piece of wood would span all the way to the other side of the corridor, having it touch the other wall. Not only would this create a tight fit, but it would kind of look like a built in? I feel like if the angle was set up correctly, nothing would wobble. But again, this is just an idea and I have NO clue if it would work. Also, since it is an apartment, maintenance might not know to step up, and could trip, creating a whole new set of problems! Either way that shoe tree is an amazing solution, it holds tons of shoes and it can be customized to fit men's shoes (many shoe stands aren't even large enough to fit men's shoes)! Filling holes in the wall is pretty easy too. I own an apartment and I get everything cut at the hardware store before bringing it home, its great since it is usually a free service. I have done a lot of projects that do not feel "apartment" friendly but it is always worth the effort.
The apothecary drawers are super cute! I probably would use a different hanging method tho. That teeny piece of wood at the top can't support the whole unit itself, especially once it's full of stuffs. :)
Definitely should have stained all of the first one so that you can keep moving drawers around in the future but also just cos it looks more complete and you might see the unfinished bits when you open the drawers...other than that though I am obsessed with this and will probably do it aha
For the shoe tree - makeover an old bookcase. Remove all the shelves and just use the outer frame, Adding the trunk and branches inside. That would be pretty sturdy and freestanding.
The hanging shelf/tiny drawers needs a brace below - perhaps you could use a half dowel screwed into the wall - just in case the weight becomes too much :)
Yep, that's definitely falling down as soon as anything heavier than feathers and plastic plants are put in, and it could hurt someone in the process. They need to use cabinet hanging or shelf hanging techniques instead when they do diys like this.
If someone really wanted to hang that I would’ve recommended removing the drawers and drilling through the back. Then you could screw it into the stud. I know they can’t do that for their reveal/example but I think informing people how to properly hang it for its intended use would be a good idea.
Were you able to find out what color they used? I want to do the same project and I know they used a Minwax gel stain and I’m guessing it’s the chestnut color, but I’m not 100% certain
Seems like the top back edge of the apothecary shelving is not sturdy enough to hang this heavy of a unit (especially filled with stuff) so I suggest gluing a strip of wood along that edge and then screwing it in.
i looove everything u guys do and i also love when english speaking youtubers try to pronounce swedish ikea-names. as a swede i find it so funny and cute and no one knows theyre real names (moppe means moped like the vehicle, but mostly the names are just names of different swedish towns etc) i have one, as do probably every swede lmao, and its...a bit....ugly. didnt even think about staining it! looks amazing
hey pro tip! if you dont want your wood to split while you were cutting the back of the placement for the number back board - use painters tape over the line your cutting and cut over it and bam no splitting

I did a very similar transformation of that IKEA shelf for my tools at the beginning of the year, and will probably make more
I've had 2 moppes sitting in my spare room trying to figure put what to do with them. I also dont have storage for my oils etc! thank you!!! Love all these diys and love your videos!!!
I am OCD and that half stain job was driving me crazy
Mala Robinson The uneven numbers on the subway tiles 🙈🤯
And spelling serum wrong.

