Next Level Racing GTLite Pro - Can It Handle Direct Drive?

  • เผยแพร่เมื่อ 16 ส.ค. 2024
  • Can a folding, portable, sim racing cockpit really handle direct drive wheel bases?
    Watch our hands-on impressions of the new Next Level Racing GTLite Pro, which is available now for $299/€329/£279/$499(AUD).
    It promises a more study and rigid performance when compared to the existing GTLite, thanks in part two two additional straps. There's also an all-new seat design, wider pedal plate and additional wheel base mounting options.
    The idea is that once you've finished your sim racing session, you can fold down the cockpit and place it elsewhere, or be able to move it to another location without too much faff - its assembly is tool free.
    The Next Level Racing GTLite Pro was released today, 12th July 2023.
    Let us know your thoughts in the comments below - is this a true competitor to the likes of Playseat?

      Yea, and I bought it. Odd that I have almost no wobble in the wheel deck. Mine is much more solid than yours, quality control or assembly I don't know. The price was so low that it was worth a shot and it worked out great for me.

    the problem with the wheel deck is because of it beeing so far forward if it’s in the middel the flex is way less

    This is probably one of the best reviews I’ve seen in a while. You get a very real sense for what it would be like to buy, set up, and live with this in your home. Looking forward to your future vids!

      How feasible for folding into a cupboard every night? This video didn't show it folding much at all? Seen others it's almost fully closed

    I have the GT lite… and I can see that they’ve made some big improvements to the seat itself with more cushioning and bolstering and fair bit more support, one thing I find lacking in mine is the lumbar support. Got my secondhand and it was already built, although it was missing the plate for the shifter, so I just made my own.. overall, next level racing builds a high-quality product, especially for the price… would I like a big chunky profile rig ? yes of course … but I need to fold mine away underneath my desk and I am able to do it. I’ve got a thrust, master T 300 Ferrari Alcantara, edition and the thrush TH8A shifter. I’ve done some customising to my rig, adding extra amounts for a THRUSTMASTER HOTAS , all I have to do is pop out the shifter and swap over the throttle and it works quite well. Also, I’ve put the whole set up on a rolling platform, which allows me to roll it anywhere. I need to still maintain the ability to fold it away underneath my desk. I’m in the midst of adding 4 tactile transducers. With some 3-D printed mounts that I made, and the whole thing is neatly wire managed so that I can plug everything into a single umbilical cord, and when I disconnected, I can roll it into another room if I need to without wires everywhere, it’s really starting to come together and I’m quite happy with The overall set up?.
    One thing I will mention is that I’m 6’5” and nearly 300lbs Or 135 kg and I have no issues with flexibility or at least nowhere near the issues that you guys were having with the wheel deck. I feel like with a bit of tuning that this should be possible with the GT lite pro. As well… I realise that that Logitech wheel might be a bit heavier than my T300 But mine is pretty solid…
    Good review guys, well done … Are these Sim rigs Perfect? of course not But until someone comes up with a profile rig that is collapsible or portable and is able to tuck away when not in use then I think this is an industry leader, definitely stronger than the PLAYSEAT CHALLENGE In my opinion

      I also have the GT-Lite (I love it!), and the pro seat does look improved. However, other than that, it looks like I can just modify mine with a couple added straps and achieve similar results. Good to know.

    i would like to see more tough testings for pedals, because i did get fgt lite myself and had to sell it because it was very uncomfortable and the pressing on the brake hard would lift up the chair. you said that the brake mount is fine but i still cant quite shake the doubt off.

    • @TraxionGG
      @TraxionGG  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, thanks for the comment. In the testing we have done since this video, the pedal attachment has been absolutely fine even at higher brake forces. Of course if you threw some hydraulic pedals or a high end load cell on that might change things, but no concerns from us while using the pedals with the G-pro pedals with or without shoes

    • @ethanwan7653
      @ethanwan7653 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The reason the chair lifted up is because that the mount to the brakes and the chair with the fgt lite is using a plastic piece. While the gt lite pro is one solid metal piece.

