  • Watch our full review of the Playseat Trophy - Logitech G Edition, the latest sim racing cockpit.
    A collaboration between Playseat, a sim racing manufacturer, and Logitech, a video game and sim racing peripheral manufacturer, has created something based upon the initial 2022 Trophy design, but updated for 2023 with new colours and materials.
    Unveiled in September 2022, the Logitech G Edition is a lightweight, easy-to-build cockpit with an integrated Actifit seat. Here we discuss its build process, its ergonomics and if it can withstand the forces from a direct drive wheel base and load cell pedals.
    Is this the right cockpit for you, and how does it stack up against the competition? Watch the video to find out, and let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
    Full disclosure: This product was loaned by the manufacturer for review purposes.

    I've been rocking one of these since April last year and I'm extremely happy with it. It's got an SC2 Pro and HE Sprint pedals mounted to it, plus the HE Handbrake, HE sequential shifter and a Streamdeck mounted to the optional gear/handbrake plate.
    It's extremely solid and extremely comfortable.

      @@torbinzix1 It's a lot more GT than F1. You can go someway to getting the F1 position by raising the pedal deck and lowering the rear of the seat, but you're not going to get all the way there.

    I have just bought the black one and first impressions are pretty good. Coming from a Playseat Evolution the upgrade is significant. I wanted something sturdy but with a small footprint and for that reason I went with the Trophy.
    It was pretty easy to build and set up to my liking but it's not ideal if you want to adjust it for multiple users on a regular basis. Also I have a T818 and although mounting it with two bolt seems good enough for now it's certainly not ideal. My Fanatec CLS Elite pedal set was pretty easy to mount and the footplate feels very solid. I have my shifter mounted on a low table next to me so the lack of a mounting plate for that was not a big issue.
    The seat is comfortable and the seating position feels great to me although if you don't like the feeling of sitting really low in a car it might be not for you. But to me it feels like they really thought about how to transfer the feel of sitting in a racecar as close as possible.
    I also was surprised by just how much of a difference It made in terms of FFB detail. The Evolution had so much play everywhere that a lot of forces just were not transferred to my hands. I'm sure there are even sturdier rigs out there but this thing really exceeded my expectation on that front. It's a really well designed rig and it also looks pretty sleek.
    Make sure to look out for discounts though because at full MSRP it is somewhat too expensive IMO. But if you can get it at sub 500€ it is worth it.

    You said the base transmit vibration into the frame to the floor, right ?
    It possible to squeeze between the base and the rig, some gummy foam material like the gum pads, we put under the feet of a washing machine… to reduced or eliminate those vibrations ?? Or those vibrations are interesting for immersion ?

    • @TraxionGG
      @TraxionGG  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think you could definitely put these pads under the rig itself to help stop vibrations transmitting to the floor, however not between the wheel base and the rig itself without introducing some flex. Most of the vibrations were from the Logitech G-Pro 'true-force' vibrations, when we tried the Fanatec and Thrustmaster its was much quieter.

    Terrible driving experience unless you never move up or down with the wheel during hard driving....which everyone does. Until they fix the wheel mount issue, this is just a bad purchase overall unless you're doing some weird casual driving with no FFB at all. The simple fix would have been a set bolt on the deck place through the top cross bar to force it stationary or replace the top crossbar with a flat stock for solid mounting.

  • @UberSynth
    @UberSynth ปีที่แล้ว

    First of all.. too expensive, I see the flex when using, the seat can’t be that comfortable if it isn’t really a seat as such especially when using for hours at a time. It seems more like a hammock type design and for the price of £529 is way too expensive. There is better racing sim cockpits with real seats out there at a lower price. The version in the black colour with the exact same design is cheaper, you can’t really fold it away or hide it away when not in use. Which is very annoying. The steering wheel and pedal board adds weight to the playseat so moving it around isn’t ideal with the devices connected and their choice of micro USB instead of USB C is a mistake for the steering wheel and pedal board connections. No real easy adjustments on the fly is crazy. I don’t personally think it’s a good design where you need to use an hexagonal key to make adjustments to fit the player’s comfort at that particular time. 🤔

      Yeah, you can't fold this, just like almost every cockpit out there. Cockpits that fold show lots of flex. The amount of flex is very low and acceptable for this price point.
