    Really helpful video Dave. As someone currently racing on a wheel stand I'm half looking at what my next step is whilst working with limited space and not necessarily in a position to go full rig. Something like this looks on the surface like it could be for me, but really helpful to know its not quite the same foldable/portable seat you'd normally get from PlaySeat but also not in the right price range.
    It sounds good, but like a few releases in the sim market recently, seemingly pitched in to no man's land where its neither beginner nor hard-core enough!

    I just bought this, and actually, just got it all put together tonight. I like it a lot!! I think it looks great, it's comfortable, and it has a nice build quality. It's lightweight enough to slide/move around if you need to store it somewhere. My only real complaint so far is that, for the price, it should have come with the shifter mount included. I had to buy mine separately. I also do wish it had some form of cable management, but i managed to install all my cables very cleanly. Outside that, so far, I'm very happy with it. 👌

    Thanks for the video Dave! I have the play seat as my secondary rig. They do have a shifter mount though to have it sent to the states cost a ton in shipping and I had to order it directly from their site. Having used the rig for about 5 months. The only real complaint I have is with the slide adjustment for height. It has a telescoping mechanism that you tighten down with some Allen screws. However, if you're like me and like to dial your Acetek Forte pedals in really stiff, it will slowly extend the height adjustment all the way out. I think remedy this by using some high strength wire and looping it through a couple of voids in the frame.

    there is a sifter mount, about £40 attachs to side, I have had this rig had it for a while now and love it, if you dont really have the space for a big rig, really comfortable sit in it all day long and feel fine, use a DD R9 moza on there and no twists or wobbling was great, well worth it if you havent got the space for a big rig

    Yep, its a great rig. I use it for my gran turismo rig and its perfect. Its actually comfier than my Alloy rig with the carbon bucket etc. Honestly the Trophy is amazing, its light weight, rigid, comfy and looks great. I have owned it for around 1 1/2 years now. It is expensive but so is anything good in sim racing :(

    I’ve had mine for a year (regular version). I did get mine for $300 off eBay and I absolutely love it. I live in an apartment so space is limited so I decided to purchase this rig. It’s a perfect size. I bought a monitor arm for a 32 in monitor and clamped it before the wheel base to save more space. Works perfect. Anyone on the fence should pull the trigger.

    Good review.
    I recently bought the standard playseat trophy, and I agree the price is steep. I bought it for two reasons.
    Firstly, I wanted somthing stiff and rigid as I use a Fanatec CSL DD wheel base and secondly I needed a cockpit that can easily store away. I live in a small studio flat and obviously I am very limited on space so when I am not using my rig I store myn behind the sofa.
    If you are tight on space but don't want a folding cockpit, it's a ok buy

    I owned this for 3 weeks decided to return it and upgrade to an 80/20.
    Your review is spot on but I’d like to add a few things.
    The biggest negatives are 3 things-
    1- the seat will move back if you stomp your brakes too hard. I’ve had to adjust the seats multiple times. I play acc and I stomp harder than needed when it gets intense.
    2- the back part of the seat will also move overtime due to hard braking.
    3- the seat is essentially a hammock. If you have back problems, you will have a hard time in endurances races.
    I’m 6’ tall, 190lbs. Using 11nm dd wheel and load cell pedals brakes.
    If space and mobility is an issue, this is probably the highest quality lawn chair cockpit on the market. Way better than next level racing’s lawn chair cockpit.

  • @rover1374
    @rover1374 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I had one before upgrading. Mine handled a 20nm base well enough but flexed with single mounting pedals. The material also ripped after about 6 months. Apart from that it was quite comfortable and light though.

  • @SteelRiverSims
    @SteelRiverSims 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Great review and absolutely bang on, it's just way way way too expensive! There really is no justification for the price either 🤷‍♂️ ...for the record I'm with you. It looks decent and if there's no flex it's also a quality product. These companies just need to sort their prices out, especially these days when things are tight.

  • @braydenjones603

    Just got one of these after buying a G923 6 months ago and then found myself subsequently addicted to sim racing (iR ACC). It's very comfortable, and feels very stiff to me, though I have no reference as it's the only DD compatible cockpit I've owned. The downside is it's a little time consuming to adjust if you're swapping jockeys. I'm using it with a R12 and Sprints. The reason I got this over a profile rig is simply the weight. I need to move it around as my main pc is also my sim racing pc (might need to change that at some point), so I need to move it every time I use it. I have it dual locked to a mat and it's easy to slide backwards and forwards. Also, as I'm renting, if I have to move it's maybe 3 less trips than a profile rig. The boxed weight is only 16 kg. All up I'm happy with it. No regrets.