  • @tarushdei
    @tarushdei ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I got the GT-Lite last year to go with my Thrustmaster TMX. I'm nervous about upgrading to DD and load cell pedals, but I'm heavy enough that even under hard breaking with the conical brake mod on thy T3PA pedals, the seat doesn't lift.
    For this, the price seems a bit high. You might as well just go for a profile rig if you have the space. I wouldn't recommend the GT-Lite.
    I would like NLR to offer a mod for the GT-Lite like this pedal plate, to avoid the lifting issue.

    • @RichyPink
      @RichyPink ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i think the whole FGT-Lite cant handle a DD is very exaggerated. I own an FGT-Lite and have had a load cell since i bought it and it has never given me any problems, i am able to brake consistently without to much flexing, recently i upgraded to a DD and havent ran into any problems. Granted its a CSL DD which only has 5nm of torque but its been fine and i have been able to enjoy simracing to a whole new level. Not only that but i also changed into the CSL Pedals with the Load Cell and people complain how "stiff" the break is, and again i havent ran into any problems with the FGT-Lite not being able to handle the torque of the wheel or my footwork.
      The only time ive had some amount of "flexing" has been doing drifting with it, but its been very minor and dont really take away or break the immersion, Hope this helps. Because again, as long as you tight everything correctly, i think the whole "flexing" allegations have been overly exaggerated.
      Edit: I will like to add to this, that maybe the reason why i have never had any problems braking or with my footwork, might be because the pedal rest of the FGT-Lite does rest in front of a wall, when i finished writing this comment, i started to think if this could influence how well the pedal rest works compared to one that doesnt have any support behind it. Again i havent ran into any problems, but the variable as for why, might be that wall providing support for it. Again hope this helps.

    Great review. Thx. But how is it to fold up? How much space does it take up? Kind of the main selling point of a “foldable” rig 😅

  • @aarongreen121
    @aarongreen121 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Are you able to adjust the back of the seat to sit further forward, as opposed to moving the steering wheel plate towards you? I'm on the fence as to whether to get one but don't want flexing to knacker a bright, shiny new DD wheel.

    9:24, total novice here. so everything i say with a rock of salt.
    But i notice many other (presumably budget oriented) shifters seem to be table edge clamp mounting style. and that in mind, they hang off of the back of the mount plate, placing them significantly closer to you.
    While it is compatible with your nicer shifter box, it seems to be targeted at cheaper sim gear. being itself one of the cheapest rig options out there.

    • @TraxionGG
      @TraxionGG  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good observation there, and yes it should work with a clamp style shifter, and as you say be closer to an ideal shifting position.

    I like that the breathable seat. But the scratches off of the box, useage of plastic, and wobley components all over really makes it kinda sad for $300. I understand its portable but man this thing looks disapointing :/ I mean I've had a better experience with a $150 ebay rig. Are there any other options for a foldable rig that aren't as poorly designed?

  • @miketrbn
    @miketrbn 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Hi, that's an excellent presentation for a racing sim beginner like me. Do you think the racing wheel flex problem could be solved in a custom made way? I have never played on a racing sim before, but i had the thought, that if there was a thin metallic/aluminum bar attached from the bottom of the wheel to the floor (assuming it passes through your legs) it would make it a lot steadier. Do you think that would work out?

    • @psycho42069
      @psycho42069 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I literally just watched another review of this product and in the comments a guy had a similar idea. He used two lengths of 1" x .5" wood. He rounded in each end to fit the tubes and wedged them on either side (next to where the straps attatch) between the upper and lower tubes. Even used another ratchet strap to tension the tubes together with the wooden struts adding tons of strength and mitigating most of the flex.

    I just went from an F-GT lite to a GT - Track. Why? I put a Moza R5 wheel on and the flex on the lite is nuts, I could manage it but really felt it. No matter how much better the pro is….it’s still a lightweight tube frame.
    If you want to go DD Wheel, your going to have to go to a more rigid frame to really use a DD wheel.

    After watching this I believe I made the right decision in getting the GT-Omega art Cockpit for the same price of $500 aud.. Including a seat that can actually be used with other rigs.. Don't think you can do that with this GTlite pro seat..

    The bar at the front of the seat which your hamstrings rest on is not comfortable. It may look very adjustable but it’s really not. I can’t see a large person be comfortable in this rig. I wish I had returned it within the 30 day return period.