The Chronicles of Lis it’s really, I promise you, REALLY not that serious.
Me too!😱
Looking forward to watch this new episode! One question: have you talked about the electric saws you use? I'd be interested to learn more. Thanks and hi from Ottawa!
The Moppe upgrade is my favorite to date! I actually just ordered 3 of them, as a result, to store our vitamins and prescriptions in our pantry and I obviously have to use your hack to upgrade them. Thank you!
The tile thing was legit too. Our house number is 1, so anything with just the number looks bland. “1” Using “No 1” is somehow classier, lol.
These are soooooo good!! Definitely doing the house numbers and apothecary storage
for the shoe tree, might be able to convert it to a door hanger? Not sure if shoes would fly off but it might work
Good luck to third requester to cut wood in angle without special tool XD
If you go to Home Depot or other hardware stores, they often provide services like that for a small charge or even free if it’s not a big job. So I’m sure you can get all the pieces drilled for cheap once you have it all measured out!
You can rent equipment in homedepot too, but for newbs i'd too reccomend ask for cutting service
@@jovannakrukow5806 ok didn't know. In my country they only offer to cut huge pieces at the store (no home depot here), so not even standard 3m long wooden logs... not to mention angle cuts XD
A standard wood saw and a mitre box will do it. You don't need a huge mitre saw like they used.
@@ReaperUnreal never seen such big mitre box that would fit this. Then again, i never rly looked hard.
love it, I would do some painting since I am having a hard time breathing around the varnish. but love the witchy theme
Would you guys do a ladder shelf?? I've been trying to do one for ages but can never get it quite right!
omgggg that first diy is ADORABLE and exactly my vibe!! i must attempt!
What a great idea lived the shoe tree project!!!😊
Have you ladies ever used transfer tape to transfer for your stickers? It makes applying little designs like the No. symbol or really large and intricate stickers like the rose driver super easy and quick!
The shoe tree is my favorite! I have a small space right behind our door that's PERFECT for shoe storage! I was just hesitant to use the ugly dollar store hanging shoe storage. (That was kind of long lol) This is PERFECT 😍
We are so 20st century to say software and not even bat an eyelid. I didn’t even click on till they said ‘you going to download software to your shelf’ 😂
It's 21st.
Monika Keser I don’t have a clue why I put 20st HAHA thanks!
CydnieBenbow X Your brain software was a little glitchy?
Also with the wood shoe tree you could probably use command Velcro strips to attach it to the wall so it doesn’t tip over
I love the shoe tree. For me, it would be a book tree.
I think the apothecary drawers might be my favourite sorrygirls diy yet. So cool!
Loved the first project you did...love it for office storage and decor!
You should do DIY Christmas gifts people actually want and will use
ughhh you guys are amazingly talented
You can have the base as a cinder block, if walls are an issue. The cinder block is heavy enough to hold a lot of weight and it is just shoes.
You can use velcro sticky strips to help secure it to the wall without drilling holes!
You guys are so creative! I loved all 3 diys. 😄
The apothecary drawers are super cute! I probably would use a different hanging method tho. That teeny piece of wood at the top can't support the whole unit itself, especially once it's full of stuffs. :)
Absolutely love the witchy drawers 😍
Sure let me get out all of my saws

I looooove the DIY Ikea hack, I want to make this for all my makeup! thanks!
The title has me dead, I love it. It's so chill lmao
That would be pretty sturdy and freestanding.
idk why but this video just looks so particularly sharp and crispy and the beginning with becky and kelsey in front of that background looks so good
Love love love the apothecary cupboard!!!
The hanging shelf/tiny drawers needs a brace below - perhaps you could use a half dowel screwed into the wall - just in case the weight becomes too much :)
I’m loving to apothecary draw hack. Plz, plz let me know what colour and type of stain you used? Or does anyone have any idea too ?
The number sign turned out amazing! I loved it. So happy to know that the tiles can be as cheap as 30¢ each.
For the first DIY I don’t think those little hanging hardware pieces would hold up once the unit was filled or if you wanted to put glassware on it.
What color gel stain did you use for the cabinet? I just bought my Ikea Moppes today. ❤️
Were you able to find out what color they used? I want to do the same project and I know they used a Minwax gel stain and I’m guessing it’s the chestnut color, but I’m not 100% certain
To hang it on the wall you could look into different sticky wall hook things as long as it’s not too heavy.
Yesss the house number is definitely something I needed!
Seems like the top back edge of the apothecary shelving is not sturdy enough to hang this heavy of a unit (especially filled with stuff) so I suggest gluing a strip of wood along that edge and then screwing it in.
OMG loved the MOPPE hack! Do you have anh DIY with Moppe for making a center table?
Get the original apothecary table from yore at pottery barn!
i looove everything u guys do and i also love when english speaking youtubers try to pronounce swedish ikea-names. as a swede i find it so funny and cute and no one knows theyre real names (moppe means moped like the vehicle, but mostly the names are just names of different swedish towns etc) i have one, as do probably every swede lmao, and its...a bit....ugly. didnt even think about staining it! looks amazing
All of these are soooooo good. Obsessed.
hey pro tip! if you dont want your wood to split while you were cutting the back of the placement for the number back board - use painters tape over the line your cutting and cut over it and bam no splitting