  • @caaarlos

    It is exactly like you said it Dave! It used to cost 600€ (your equivalent I guess) but I got it at 500€ from a local store after trying it. (would be close to the 100 quid cheaper).
    The advantage for me was that I could try a display Playseat Trophy in the store. I've sat in 3 aluminium profiles and the footprint was noticeably bigger, overall heavier and more things to mess around. For me bucket seats were quite expensive and no matter which aluminium profile I got I wouldn't be able to reach the 500€ budget with aluminium and bucket. (and having a "fluffy" car style seat wouldn't be ideal tbh) cheers!

  • @jc_yyz
    @jc_yyz 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I bought this setup because I have limited space and I wanted something I can (more) easily move around, and I can also leave it setup and it doesn't look awful. I run a Simagic Alpha U and P1000 Hydraulic pedals on it, and I have zero complaints. Yes, it's a little pricey, but for my aesthetic, it works. Note: I use VR for racing, so I don't have screens setup with it, so the overall space it requires is even less.

  • @Bigheadedwon
    @Bigheadedwon หลายเดือนก่อน

    Love the size and the fact I could move it out the way easy. I also love the color scheme. But I won’t have a Logitech setup when I build my rig.
    So now I gotta go Google and find a company that will customize the black and red one to match the Simagic gear I’ll be buying. I’m sure that’ll only double the price lol

  • @tyleryoung5040
    @tyleryoung5040 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I’ve got this cockpit. It’s really not bad, price is my biggest complaint, but it works for my situation. At 6’1, and a bit long in the legs, my knees do bump up against the wheelbase mount. Depending on which way you have that facing, it can be much worse. I initially had a thrustmaster on there, using the desk mounted clamps, that was actually not comfy at all. Right now I’ve got the Cammus C5, it mounts perfectly, and it’s been really nice.

  • @chrispapa6700
    @chrispapa6700 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I have mine half of it the (base side 65cm total height with the base) under the desk with the simagic alpha and i move my monitor with an arm . If you want something like that its the only one. Its stable the plate needs some support with high end pedals and its expensive. But it is very comfortable and really stable, easy to build and move around. Also the shifter mount is rock solid too (+70e).

    You say that you're not a reviewer Dave, but I think you do yourself a disservice saying that. Your reviews cover all the aspects that a SIM racer really cares about. You don't go into too much technical buff that doesn't matter in the real world and, most importantly, you're honest and say it how it is. That's not only essential for the consumer, but also very valuable feedback for the manufacturer.

    Thanks for the review Dave. I have been looking for a rig that I can move in and out of my desk area as I have a Samsung 49" that I use for work and sim racing. I am tight on space so can't have anything bulky and I don't want a foldable rig as it is not stable enough. I use Logitech G923 at the moment that is mounted on my desk which I might upgrade in the future to a DD. This one could be an option. It is $600 here in the US but I am definitely waiting for a discount or even a used one.

    Had my eye on one for ages. I'm using a Playseat Challenge and want to take a step up in terms of rigidity but still have it portable enough that I can chuck it in the garage between uses. I just can't justify the price. It came down to £449 for the red one on Black Friday and even then it feels at least £50 too expensive.
    Considering whether something like a GT Omega Titan with caster wheels might be an alternative, but I've got something like a 10-15ft journey to the garage, including down one step.

      ok must be different for those of us in the states. The prime lite is 549 US with no seat and 839 with their cheapest seat and there's no stock of that one. I have this rig. When I ordered it, Logitech shipped it to me missing the bar that connects the two halves together under the steering wheel deck (there is a pipe that the two sides slip fit onto to hold it together). I tried to contact Logitech directly to get a replacement, and got no response. Nothing. After doing some internet searching, apparently I am not the only person that who did not receive this critical part. I was lucky enough to have a piece of tubing that I could cut down to fit and make the rig work right. I could have returned the item, but that was more hassle than just cutting down the piece of pipe. However the combination of the missing part and the poor customer service, I will never buy another Logitech product. I like the rig for what it its, but I won't recommend it to anyone at any price point. I would be interested in seeing what aluminum profile rigs are out there with the seat included at roughly this price point however.

    Looks like a near perfect rig for me but for the price, $600 USD is way too much. $400 would be a good price for this. I could build a killer 8020 aluminum profile rig with a great seat for $600 USD. As it is I'm probably getting a NLR GT Lite Pro for $300 or building a small 8020 aluminum profile rig if I can get a cheap seat for about the same.

    Play-seat have always been over priced for what they are, specially when there are similar items out there often £100 or so below their MRRP, and as you say, not much in the way of options either, Aluminium Profile rigs are getting cheaper month on month, Ok you often have to purchase a seat, But one can be purchased from a local scrap yard for around £100 these days with runners, So with a Aluminium rig at around the £250 mark and seat for £100 giving a total of £350/400, now against the Play-seat, you would have around £150/200 to purchase Shifter mounts, monitor stands ETC , giving you a much better package all round in my opinion. But that is from a tight arsed Pension pulling point of view ( the state don't give me enough to fritter it away on Luxury Priced Items LOL )
